Yeah I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about that Eagles defense.

That's why I don't the Super Bowl isd going to be that close. With Mahomes still hurt, he won't be able to do his usual BS.

If the Bengals were able to get pressure like they did in the 2nd half, Mahomes will be in for a tough night.

That Eagles defense excels against bad and average offenses (or offenses with bad/average QB's). However, they've struggled mightily against explosive offenses with capable quarterbacks at the helm, to the affect that they're one of the worst defenses in the league in those games. They've only played 4 good offenses with top 10-15 QB's this season and they gave up 35, 21, 33 and 40 points against those teams. Only one of those was a loss which just shows how good their offense has been but to think they're going to shut down Mahomes and the #1 offense in the league when they've shown they cannot stop good offenses with good quarterbacks isn't accurate.

Eagles have been historically lucky with the season schedule and who they got to face in the playoffs; that's not to take away from how good they've been because they still have an excellent team that was capable of taking advantage of their easy schedule and now they only have to beat one great team to win the title (which they're fully capable of).

I expect this game to be relatively high scoring, possibly with both teams scoring 30+. It should be a good game.

  2. I don’t know man. By the strictest of interpretations this is a penalty, but it also seems like Mahomes embellished the rather minimal contact to make it look worse than it was.

How many other times have we seen that exact scenario but the offensive player doesn’t go down so a penalty isn’t called? It happens all the time. The sprit of the rule was to save players from taking unnecessary hard hits, not from the lightest of touches.

Offenses, and QB’s specifically, already get so much protection from officials and the rulebook changes that put limitations on what defenses can do. This just seems too harsh of a penalty to end a team’s season, especially more so given the dodgy/questionable calls the Chiefs had been getting from the officials the whole 4th quarter.

Again, by letter of the rule, it’s a penalty (I feel deeply for Ossai who looked absolutely distraught after the game), and you can make the correct argument that Ossai should never have even touched Mahomes so the refs wouldn’t have come into play there, but all the same it’s a tough way to end a season.

Noners are a bunch of classless losers. Good riddance to their season.

That’s the one good thing that came from this game. As much as I hate Philly (their my most hated team of any sport), I almost wanted them to win today because of how awfully arrogant, classless and toxic the Niners players/fans are.

At least with the Eagles they have players I actually like (I really like Jalen, Kelce and Slay; wish they weren’t Eagles so I could openly root for them) and I know what to expect with their fans after dealing with them for decades now. There’s a begrudging respect there that I just do not have for San Francisco. It seems as if 49ers fans forget they have a championship drought even longer than the Cowboys do with the amount of classless trash they talk.

(Have to add that as a Cowboys fan I also dislike most Cowboys fans I meet. They’re every bit as arrogant, classless and just plain stupid as any other big fan base.)

  4. Apparently McCarthy is going to call plays too.

I don’t mind parting ways with Kellen because although the Cowboys have had the leagues #1 offense 2 out of the 4 seasons he’s been the offensive coordinator, the Cowboys offense has had two massive flameouts in back to back postseasons. Change was needed.

However, McCarthy calling plays scares the s*** out of me. This doesn’t feel like an improvement at all. If anything it’s going to make the offense worse.

  5. I don't know if this is a hot take considering the Eagles were the best team all year, but I think they're a bad match-up for San Francisco.

Their defense is just as capable of slowing down/stopping the 49ers offense like the Cowboys defense did last night and the 49ers have shown a surprising susceptibility to teams with QB's who can run well. No team utilized an offense with a running QB better than Philadelphia this season. Their OC created a system centered around Jalen's talents that always has a counter for whatever the opposing defense tries to take away. It puts defenses in a bind because no matter what they choose, the Eagles offense makes it the wrong choice.

    Should be an interesting game.

It still ain't too late for you to pick a new one...

Can’t, as much as I wish I could sometimes, it runs too deep for me. For better or worse I’ll be a Cowboys fan until I die.

Plus it’s difficult for me to switch teams. Once I choose the team (though I was born into being a Cowboys fan), it sticks forever.

  7. This is how the Cowboys have lost basically every divisional round game in the last 27 years (save for Minnesota in ‘09 and LA in ‘18). Just self inflicted plays giving the other team points.

Dak has to stop throwing picks. Good thing the defense is absolutely balling, but the offense is going to have to produce some points to win.

  8. Cincy is going to win this game. Fun fact for those who don’t know, Cincinnati is undefeated in the AFCCG. A perfect 3-0.

It’s time to put up or shut up for the Cowboys. This team has felt “different” all year, but they can only confirm they actually are by beating the 49ers today. Otherwise they’re no better than any other Cowboys team we’ve seen in the last 28 years.

I’m so nervous/anxious that I’m going to throw up.  I haven’t been this anxious for a Cowboys game since the 2016 divisional round game against Green Bay.

Closest QB I’ve ever seen to Joe Montana. Incredible ability, and as cool as the other side of the pillow (RIP Stu Scott). I’m a huge fan.

I can't comment on that comparison because I never saw Montana play, but I'd say Burrow reminds me most of a young Brady. He's an excellent pocket passer, remarkably calm and poised beyond his age, more athletic, isn't as outwardly competitive (in terms of how he expresses it) but has just as much self-confidence as Brady. Bengals should be good for years with Burrow.

EDIT: Buffalo is just falling apart right now.

  10. Maybe we all got a little carried away with the Giants beating a bad Vikings team that we forgot the Giants are also not a very good team. Barring a historic New York comeback, tonight is simply confirming what we've known all season: the NFC only has 3 obviously good teams and their gap to the rest of the conference is quite significant. It's only fitting that one of those three will end up in the Super Bowl.

I have a gut feeling that the Eagles will end up in the Super Bowl regardless of what happens in tomorrow's Cowboys-49ers game.

What is the magic number of titles to complain about a team or player?

I think it's three. After three, you're allowed to openly hate them.

Three sounds about right. But it has to be 3 within a decade. I’d also add the caveat that fans of rival teams can openly hate a team before the 3 title rule.

They just don't have all those cheating scandals, which is why people tolerate their dominance more than the Patriots.

No, it’s because the Chiefs dominance has only been in the last 5 years and have one title to show for it. The Patriots just had a unparalleled dominant 20 year stretch with 6 titles and 9 Super Bowl appearances. Y’all don’t get to complain and moan about anybody for another two decades at least.

Mike Florio is a Steelers fan at his core* which means he's both a moron and a bad person. He fabricates :censored: with zero evidence and then does this "I'm just sayin..." bullshrt. Like the time he speculated based on nothing that Joe Burrow would try to pull an Eli Manning and force the Bengals not to draft him. Then when everyone rightfully called him a stupid a$$hole for that he went "hold on I only said he could try that. It's an option for him." Dude's a Darren Rovell tier grade-a weenie and also sucks.

*He even waved his terrible Towel on NBC when the Bengals and Steelers played on SNF earlier this season.

Is he a Steelers fan? I was under the impression he's a Vikings fan. He's openly talked about his love for the Vikings before. I did find a recent YT video from 2021 on NFL on NBC's official account where Florio is talking about how he became a Vikings fan in the 70's as a kid.
