    Weirdly enough, I'm actually fine with the single color shoulder numbers on the Flyers' orange jersey, but on the white jersey they look awful. Something about the black on white looks much more substantial than the white on orange.

    They'll likely eventually get the trademark. The denial was based on the Army-Air Force game called the Commanders' Classic and a Trademark Squatter who has claimed he'll give them up for free to the team. They'll have their lawyers argue that the Washington Commanders won't be confused with a single college football game. That should be persuasive, though when it comes to soft IP in the US the logical outcome doesn't always occur. The other trademarks will either be abandoned or turned over to the team for free or they'll pay the guy to obtain them.

    The 49ers were able to use a black jersey despite it only being on the on the logo on the regular jerseys, so the change probably wouldn't have been necessary for that.

    Ah, the ol' accidentally clicked with the type tool selected on an extremely large document and didn't notice it.

    The background texture of the crossword puzzle is a jersey fabric which looks like the panels that nike uses on its pants. It very likely means literally nothing.

    I was making a joke because the post you were responding to was blaming soccer for teams dressing like the thing they're named after and it's not actually remotely true in the MLS.

    I will say, the best outcome from all this would be if TruColor was messing with everybody, didn't have any contact, and never had any clue whatsoever what the uniform was going to look like.

    That's certainly fair. I do wonder if the lack of a single, unifying force that we can all gather around to laugh at might also be part of the cause. Usually we've gotten random leakers from reddit who were making up absolutely wild claims that resulted in plenty of genuine fun and comedy in the lead up. This time it was an actual respected member providing the info that is pretty reasonable.

    I can explain it. Cartoonish, amateur giant swords on the shoulders, barely legible numbers, a pointless little pit stain of color that adds literally nothing to the design, a pointless square of grey on the pants that adds literally nothing to the design and half the time doesn't include the team's two main colors, monochrome hell, and to top it all off a nice splotch of red not used anywhere else to tell everyone exactly who to thank for jerking off in our cornflakes.
