  1. I would've been just fine with them dropping the asymmetrical numbers and leaving everything else as is, but this is even better, two very good helmets that aren't just a swap. Really liked their, what I consider anyways, traditional all-blue with no stripe helmet they wore for 90's-10's so am glad to see it back as the primary. That being said, I liked bringing back the Blue/Orange split stripe on White the revived a few years ago dating back to that 90 team that reached #1, so to keep that as well is fantastic. Well done.

I'm legitimately curious here, would y'all still be ranking Michigan as the best uniforms if they didn't bring back the iconic Panther helmet?

It's hard to not factor it in and the helmet puts it over the top... but I'd still probably have them up there because of the color scheme. Its a vintage style with a unique color scheme and great helmet.

New Honoring Black Excellence uniforms have started to pop up (men’s on left, women’s on right):

This is the first time in a long while I’ve worked on basketball, and the first time I’ve designed a collection this large on my own (18 teams total, each with a men’s and women’s squad). Each one uses a different pastel color set off with a custom floral pattern. The flowers are either state flowers (like the goldenrods for Nebraska and the violets for Rutgers) or flowers that are native to campus (like cherry blossoms for UW). All the men’s wordmarks come from jerseys worn by the first black players at each school.

That's cool the designer for these in particular is on here - can you explain the Black Excellence tag and why its purple and orange? I was trying to figure it out when NC State showed off ours and was surprised that wasn't in the description. I don't think I recall ever seeing those colors used in a Black History/Excellence theming before and was curious as to why.

    Very cool sets too.

The 90s helmets had much thicker navy helmet stripes...thus making the "it's in the details" line pretty ironic.

Did the 90's uniforms have a noticeable difference in the shades of the top and the helmet? Something looks off and they don't match today, they do with their current uniforms so its odd.

Thought that was Arky State at first glance

Definitely something more fit for Arkansas State or Northern Illinois, it feels like they've explored just about every option with red, black, silver, and white... wish the alternate could be a throwback uniform more often than a random colorway.

  6. New State alts for 11/14 vs Florida State - Blood Moon

    Original Speculation from teaser video...

    Spoiler

    Judging from this...

Matte Black helmet with regular sized Tuffy head logo, no stripe.

Red jersey color swap with black and chrome outline on numbers/striping and WOLFPACK instead of NC STATE on chest.

Black Pants, maybe NC STATE on pants leg instead of Wolfpack in the red/chrome coloring - maybe just plain black?

I'm conflicted, as ultimately they've needed a new logo, but this is so... lifeless looking. The CLT is not a good secondary logo, and it looks so out of whack. The wordmark feels like some weird Falcons ripoff, I guess at least the tertiary and primary are ok by themselves...

This could've been much better but at least this means we won't see those god awful chrome gold football helmets anymore... I hope...

It's more strange that you made that up...

I did not expect this response lol - mostly just referring to their recruiting efforts, like this tweet.

Could be worse... we could be N.C. State

If you're ok with other schools using your most prominent alum for marketing then whatever, personally I would find it annoying.

probably more likely capitalizing on the success of the Last Dance

Yea, but why? USCAR and UNC love to argue about who the real "Carolina" is, propping up an icon that went to Chapel-Hill is pretty silly on their part. Teams outside of UNC and the Hornets using the Jordan brand is pretty dumb already, but it would be especially so for a school in direct competition with one of them. Of course UNC is also a school who celebrates and advertises Mack Brown's title at Texas as their own which is very strange. In the end, both schools are silly places so I suppose it all makes sense.

  10. Apparently, back when Duke and Georgetown first rolled out their BFBS alternates in the late '90s, UNC was supposed to follow suit with a dark-blue alternate. It never saw the court.

Good idea to never let these see the light of day by UNC - those aren't good.
