I know Brady has 7 rings and is the GOAT, but it just feels like we’re watching the eventual greatest QB of all time in his prime when watching Mahomes. He’s unbelievable.
Unquestionably solidified himself as one of the two best QB’s ever tonight.

I know I said I wouldn’t watch anymore football, but good lord the Packers did it again. Jordan Love is that next great Packers QB currently in the process of making his leap.

My gut and heart says all of the home teams will win, but that’s no fun to predict.
Houston vs. Baltimore
Green Bay vs. San Francisco
Tampa Bay vs. Detroit
Kansas City vs. Buffalo

That's nice. But in the 25 other years of the NFC Central's existence (so like 50 games total), Bucs-Lions was specifically reserved for CBS's C or D announce team.
Lmao this guy.
And yet, Pat and Madden called their only prior playoff matchup (also on Fox), which is why I was reminiscing about it.

Willing to bet Summerall/Madden not once called a Lions-Bucs game.
And you’d be wrong. I should have taken you up on that offer. They’ve done it at least once, 1997 Wild Card game. I barely remember that game as a 6 year oldhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997–98_NFL_playoffs
EDIT: And once more in 1998, Week 14.

Can’t even enjoy the Eagles completing their legendary collapse because of how bad the Cowboys played yesterday. Though at least, if the Cowboys are trash, then Eagles are too.
Here’s to hoping the winner of the battle between the old NFC Central rivals makes it to the Super Bowl! Wish we had Pat Summerall and John Madden on the call for that game too, would have been perfectly nostalgic.

Are either of those true though? They got beat at home in all but score by Detroit, and would likely have been hosting them again next week. The Lions invalidated both of those statements. It's certainly possible they'd've made the NFCCG, but by no means was it as close of a foregone conclusion as you're making it sound.
I’d say so, but that was also the consensus from analysts too so I wasn’t alone in thinking that.
I wasn’t trying to make it sound like a foregone conclusion but rather that the opportunity was there for the Cowboys, probably the best opportunity than they’ve had since 2007 and they failed miserably.

Im just curious… you’ve said this a few times this season. I’m not looking for a fight but what makes you keep saying this? How were things lined up for the Cowboys more than any other playoff team? They had some impressive games (mostly against weaker teams at home) and also struggled a bit. Kind of normal better than average NFL team stuff. What did you think was lining up?
Weaker NFC than normal, San Francisco would have been avoided until the NFC title game at least, had arguably the best or second best QB in the conference and the fact they were able to play at home (where they had been a dominant 16-0) until that game against either the two 9-8 teams or one of the two they had already beaten in Dallas (Philly and Detroit).
Dallas on paper looked like the clear 2nd best team so that had me drinking the kool aid and ignoring the obvious red flags this team had.
No more though. I won’t believe this team can make a NFC Championship Game, let alone a Super Bowl, until I actually see it happen.

I really think this loss broke me as a Cowboys fan. I just can’t get myself to care whether or not our coaching staff gets fired and who we may or may not replace them with. Or any other offseason decision now.
If they couldn’t reach a NFC title game this year with everything lined up for them, then when will they ever do it?
I’m definitely not watching sports for a long while after this.

I hope this puts a lid on Quinn to the Seahawks. No thank you.
Yeah, that would be a terrible. I’m bit sad about that tho because I wanted the Cowboys to be rid of him -
There’s no way McCarthy or Quinn survive after this game, right?

You damned fool. Can’t believe I drank the Cowboys kool-aid again.
This team will never win anything ever again while Jerry is the owner. Can’t even reach a NFC title game. He clearly made a deal with the devil to win those early Super Bowls but the last 30 years and counting have been the payment for it.

Bold prediction: The Packers send the Cowboys home next week.
I’d step away from watching any sports for a few months if that happened. -
For the first time since 1994, the 49ers and the Cowboys are the NFC’s 1 and 2 seeds.
Cowboys won 12 games for the 3rd straight season, first time that has happened for Dallas since 1992-1996. Dallas is also the 12th team ever to win 12+ games in at least 3 straight seasons. All other 11 teams made it to at least the NFC or AFC Championship game.
Overall, a great season again from Dallas. Locking up the 2nd seed means the Cowboys are guaranteed to avoid San Francisco and play at to also play home where they’ve won 16 straight, so long as they keep winning. This really seems like the year the Cowboys finally make it to a NFC Championship Game and break that dubious streak.
Everything is laid out for them to do so. No excuses.

