I think part of the reason Brazil is hosting the Copa America is also to get actual use out of those stadiums they overpaid for. Not all of them though.
Are any of them not being used by a club? That'd be a real waste.

Phoenix proper has the Suns, the Diamondbacks and the Cardinals, plus ASU. Plus, absurdly, great golfing.
It's been 20 years. Would there ever be a pro team more instantly forgotten than Coyote hockey?
Charlotte Bobcats... and if you wanna go back a ways, the Kansas City Scouts/Colorado Rockies (NHL), Cleveland Barons, San Diego Rockets, and Seattle Pilots.

I'll offer my two dull pennies. The Islanders will find a home close by as some of you have mentioned. Carolina will head up to French Canadian land despite Bettman pleading Karmanos to keep a team he can't afford. The Phoenix/Glendale/Arizona/Tempe Coyotes will move to Houston, where no one cares or to Seattle, where they will play in 150 year old Key Arena.
I've always thought, how come a team can't play at Safeco Field, on a temporary basis? The Lightning played at the Trop for a couple years and made it work. Shouldn't be too hard to maintain an ice plant in a retractable dome.

oh of course they shouldnt have two (unless it were the raiders) but many people were happy to have their rams back, and even more people were happy that they can see their favorite team come to town.
I definitely agree these moves will start to have a negative effect on the league. Like Mark Cuban said, the league will start to implode abit. Lots of bad decisions all around (ie thursday night football)

LA as a whole isn't a great sports market, but there are still a lot of people who really do care about sports, and particularly having an NFL team.

Congrats, LA. You're the only city that lost to the Niners and Browns.
No, San Diego lost to the Browns.

We'll see. But I'd bet a week's salary they will not sell out every game. There will be empty seats mark my words. No one in LA gives a crap about the Chargers and never will.
You're just being emotional. There are Chargers fans here in LA, there's just not THAT many. I know a woman who lives in San Pedro who has been a Chargers season ticket holder for 20 years, driving down 10 times a year. There's also plenty in Orange County.
They'll sell out, even if it's 2/3 opposing fans or non-football fans who just want to go to an event. Their attendance at the 80,000 seat Inglewood Stadium is what I'm skeptical of.

I quoted tp49's post about the barracuda and the bay area.

The arena in Sacramento is not built to hold hockey so games there would be like Islander games at Barclay's. I highly doubt the Barracuda would be coming up here.
Yeah, and I don't think SF will do much better than the Barracuda, even if it's at the Warriors new arena and not the cow palace.
Also, if that were to happen, the AHL team would have a nicer, newer arena than the NHL team (not that the Tank is bad or anything). How often does that happen?

Yeah I'm in total agreement with you especially with the San Jose situation. I figure they are waiting on one of the new arenas like Astro said and Winnipeg AHL will start to lag at some point so hopefully Thunder Bay can figure out their arena issue as that seems like a perfect fit. I'm still hoping the Canucks come knocking on Seattle's door again and puts the team in the Key since it looks like no new arena here for god knows how long for NHL.
how would that affect the thunderbirds?

San Diego Chargers
New York Yankees

Wow, just looked at the price of ECHLtv subscriptions... Are they completely crazy, or what? Why would anyone pay those prices to watch "AA" hockey?
Just get Hockey Streams.

Look, if the NHL's going to keep turning a blind eye to drug abuse, at least limit cocaine to the forwards and restrict defensemen to painkillers only, so I can get some faster skating and more scoring out of this Faustian bargain.
I'd imagine a goaltender would have pretty quick reflexes while on methamphetamine.

Minnesota and Columbus have banners for all the teams in the rafters. I think Winnipeg has them in the lobby. Who are the others?
Nashville and Tampa, and there might be one or two more.
-
Also, I was at the PNC Arena to see the Jackets win. The odd thing was that there were not flags for all the NHL teams.
there's only like 5 teams that do that.
-
From what I can tell, nobody in Portland with money wants to own a team.
Apparently Paul Allen has shown minor interest, but minor interest doesn't get a team.

This quote is humorous. A lack of attendance (effect) is a symptom of the main problem, the NHL placing a franchise in a doomed market (cause). No matter how much the 'Hawks, Bruins or Pens suck (three teams this individual poster called out), fans will always come out because hockey is a well-established sport in those areas (not regarding the legacy of the franchises).
I take it that you haven't been a hockey fan for very long... The Blackhawks and Penguins had horrible attendance numbers before the lockout.

I hate Pinstripes in baseball, especially the Yankees.
I love team uniforms that use bright colors (orange, teal, purple, green, etc.)
I hate old logos that have been used forever. (Montreal Canadiens, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Steelers, etc.)
I love the dark Edmonton Oilers home uni's that were used from about 2000 to 2009.
I hate all red NHL uniforms, besides Calgary and New Jersey. They are WAY OVERUSED!! About 1/3 of the teams use red.
