  1. Hello. Although I have been reading these forums for several months, I am a brand new poster. I was hoping that maybe somebpdy could help me identify some of the numerical fonts that were used on NFL helmets in the 1960s and 1970s. It looks like most teams used the same three or four fonts for their helmet numbers. However, although some of these fonts seem common enough, I can't seem to find a perfect match. This first one I'm trying to identify is the one that was used by the Dolphins in the late 1960s and early 1970s and the Chargers in the late 1970s. It was also used by the Giants from 1975 through 1980, the Broncos in the early 1970s, the Bills in the mid-1980s, and a number of other teams at other times. The "1" is pretty distinct with its elongated top serif and the "2" seems to have serifs on the top and bottom. The "8" was round as can be seen in the links below. Does anyone know what it is? 1969 Dolphins 1970s Chargers I'm also trying to identify the font used by the Eagles in the late 1960s and early 1970s (White Helmets). I don't have a great link to it-- the best I could find is below. The best shot of the numbers is 5 rows down and 3 rows from the left. It is obviously a block font, but the serif at the top of the 5 makes it pretty unique and distinguishes it from other block fonts I have seen. Does anyone know what it is? 1972 Philadelphia Eagles I appreciate the help. Great site. I enjoy it very much.
