Never thought of it like that, that could very well be the reason. The equipment manager could have been sent the numbers from adidas with no clarification, and seeing the double outline he could have thought that it was the knicks changing uniforms and not the disingenuous outline-that's-the-same-color-as-the-jersey.

The knicks used white outlines inside the numbers in the 2010 media day, due to the Rev30 switch. In the end they kept the normal blue outline with an additional outline that was the same color of the jersey

None of the striping matched because they kept wearing monochrome when those uniforms were intended to be worn with contrasting pants. They only really wore them as intended in the first season. If worn as intended they would still have been bad, but probably not 'undisputed worst uniform in the NFL' terrible

Since there continues to be talk of creating a European League that would replace the Champions League by having games played every week and creating a huge cash cow, I thought I'd attempt at making it feasible without completely destroying domestic play. The teams for the first league would be the top 2 teams in each of the top 4 leagues and the winners of the next 3 best leagues getting an automatic spot and the other 9 teams coming from the third and second place teams of those with automatic spots and the champions of the leagues that don't participating in a playoff. Counting the 2014/15 season as the last regular league, conceivably the super League would be something like this (just took the participants based on the 2014/1 final Uefa League ranking European Football League Chelsea Manchester City Barcelona Real Madrid Juventus AS Roma Bayern Munich Wolfsburg PSG Benfica Zenit Borussia M'Gladbach Atletico Madrid Arsenal Porto Shaktar Donetsk KAA Gent PSV Eindhoven Galatasaray FC Basel With no midweek European games, the travel would balance out. With the domestic leagues finished, they can easily play 10 or so games in 6 weeks Even European League teams participate in domestic cups, which would significantly add to their value, becoming the best chance at silverware for most European League teams. UEFA Cup is contested between the champions who failed to get promoted to the European League and the second and third best teams. Would probably be more exciting than the current Europa League, since the reward for winning it is direct promotion to the European League. If a team wins both the Uefa Cup and the domestic League, the runner ups in the domestic league participate in the tournament. Domestic leagues with a maximum of 18 teams participating so that there is enough time for the promotion tournament. Since the European League seems inevitable, a format like this would be able to create a huge cash cow, while significantly improving the significance of the current Europa League and of domestic cups, as well as creating another event in the promotion playoffs.

That would be the kind of World Cup that I would enjoy! There's be no minnows. Just sixteen all-star teams representing the best of the world's top leagues. In my fantasy scenario, there would be four groups, and each group would contain a team from one of the major powers: Premier League (England) La Liga (Spain) Serie A (Italy) Bundesliga (Germany) Then the other twelve teams would be apportioned to groups at random. If it were done right now, those other twelve teams might be: Ligue 1 (France) Eredivisie (Netherlands) Brasileirão (Brazil) Liga MX (Mexico)MLS (U.S. / Canada) Primera División (Argentina) Primeira Liga (Portugal) Championship (Russia) Scottish Professional Football League Belgian Pro League J-League (Japan) Super League (Switzerland) The four major powers would have permanent spots. Qualifying matches would be played in the years before my fantasy World Cup to see which other twelve teams qualify. Alas, this will never be. But it is one of the first things that I would bring into being as King of All Sports. There actually were some 'league all-star" games in the late 80's.
