  1. In rather unsurprising news, the Manor F1 team are in deep financial trouble. It went down to the final race as to who would finish in last place in the constructor's standings between Manor and Sauber. Unfortunately for the British team, Felipe Nasr picked up 2 points in the Brazilian Grand Prix which leapfrogged Sauber ahead of Manor. This had deep financial implications because the prize money for teams in F1 is based on the constructors standings and is notoriously unfair on the smaller teams. This result is reported to have cost Manor around £10m. Until the revenues are shared more equally, we are always going to have teams living below the breadline and depending on pay drivers and other investors to survive. Manor Racing enter administration and are on brink of collapse
  2. ...looks like the local journo was right. I have no idea whether this is a good appointment or not to be honest. I guess it all depends whether the owners back him during the transfer window and if so, will they buy sensibly? Marco Silva: Hull City appoint ex-Sporting & Olympiakos boss
  3. Every now and then in soccer, the referee can decide on the day that there is not enough of a difference between the two teams uniforms. The away team normally only brings one uniform with them so quite often they are forced to wear the away uniform of their opponent. This has happened twice for my local team Tranmere Rovers to my knowledge. Below is Colchester United vs Tranmere Rovers in 2014. The guy on the right is Tranmere player Max Power (best name in sports) wearing the Colchester United clash kit. Tranmere won the match 2-1. A bit longer ago, Sheffield Wednesday visited Tranmere Rovers in 2000. The referee deemed that there was not enough of a clash between the two kits, so Sheffield Wednesday had to wear Tranmere's green away kit. The real Tranmere Rovers won the match 2-0.
  4. ^^^ what he said. The black socks and off-white really work well for a throwback kit.
  5. How about a Team GB style lion in the shape of the map of the UK/Great Britain?
  6. Not sure if this link will work: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/q484dhlrdaQZVPtC6BLebzmL0HnuvXuhJ84deXfFljEeOseoJoxO7jzNZM4ljoDr52YtI6WzF2rF38qqPCoS60IpLOno It was just something I rushed during my lunch break - the nickname of the team and stadium name and location in Copperplate Gothic Bold because that font is used on the team logo (Tranmere Rovers). I'm thinking that maybe outside the obvious of the design itself not being very good, that perhaps they're reluctant to have big businesses use community submissions when they can have the club pay for one of the event ones?
  7. To be honest, it never even crossed my mind that these could be submitted by the public. Thanks for sharing. I've just submitted something for the stadium of my local soccer team. I wonder how long until I get my rejection email.
  8. Sorry this isn't the most helpful feedback but great job again. You are consistently doing a fantastic job of creating realistic identities and kits. It's always enjoyable to check this thread.
  9. To be fair, my reaction to most of these has been "neato". So nobody can claim false advertising with the thread title. Navy pinstripes on gold is a look that I wasn't keen on at first - especially when Spurs released their 3rd kit (below) this year but it has grown on me. I think that it definitely works for your Brewers concept and like you said, it embraces the whole point of Color Rush.
  10. I can't really comment on the track layouts themselves as oval racing is a pretty foreign concept to me - not being from North America and all that. But everything else you have considered, such as commentary booths, parking, lighting, seating etc, makes for some interesting concepts to read through and view. As usual they are very well presented - even by your high standards.
  11. So, as previously hinted, K-Mag is leaving Renault at the end of this season and will drive for Haas in 2017. It's hard to tell whether this is a step up or down because both teams are looking to improve next year. Renault have shown their intent by recruiting Hulkenberg and Haas will have learnt a lot from their mostly positive first season in the sport and have a good foundation to build upon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/37920386
  12. Pretty much my thoughts too. I originally thought more red to acknowledge the Ferrari link would be better but as the season has gone on, their actual look has grown on me significantly and I think it would seem weird if they changed it much for next season. Not too different to what happened with the real McLaren liveries to be honest. They went to a lot of effort producing the chrome and red livery used 2007 onwards only for bottom of the grid teams like Hispania, Virgin and Marussia (as you point out) to produce schemes which looked similar at first glance.
  13. I don't think you'll be in any hurry to wear it again after that result.
  14. Chelsea have reportedly signed a £900m 15 year deal with Nike to start next summer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37652612 This is a record breaking amount for a single deal but does not beat the £750m 10 year deal that Manchester United currently have in terms of amount per year.
  15. I will send you a PM - and anyone else after it should PM me too. Keep this thread clear for Raysox's concepts. The source image I used to make my template from is all over the internet though. Making your own templates is fun and a useful skill to have. Yeah I noticed a like on my McLaren concept and thought it was really random until I saw this thread haha. I'm very familiar with that video and YouTube channel. He was invited by Codemasters to help develop/give input on the F1 2016 game that came out recently and made some videos about it. I have noticed some people using PC mods on this year's game but I'm not expecting you to do the same. Was just trying to influence you slightly haha.
  16. Press release on the controversy regarding Gerard Piqué's jersey http://www.sefutbol.com/en/official-press-release-controversy-regarding-gerard-piques-jersey
  17. A nice combination of eras and more versatile than what they currently have. I like what you've done here. Great job... even if it pains me to say so as someone who has followed Spurs for 20 years.
  18. Great to see an F1 thread. I hope you do post more concepts. Giving orange and green more prominence is defintely the right way to go with Force India. It's a unique scheme and is synonymous with their brand. Their recent looks have shied away from that. For McLaren I'd be interested to see how it looks if the logos on the red parts were in chrome too. Maybe it would be overkill though. Not really any critiques otherwise. I personally don't mind the similarities between Red Bull and Toro Rosso but I think you've had a good idea to use the Toro Rosso car to promote another product in the Red Bull brand. I do kind of miss the angrier/musclier version of the bull that Toro Rosso use though. What are the chances of this eventually leading to modding a PC game? I've enjoyed seeing your past concepts be realized in NASCAR and Footy Manager for example.
  19. I don't think it's banter to be honest. The word banter implies that it's back and forth. It's more of a one-sided affair with other nations picking on the state of the FA with us English having no retort.
  20. I think since Beckham's red card at the 1998 World Cup it's been consistently bad to be an England fan. Scandals have been rife and the English press seem adamant on sabotaging any kind of success by overhyping the team and creating scape goats (Allardyce's downfall is all his own doing though). 50 years isn't wrong overall... but there have been a few good times in between, such as the 1986 & 1990 World Cups and Euro 1996.
  21. I know you should be careful what you wish for but I will be glad to see Bernie step aside. There's no doubting his role in turning F1 into what it is today. I just feel like the last 10 years or so has been too money orientated and the competition and entertainment side has been affected. With a media group looking to take over, you would hope that they want to increase the popularity by making it a better spectacle. Although F1 is incredibly popular, it isn't really geared towards attracting new (and young) fans right now but I think it could be a perfect time to improve that.
