  1. Southland Conference tournament goes from this to this
  2. Agreed. However some professors at A&M did manage to alter bluebonnets to become maroonbonnets. I remember a few years back some A&M students spread a bunch of seeds of the maroon variety in the beds where bluebonnets appear at UT and come march UTs campus had a lovely shade of maroon everywhere
  3. Texas A&M going with Corps of Cadets inspired khaki uniforms
  4. Those were bluebonnets? Maybe looking from the top. A side profile would have made it more clear those were bluebonnets.
  5. Oxy is officially the jersey sponsor on the Astros uniforms for the next 7 years. For those who dont know, its an oil company (Occidental Petroleum)
  6. Its a modern take on our 1969 uniform. It was a bad idea then and a bad idea now
  7. I had forgotten that the Eagles changed their word mark, This one does look much better in the current super bowl template than the previous one.
  8. Texas A&M has worn a couple of different one-time alts from Adidas the past 2 weekends. Pink was worn for breast cancer awareness. This is supposed to honor black excellence. The aggTies is a throwback look. I'm not familair enough with the rest to know what it represents other than what the tweet says
  9. The Texans were fully embraced and supported through many bad seasons from the start until the end of the 2019 season. Then the Texans made many horrible trades (Deandre Hopkins and cuts in the name of "team culture." You combine that with Deshaun Watson asking to be traded followed by the numerous allegations and many locally just stopped caring. The team went from a mid-pack playoff contender to bottom dweller overnight. They had a season ticket waiting list over 15,000 deep and now the waiting list is non-existent. If the team showed some signs of life the fans would come back fast as we do love our football here. But its hard to support a franchise that for a few years it did not seem they were trying to field a good team. If they went with columbia blue it would provide a spark as the only time the Texans have been mentioned locally in the past 3 years was as a punchline.
  10. OXY? DAAAAANGIT. The only way I will accept it is if the remove the GIANT ASS OXY sign in left field.
  11. Abilene Christian University is affiliated with Church of Christ (which broke away from Disciples of Christ in the late 19th century early 20th century.) Grand Canyon University started as a Baptist University. But you're right about it being weird seeing the acronym without it being purple
  12. The Dynamo's stadium has a new name. What became PNC Stadium after PNC bought out BBVA's US banks, is now renamed after Shell's retail energy division to become Shell Energy Stadium. This is the 4th name for the stadium about to begin its 11th season. BBVA Compass Stadium (2012–2019)BBVA Stadium (2019–2021)PNC Stadium (2021–2022) Shell Energy Stadium (2023-Present)
  13. I may be biased but we (Houston) have a pretty good skyline It will probably be space themed as that is our most unique local design feature other generic texas theme or oil companies
  14. Thats pretty much true for all college conferences except the SWAC. SEC Nike/Jordan - 10 Adidas - 2 Under Armour - 2 Big 12 Nike/Jordan - 8 11 Adidas - 1 Under Armour - 1 2 Big Ten Nike/Jordan - 9 Adidas - 3 Under Armour - 1 ACC Nike/Jordan - 9 Adidas - 4* Under Armour - 1** New Balance - 1* * Boston College wears Adidas for football and New Balance for all other sports **Notre Dame
  15. I wonder if the bit in the press release about BSN Sports means that their apparel deal isn't directly with Nike but rather BSN Sports agreeing to supply them Nike equipment. If so, I wouldn't expect too many custom designs and Cal just going with catalogue uniforms
  16. Did their Under Armour deal reach the end of the contract or did Under Armour terminate this one early too?
  17. An updated Husky logo and new wordmark finally came. https://hcuhuskies.com/documents/2023/1/10/HCU_Athletics_Style_Guide_2023.pdf
  18. Delta is in a fight with Alaska/American Airlines for being the main airline at SeaTac. Delta is firmly the main airline at ATL
  19. I love how the Superdome is incorporated into the 1980 one
  20. Perhaps CBS has plans to sell the station in the not too distant future. It helps if people are used to it no longer being KCBS. i'm sure it will stay a CBS affiliate, but it would be weird for KCBS to be named for someone who no longer owns it
  21. Attendance was so bad in Houston after the team announced their plans to move to Nashville that they figured playing in Memphis and Vanderbilt Stadium was a better option than 2 more lame duck seasons in Houston. I think by the team going for alliteration and being named Tennessee makes it a little harder for neutral football viewers to associate the team with Nashville. I also feel Nashville's national relevancy is certainly more of a recent trend. Back when the Oilers moved there all I knew about it was thats the place where country music is made and since I didn't like country music AND they stole my NFL team I really disliked Nashville.
  22. But location matters considering its what links you to the same fan base of that previous franchise. The Texans came to town so soon after the Oilers left that there was always going to be a comparison and a yearning to link to them. The Texans ownership did their best to pretend the Oilers never existed and tried to create a clean slate. If they would have gotten over the hump and made it to the super bowl once in the past 21 seasons, the identity would be thought of fondly and surpassed any positive association Houstonians have of the Oilers. Instead it's been 21 years of bad to mediocre football with 2 really good seasons hence why they are probably looking at revamping the look to re-spark interest and kick off a new era.
  23. Official communication from the Texans that they are exploring a uniform change for the 2024 season https://www.houstontexans.com/news/texans-seek-fan-feedback-on-possible-uniform-changes
  24. Coincidently, this came out the same day that the Texans sent a survey to season ticket holders asking their opinion on potential new uniform ideas. They asked fans to check which ideas they liked. Colors: oiler blue, dark blue, black, red, battle red Lettering: traditional (green bay) or unique (rams) Uniform design: traditional or unique
  25. I love the uniform combo and the troll job
