  1. As do I. The cartoon bird just doesn't look good for a professional franchise.
  2. Unrelated to the Blue Jackets issue, but the Coyotes just signed a new AHL affiliation for five years. In Portland, Maine. In case you're not putting two and two together, Maine is a lot closer to Quebec than Arizona. Perhaps I'm reading way to much into this, but back in the WHA days, the Nordiques had an affiliate in Maine (Lewiston, not Portland, but still). Whatever, I'm probably just reading too much into this.
  3. This. I love the font with a passion and really love their logo. The small touch of black works perfectly. A lot of people seem to dislike the new Lions because it runs contrary to their semi-traditional uniforms they had prior to the redesign. I think it's trails only two uniforms (Browns and Packers) in the NFL, is miles ahead of my favorite team, the Patriots. I also think the new logo is a hell of a lot better than the old. Good for 1980s Great for 2010s(?). But no love for the Rangers NOB and number script?
  4. Bumping this dead thread yet again... I've mentioed before that I really like the new-ish Lions set. But I honestly thin it's one of the top 5 sets in all of professional football right now. I especially like the number fonts, it's what makes the uniform for me. I want a white Matt Stafford one, but I'm poor. Speaking of fonts everyone seems to hate, I also really like the new-ish Rangers NOB and number font Yes, it looks bad on Ron Washington and now ex-Ranger Jarrod Saltalamacchia, but on guys like Michael Young and Josh Hamilton, it just looks awesome.
  5. The Red Sox fan in me is all "MUHAHAHAHAHA" but the sane person in me is all "Man. If they relocate, I really feel for those fans. They battled through all the crap this team put up for the first 10 years of its existence, getting to see their fandom start to pay off with a winning product on the turf, only to see it taken away from them because there were too few of them. That sucks for them". If the team does move, I'm rooting for a return to Montreal and Brooklyn.
  6. The new 2011 Stanley Cup banner in the TD Garden rafters alongside the redone ones representing the 1970 & 1972 teams. Beautiful.
  7. They have followed the trend of plopping the primary logo on top of the Stanley Cup. Still, it is a great sight for sore eyes in Boston! B's Reveal Championship Ring Details Needs more gold and/or black. But overall, I like it! I don't like having the filthy Canadiens logonew Lightning logo on there, and it would annoy me personally. At least it's on the inside of the ring. Overall, good job Bs.
  8. I couldn't believe that's what came up when I typed that URL in. Someone screwed up somewhere, and nobody cared enough to put a stop to it. I hope that guy got a refund.
  9. I'd narrow that down to either a Pen or Flyer. I counted the Habs and Bs because 1) I'm a Bruins fan, 2) he won a Cup with Boston (after spending a few years there, unlike with Carolina, where he only spent half a season), 3) I counted the Canadiens in because I didn't want to seem overly Bruins-partisan.
  10. Mark Recchi: Carolina Hurricanes, 2006 Atlanta Thrashers, 2007-08 Tampa Bay Lightning, 2008-09 Either a Bruin, Pen, Flyer or Hab.
  11. Look at those sleeves! Too big, and I despise the new look of football players, with basically sleeveless jerseys.
  12. What if no player in the MLB resides in Pittsburgh? So players from smaller towns (ie Larry Bird from French Lick) are not even given a shot to play in the professional leagues? Im confused by what you are trying to say, can you please elaborate? Exactly. What about foreign players? Should Pedro Martinez or Tony Parker or Alexander Ovechkin not get opportunities because, not only do they not live in an NHL/MLB/NBA town, they're not even from the nation where the highest professional leagues are?
  13. Surprised to see they didn't include Ashley Young with the Red Devils.
  14. This is one of my favorite logos of all-time and I do not know how anyone else would feel about it because I have never seen it on here in recent memory. I like the name, but the logo is hideous.
  15. This has probably been asked before, but, what is this font?
  16. That's CLEARLY indicating a Nintendo-Senators sponsorship deal. SNES? Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I want to buy it just because of that. [/gaming nerd]
  17. I also love Oregon and Boise State's uniforms. I think they're some of the best in the NCAA. I especially loved the black/neon set Oregon wore last night.
  18. +1 Agree completely. It's not the best in the MLS, but it's Top 5. Compare this to the other original MLS logos and it looks magnificent. I don't despise it, but I think an upgrade is due. Hopefully, to a Euro style crest. Because I love football crests.
  19. YES! I love the blue undershirts from the 1980s and 1990s. I actually think the red ones look far too...boring, for lack of a better term. The blue really does help the red pop. I also think that the 1990-2008 roadies looked better when they had the blue undershirts. Now to get to your first point... A lot of people didn't -- and don't -- like the redesign of the road uniforms. A lot of people. I personally think the new ones are fantastic, though no one who I've ever talked too agrees with me. Okay, I third the navy undershirts. Beautiful. This has to be my favorite Sox jersey of all time, which most people view as a beer-league softball jersey... Also, I hated, and I mean hated the new road duds when they came out. They've since grown on me a lot. I still miss the World Series era roadies but these aren't to shabby either. As for the undershirt conundrum, blue at home, red on the road. The roads need some red, and I think they really pop with the red undershirts. EDIT: While I'm here, bring back the striped stirrups!!! THIS I loved that Red Sox uni, it's sort of my white whale to find one. I personally hate the mesh material, but I think it'd be cool just to have. Blue at home and red on the road seems to make sense, considering their primary home color is red, and the blue undershirt would make it pop, and vice versa for the road. YES to the stirrups! God, those were beauties. I love everything the Henry ownership has done, except (the majority of) what they've done to the uniforms.
  20. He is a hipster, but one of the few who's not a douchebag.

  22. Bumping a dead thread... I really like the Red Sox new roadies. Like, a lot. And I'm not some old nostalgia freak either, reminiscing about the days of Boggs, Rice and Yaz. (I was born in the 1990s). In fact, I always thought that the Red Sox previous roads weren't that great. They had nameplates, which I despise, and even though they matched color-wise, I just never thought they were that great. Now these new roads, they're spectacular. Harkening back to a classic era, but with some modern touches (logo patch on the left sleeve, direct sewn NOBs). Sure, it's not as colorful as the previous ones, but I still like them a hell of a lot more than the old ones. While I agree that they absolutely shouldn't have worn those blue socks like they did during the opening series against LAA, that doesn't subtract from the uniform itself (at least in my opinion). Plus, the old roadies remind me of these: It's pretty much the 1970s pullover minus the trim, v-neck and added NOBs and buttons.
