With the NFL adopting the XFL kick off, is the UFL going to use it now? Last I heard Daryl Johnston hated it and so they are using the USFL kickoff which was just the traditional NFL kick off.

    Correct.

    Kickoffs

Kickoffs will look like more traditional college/NFL kickoffs but will take place from the 20-yard line of the kicking team. A kickoff out of bounds will give possession to the receiving team 30 yards from the spot of the kickoff or at the spot where the ball went out of bounds. A kickoff that is untouched by the receiving team may only be recovered by the kicking team up to 20 yards from the spot of the kick.

    Other Kicking/Touchback Rules

All touchbacks on kicks (punts or kickoffs) will be placed at the receiving team’s 25-yard line. Any punt that goes out of bounds inside the receiving team’s 25-yard line will be considered a touchback and placed at the 25-yard line. Non-kicking touchbacks will also be placed at the 25-yard line.

Bears twitter has basically already decided he is a homosexual and should be run out of the game.

It's really, really depressing, but not unexpected that people behave like that.

What are we doing here folks? There are a hand full of different factors (lighting, projection, material, the camera or medium of the photo) that factor into how colors present. Comparing different photos to make distinct color comparison arguments is silly

  4. Pretty wild the amount of QB moves around the league this offseason.  Is it more than normal or am I seeing what I want to see?

    • Kenny Pickett*:  PIT > PHI
    • Sam Darnold:  SF > MIN
    • Joe Flacco:  CLE > IND
    • Gardner Minshew:  IND > LV
    • Russell Wilson:  DEN > PIT
    • Kirk Cousins:  MIN > ATL
    • Desmond Ridder*:  ATL > AZ
    • Jameis Winston:  NO > CLE
    • Sam Howell:  WAS > SEA
    • Jimmy Garoppolo:  LV > TBD
    • Justin Fields:  CHI > TBD

    * - trade

bold - started at least one game in 2023

  5. Hopefully we get some quality Teddy Bridgewater-esque photos during the season.  Baseball cards will be awesome.

"Oh snap!  I pulled a 2024 Pete Crow-Armstrong!  You can tell because his freckled, sweaty hog is showing through his 1-ply Fanatics uniform!"

Even though his claim is "non NFL markets" the NFL can make it really hard for him, especially if he doesn't allow players in his league to sign with the NFL when their season ends.  Blocking players from eventually getting to the NFL will not attract players.  He keeps poking the NFL bear so much that I can see him in one of his next videos not allowing players to go to the NFL when their season ends but also blocking non players from going to the NFL either.  He will probably say something about the need for his league to have roster stability unlike the spring leagues.

One of the reasons the NFL didn't make it hard for the USFL and XFL to exist was because players from both leagues were allowed to pursue NFL opportunities once their seasons ended.  The UFL is expected to be the same, to allow their players to explore NFL opportunities when the season ends.  It seems unlikely that the UFL will block any of their coaches, General Managers or front office people from leaving if an NFL opportunity arises either.  The President of Football Operations Darryl Johnston has said that the UFL is not a developmental league for the NFL and that it's a stand alone league, but has also stated that they won't block anybody (players, coaches, General managers, etc) from pursuing NFL opportunities if they have any.

I think that’s the most practical relationship.  All these players’ agencies and likely coordinators from the NFLPA are knotted together anyway, so as long as both leagues and the player representation can be cooperative/neutral with each other, no harm done.  The UFL isn’t posturing as an NFL alternative or replacement, nor is it intended to be a feeder league.   And that’s ok.  No need to define the connection explicitly.

Thoughts from the official Lightning 3rd unveiling:

    - Hooray, drop shadowing!

    - Not using silver numbers is a big miss.

    - Putting one silver stripe on each sleeve and not incorporating the color anywhere else makes no sense. Especially when you can put one on the hem, go Full Brandspeak, and tell everyone how the three silver stripes represent the franchise's Cup victories.

    - While we're at the hem, why did you decide to go with one white stripe of a completely different width here? It's like you had different teams working on the body and on the sleeves.

    - The sleeve striping actually looks better on non-jersey merch, like hoodies and zip-ups. Maybe it's because those items don't have the thick white stripe to undo the look.

    - No shoulder patches from a team that always has had them and has a simple, scalable primary logo just comes off as lazy. If they had taken the primary logo and given it the same drop shadowing treatment they've used on the numbers, it would be awesome.

So, like every Lightning attempt to bring back the black, they could have had something here, but unfortunately they really don't.

personally i think it would have been better if they brought back a jersey kobe actually wore. kinda like what the warriors did in their last regular season game at oracle. the gold wishbone jersey would have been a no brainer here.  but i get this decision as well.

also since no one posted it yet. grizzlies decided to come out with a new alternate court midseason.

personally i dont like seeing grey courts anywhere outside brooklyn. aside from the tournament courts this is like the 2nd-4th time a team has come out with a grey court since the nets made it a thing? (mavs, cavs, okc, grizzlies)

The grey basketball court is the NBA equivalent of redecorating your kitchen with shiplap, cement countertops, and a copper farmhouse sink.

DC Posted the times and dates of the games on Facebook. You can clearly tell because the season starts 6 weeks later they have to schedule around DC United, so there are no night home games, and I am going to assume league wont flex times like they were doing at the end of last season.

An unexpected financial lifeline has come into play today.

Dwayne Johnson is now a board member of TKO, the Endeavor-owned conglomerate that operates WWE and UFC. This means, in theory, he now could have Ari Emanuel and the Saudi Kingdom's money to play with for his upstart football league, after the Fox money runs its course this season and if Redbird wants to sell. Looking forward to the expansion Baltimore Bonesaws and Philadelphia PowerSlaps.

Belichick would have to recruit if he went to a college team. He doesn't strike me as the recruiting type.

I didn't say he'd have to try, he'd just kinda exist and whoever wants to come play for him, walk ons especially, can make up the team.  Winning doesn't matter so long as the kids in his program respect the hell out of special teams.
