  1. Sorry gents, I was pretty lit when posting this. Apologies for my disdain in the last post; I'll get better. Thank you for viewing.
  2. 170 views and no replies... I started here in 2005 and everyone was really supportive and gave great constructive criticism. Now, it's a free-for-all for those that are trying to get their clout on social media. Now I know why I stopped posting... The love of the game is dead. I'll still lurk, as I have for years. But g-d damn, this place isn't what it used to be.
  3. Hey all! Haven't posted in a while but I've still been lurking and creating on my own time (whenever I can find some). I came up with an idea for an Arizona Cardinals logo that I would appreciate feedback on. I posted it to facebook a couple minutes ago, and this is that post: Thanks for viewing! Let me know what you think!
  4. A thin white/transparent line to separate the pink from brown would do wonders.
  5. Hey everyone! I haven't posted in a while, but have never, and will never, fully step away from designing and posing work. And, at this point, asking for some help and critique. I thought about posting this in concepts, but since it isn't sports logos related, thought that this would be the best place for it. I recently just quit my job and have been trying to live out my dreams as a comedian. So, that being said. I felt the need to of course create a brand for myself. The name's Alec, let me know what you think! Thanks everyone!
  6. Alright look, I've been away for a while and away from sports, football especially, since the Rams left St. Louis in 2016. If anyone dives deep enough into my profile, they'll see the absolute adoration I showed for the Rams for years. Being born and raised in St. Louis, having my dad work for the team, and having my grandpa take me to the games every Sunday was something that I lived for and cherish so much in my life. Football to me, and the Rams especially, were a family. That being said, I went into the game this afternoon absolutely wanting to see Tom Brady pull it out again in an electrifying performance to stick it to the Rams, and, for me, Kroenke specifically. However after talking with my dad, grandpa, and girlfriend, and seeing the old royal blue and yellow (granted, the bastardized version of the uniforms I once loved as a kid), I couldn't help but to want the Rams to win. Or, Tom Brady to lose again. Dad was for the Rams, Gramps was for the Bucs, and I was along for the ride, finding myself really wanting to see Stafford finally get a chance to play for a legitimate Super Bowl contender. So yeah, I absolutely loved this game. The only one I've watched all year honestly. I'm the GM of a pizza place so... Sundays are not for football for me, unfortunately. It was really cool to have my girlfriend meet my grandparents for the first time as they're aging, watching what seems to be the never-ending storyline of football; will Tom get another ring? This really has been one of the craziest NFL playoffs I can remember. I really wish St. Louis still had a team.
  7. Same. I did a search as well and couldn't find anything. I wonder if somehow he got his username switched back to whatever the original was.
  8. Aw man, I remember this. Was he banned or did he just fizzle out?
  9. Finally. I like my surname well enough, but I guarantee no one here knows how to pronounce it nor do many even know it's my name. I too like the idea of having a pinned thread where we all put OLD USERNAME >> NEW USERNAME.
  10. I hate it, but that doesn't mean I hate it. I would like to see the rest of the O6 for sure.
  11. First off - those Panthers sweaters are gorgeous. Dallas actually could work if the space theme used just silver and white starbursts. As is, it looks too photo-realistic to work. Tampa Bay and Winnipeg are the most 90s things I've seen this month... I love them.
  12. I completely forgot that you had an NHL series. I went back through and yes, there are many stripes. However, a bunch of them actually work. Those being the gradient stripes, most notably the Ottawa concept with the peace tower logo. Fantastic design there. Going back through the thread, a few things stood out to me: I see the Kings are a team you've played around with frequently. I really like two on page 10. The simplicity of the purple/white design is great but I'd love to see some gold thrown in on the sleeve and hem stripes. Your most recent Blues concept is gorgeous. The Blues are a team that could pull of a multi-striped jersey, for obvious reasons. I like the treatment of the bluenote on the white sweater in option B, while the blue jersey in option A is superior. I would buy a Beagles sweater yesterday if they were real. Your North Stars concept is one of the best I've seen. The most recent Coyotes concept of yours is so incredibly 90s that I want the brick red sweater on a hanger, in my closet, right next to my old kachina jersey that definitely doesn't fit me anymore. Overall, there are a lot of really creative designs throughout. It's refreshing to see more unique takes on teams that seem to get the same general treatment every other concept.
