  2. There are already too many MLB teams in media markets that marquee players either a) will never be interested in playing in, and/or b) are markets whose owners won't support making such big investments into the team. Either or both of these things hinder those teams abilities to ever compete for winning the World Series, which of course is the #1 goal of any team. MLB, and other sports for that matter, gain very little from any further expansion at this point. How many MLB teams are there as is whose basic function seems to be nothing more than "to exist" right now? We don't need to add more to that list.
  3. The same is true for the Braves in the NL.
  4. Yes. For whichever network only has regional rights in a given week, you either get a 1:00 game or a 4:00 game, but you don't get a game in both windows.
  5. Rays found out that, even after 16 years, if you dress like the Devil Rays, you're in danger of playing like the Devil Rays. For shame. We'll probably never see those uniforms in a playoff game ever again.
  6. By all means, lets build a new stadium in the same damn place where there's still going to be issues getting people from Tampa or Sarasota or Clearwater...how stupid can you be? I don't care for the argument of "not enough of a local fanbase", because the Lightning are also a '90s expansion franchise and they've been wildly popular for a long time. It's not a good argument. The difference is the Lightning play in downtown Tampa, a very accessible area with a larger population base that also can draw people from Orlando and Lakeland and Kissimmee if they want to make the drive. You don't get that in St. Petersburg, you're surrounded by the ing water in almost every direction and terrible rush hour traffic and people aren't making that g-ddamned drive on a regular basis. Build a new stadium for the Rays in St. Petersburg, and all you get is the same arguments about attendance existing for the next 40+ years.
  7. That Rays tweet takes the words out of the post I was about to write...kinda neat though. I always liked the green-based Devil Rays uniforms better but either way it's fun to see that.
  8. Week 4 results: Week 4 winner(s): @MJWalker45, @SFGiants58, and @~Bear with 13-3 records Week 5 schedule: Chicago vs. Washington Jacksonville vs. Buffalo New Orleans vs. New England Tennessee vs. Indianapolis Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh Carolina vs. Detroit Houston vs. Atlanta NY Giants vs. Miami Cincinnati vs. Arizona Philadelphia vs. LA Rams NY Jets vs. Denver Kansas City vs. Minnesota Dallas vs. San Francisco Green Bay vs. Las Vegas bye: TB, SEA, CLE, LAC
  9. The NFL should never go the route of ditching the knee high socks. I hate the leggings look as much as anyone, the pants and socks should never be the same color, but I'll take the leggings look over short socks and bare skin...frankly, it's the one thing I've always hated the most about the CFB aesthetic, and I appreciated that guys like Joe Burrow actually did wear knee-high purple socks at LSU.
  10. Detroit vs. Green Bay Atlanta vs. Jacksonville LA Rams vs. Indianapolis Baltimore vs. Cleveland Minnesota vs. Carolina Cincinnati vs. Tennessee Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans Miami vs. Buffalo Denver vs. Chicago Washington vs. Philadelphia Pittsburgh vs. Houston Las Vegas vs. LA Chargers Arizona vs. San Francisco New England vs. Dallas Kansas City vs. NY Jets Seattle vs. NY Giants
  11. Week 3 results: Week 3 winner: @waltere getting back on track with a 12-4 week. I'm in 27th place...yuck. Week 4 schedule: Detroit vs. Green Bay Atlanta vs. Jacksonville LA Rams vs. Indianapolis Baltimore vs. Cleveland Minnesota vs. Carolina Cincinnati vs. Tennessee Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans Miami vs. Buffalo Denver vs. Chicago Washington vs. Philadelphia Pittsburgh vs. Houston Las Vegas vs. LA Chargers Arizona vs. San Francisco New England vs. Dallas Kansas City vs. NY Jets Seattle vs. NY Giants Broncos/Bears...holy Lord you've got to be kidding me. Football gods scheduled that -show perfectly.
  12. I'm gonna stand by my somewhat unpopular opinion that the Chargers best look both away and at home involves the white pants and not the yellow ones...I'm generally not a fan of the helmets, jerseys, and pants all being different colors, and this is especially true when the helmets are white...the white/powder/yellow look just doesn't do it for me. At the risk of using an unpopular buzz word, white/powder/white and all white w/powder socks are just "cleaner" looks to me. I like all-white looks best with white helmets and either colored socks or white socks w/stripes on them. Chargers pull it off. Saints and Bills look like trash.