It does, but I don't understand why that's the case. I think it's funny when the MVP is a QB, but then the OPOY is a WR or RB. I get that technically there's a difference between "most valuable" and "POY", but it still shows that the award is kind of a farce.
I honestly don’t understand it as well. Especially in a year when there isn’t a single QB having a clear cut, standout MVP type season. Lamar, Dak, Purdy and Tua are all having good seasons but nothing “MVP” worthy like Mahomes or Rodgers have had in the last few seasons.
This season would be the perfect season to acknowledge the greatness of a non-QB but the MVP voters just have such a hard on for QB’s.

Dak plays with a great defense and great offense, but he doesn't have the wins or numbers of Brock. Ditto DeShaun Watson. And all of the bums on the Jets.
Purdy is in the best possible situation but he's also delivering. I think he's the MVP. Him or Lamar.
Dak has one less win than Purdy (QB wins are a horrible way to evaluate a QB), and their stats are similar in every way (except Dak has more TD’s and less INT’s).Purdy: 68.8cmp%, 4050 yards, 29 TD’s (31 total), 9.7 Y/A, 11 INTS (13 total TO’s), 71.7 QBR and 112.2 qb rating.
*Dak: 68.4cmp%, 3892 yards, 30 TD’s (32 total), 7.5 Y/A, 7 INTS (8 total TO’s), 71.5 QBR and 104.2 QB rating.
I just wanted to push back against the notion that Purdy is just vastly outplaying Dak. Also if Purdy is considered to have the better weapons, shouldn’t Dak’s numbers have more value because he’s doing it with less talent around him yet essentially has the same stats (if not better) than Purdy?
If the MVP has to go to the QB on the best team, then it has to be Lamar, if it’s the QB who’s played the best throughout the whole season then it’s Josh Allen or Dak. In reality we’re ignoring who should be the true MVP front runners just because the MVP has become a QB only award: Myles Garrett and Tyreek Hill
*- need to point out that Dak’s total volume stats would be better if he hadn’t sat the entire 4th quarter, or the majority of the 4th, in over 7 games this season.

Very telling stat just stated by Joe Buck: 49ers are 0-37 when trailing by 8 or more points in the 4th quarter under Kyle Shanahan.
This stat is a little disingenuous.
(From Twitter):“- All teams win 7% of games in that scenario (98-1337-4)
- KC have the best win% (6-14, .300)
- GB 2nd best : 7-34 (.171)
- SEA 1-38, CAR 1-58, IND 1-36-1
- BLT 2-22, DAL 2-37, NE 3-35- No one really wins these
- Helps to be good at dropback pass
- SF scheme weakness/QB weakness is the dropback pass”These stats are from 2017-present day including the regular season and postseason (when Shanahan took over as the 49ers HC).
I’m definitely not a 49ers supporter but it’s generally very difficult to win games when you’re already down by 8 or more points with only 15 minutes to go.
EDIT: a better stat showcasing their struggles when trailing would be the Shanahan 49ers’ record when trailing by 3+ at the start of the 4th.
They’re 1-31 in that scenario.

What a not fun game. This team just cannot get out of their own way man. Way too undisciplined. They might beat Tampa again in the WC, but their ceiling is the divisional round.
I have to say too the officials have way too much influence over a game (not the reason why Dallas lost today, just to be clear). The NFL has devolved into just watching for flags after every play is over (or complaining about obvious missed calls). It’s getting unwatchable.
-
Cowboys defense playing surprisingly well so of course it’s the high flying offense laying another absolute egg on the road.
I know this game technically won’t effect anything for Dallas in terms of winning the division so it’s just a get-right/vibes game, but still this is frustrating to watch.

Now that I’ve had time to digest everything, I’m pretty firmly in the camp that there wasn’t anything truly terrible released this offseason. Some are mediocre, others really good, but definitely not the worst new uniforms offseason we’ve seen.
If I had to rank the changes it would be this:
1. Browns (new helmets with a white facemask).
2. Jets (I love the simplicity of the uniforms which allows the green to really stand out).
3. Texans (absolutely adore the new home jersey).
4. Lions (love everything except the stupid black and blue uniform and the new stripe. It just doesn’t do it for me).
5. Broncos (saw someone on twitter say the uniforms look like they could be a new UTEP redesign and now I can’t get that out of my mind).