  13. I don't think it's too much at all. I did a Kings concept a while back with double purple as well. The stripes on the other hand may be a bit much. Having 4 (if we're counting white) different colored stripes in sequence looks awkward to me. I love the crest and the number font. The Kings are one of those teams that seem to change identities every decade, but never getting it right. They've never had a logo that stood out and looked good in doing so. This does. Overall with the colors and logo, it's a very regal identity, something I wish the Kings would embrace.
  14. Glorious. I too am confused as to why the 2013 Blackhawks were awarded the Stanley Cup.
  15. Ugh, that logo is so wonky and has so many faults. The perspective is off--the logo looks like it's trying to be 3-D at the bottom but the top is completely flat. Speaking of the top, the part where the derrick meets the star just abruptly stops, making it look awkward. The red H is outlined in white, yet the red star is not. The outline on the H is too thin when compared to the rest of the lines on the logo, not to mention that the H simply existing within the logo skews the line weights of the derrick's frame and poles. And try to convince me that the bottom half of the logo, just under the crossbar of the H, doesn't look like the face of an angry, block-headed, mustachioed man.
  16. I find myself wondering the same thing. The logo looks better upside down. I don't even think the 'STL' or the arch were intentionally thrown in there, because if they were, we'd be looking at a flipped logo right now. I wish the internet could garner up enough support to show the XFL that the logo looks better upside down and that there are some missed opportunities if not inverted. Hell, even the helmet would look awesome if the point of the sword served as the front of the helmet stripe and the wings wrapped around to the sides. I'd love to see a mock-up of this. I may try it myself just for $#!+s and gigs.
  17. It actually does. I was thinking that last night. On top of the "hidden" 'STL', if you cut off the top of the logo where the curved lines of the wings meet straight lines, there's an arch right there in the middle.
  18. Weird, that was one of the first things I noticed. When I first saw the logo, I thought it was redundant for 'DC' to appear twice. That aside, the font choice for the 'DC' at the bottom baffles me. All of the lines in the logo meet up at sharp points (as stars and lightning bolts generally do). All of the corners of the shield come together at a sharp angle as well but then you have this rounded 'DC' that looks like it was slapped on just minutes before the unveil. On top of that, even the 'D' looks more like an 'O'. I actually really like the logo; it's simple and effective. But the way the 'DC' reads at the bottom will always bug me.
  19. I had the exact same idea. If executed properly, it could be a really kickass looking helmet. While I'm not crazy about the name, I don't hate it. What bugs me most is its stylization. It should either read "Battlehawks" or "Battle Hawks." Admittedly though, I could see more similarities to the Blackhawks name, as others have mentioned, if they chose either of those. Especially considering the Blackhawks existed as the Black Hawks for a long while. But honestly, comparing the names is frivolous. Take a look at @GFB's post that I quoted above. I believe that the helmet will look similar to what he described. A Battlehawk actually is a thing, though. I'll admit, I had to look it up, but through a little bit of research I found out what it is. Ironically enough, the Battlehawk was developed to essentially be a new build of Black Hawk helicopters that upgraded their combat. There are different tiers of Battlehawk kits, each of which build upon the previous adding more firepower. So, if we're going to compare XFL football to the NHL, we can conclude that the St. Louis BattleHawks are a more powerful Chicago Blackhawks. Honestly, and maybe it's the homerism and/or my St. Louis football withdrawals, I think that this logo is the best in the league. The color scheme is beautiful, the logo is symmetric and bold, and it doesn't have that flat look like some of the other logos revealed (Tampa Bay, L.A., New York*). *Don't get me wrong, I love New York's overall identity, but everything to the left of the ear on the logo makes it appear really flat.
  20. Even though it begins with a 'B' and ends with 'Hawks,' I think it's different enough. Besides, completely different sport, league, and color scheme. This shouldn't be a problem.
  21. L.A. Wildcats? Wow, what a boring, conservative logo and name for a Los Angeles-based team.
  22. I could see this, unfortunately. I really dislike two word nicknames that use the adjective/noun pattern for no reason. Many are permissible, especially when the adjective is a color, like the Red Wings, Blue Devils, White Sox, etc. Or when it is actually describing something that physically exists (North Stars, Horned Frogs). But those that use a verb turned adjective to describe the noun (i.e. fighting, flying, chasers, strikers, etc.) sound amateurish to me. EDIT: BattleHawks? Eh, not the worst. I can live with it.
  23. As excited as I am to see the return of football to St. Louis, I'm nervous based on some speculation that the team name will be the Aces. Or worse, based on this tweet that was posted a couple pages back