  13. 14. Week 2 results: Week 2 winner: @Jake3roo with a 13-3 record. (My apologies for forgetting to do this when posting) Week 3 schedule: NY Giants vs. San Francisco Atlanta vs. Detroit LA Chargers vs. Minnesota New Orleans vs. Green Bay Houston vs. Jacksonville Denver vs. Miami Tennessee vs. Cleveland Buffalo vs. Washington Indianapolis vs. Baltimore New England vs. NY Jets Carolina vs. Seattle Chicago vs. Kansas City Dallas vs. Arizona Pittsburgh vs. Las Vegas Philadelphia vs. Tampa Bay LA Rams vs. Cincinnati
  15. NHL's pre-season schedule begins a little over a week from today, the regular season beginning is less than a month away, making this as good a time as any to begin this season's NHL thread. To kick it off - Mike Babcock's Columbus career might not make it to opening night.
  16. This is a reminder to everyone to please check your records as well, because unfortunately there is always the risk I'm going to make a mistake somewhere...~30 people, 16 games...I try my best but that's a lot of opportunities to make a mistake. And do as Chawls did and tag me (or quote my end-of-week post). I'm not on this website as much as I used to be and I generally don't check this thread during the week when picks are being made...but obviously I do get a notification alert when quoted or tagged so I'll notice those immediately. The correction will be seen on Week 2's post and has been made in my notes. Thanks. Minnesota vs. Philadelphia Baltimore vs. Cincinnati Seattle vs. Detroit Indianapolis vs. Houston Chicago vs. Tampa Bay Kansas City vs. Jacksonville Green Bay vs. Atlanta Las Vegas vs. Buffalo LA Chargers vs. Tennessee San Francisco vs. LA Rams NY Giants vs. Arizona NY Jets vs. Dallas Washington vs. Denver Miami vs. New England New Orleans vs. Carolina Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh
  17. Week 1 results: Week 1 winner(s): @PERRIN, @JayHawk786, and @DustDevil61 with 11 wins each Week 2 schedule: Minnesota vs. Philadelphia Baltimore vs. Cincinnati Seattle vs. Detroit Indianapolis vs. Houston Chicago vs. Tampa Bay Kansas City vs. Jacksonville Green Bay vs. Atlanta Las Vegas vs. Buffalo LA Chargers vs. Tennessee San Francisco vs. LA Rams NY Giants vs. Arizona NY Jets vs. Dallas Washington vs. Denver Miami vs. New England New Orleans vs. Carolina Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh
  18. Football is a funny game. 22 grown men chase a ball around for 60 minutes and, in the end, Zach Wilson is still the Jets ing quarterback.
  19. Posting this here because it feels more appropriate here than the broadcast graphics thread...Fox having the Bear head logo instead of the C in their scoring graphic just looks weird.
  20. Detroit vs. Kansas City Cincinnati vs. Cleveland Houston vs. Baltimore Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota Carolina vs. Atlanta Arizona vs. Washington Jacksonville vs. Indianapolis San Francisco vs. Pittsburgh Tennessee vs. New Orleans Las Vegas vs. Denver Philadelphia vs. New England LA Rams vs. Seattle Miami vs. LA Chargers Green Bay vs. Chicago Dallas vs. NY Giants Buffalo vs. NY Jets
  21. It's Labor Day, so you know what that means. Week 1: Detroit vs. Kansas City Cincinnati vs. Cleveland Houston vs. Baltimore Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota Carolina vs. Atlanta Arizona vs. Washington Jacksonville vs. Indianapolis San Francisco vs. Pittsburgh Tennessee vs. New Orleans Las Vegas vs. Denver Philadelphia vs. New England LA Rams vs. Seattle Miami vs. LA Chargers Green Bay vs. Chicago Dallas vs. NY Giants Buffalo vs. NY Jets Good luck.
  22. This is from 1993 and yet it's better than anything ESPN has ever done for promoting an NBA game of any kind. And there are several more examples I could find if I wanted.
