These uniforms sound terrible

I was making a joke because the post you were responding to was blaming soccer for teams dressing like the thing they're named after and it's not actually remotely true in the MLS.

I will say, the best outcome from all this would be if TruColor was messing with everybody, didn't have any contact, and never had any clue whatsoever what the uniform was going to look like.

That's certainly fair. I do wonder if the lack of a single, unifying force that we can all gather around to laugh at might also be part of the cause. Usually we've gotten random leakers from reddit who were making up absolutely wild claims that resulted in plenty of genuine fun and comedy in the lead up. This time it was an actual respected member providing the info that is pretty reasonable.

I can explain it. Cartoonish, amateur giant swords on the shoulders, barely legible numbers, a pointless little pit stain of color that adds literally nothing to the design, a pointless square of grey on the pants that adds literally nothing to the design and half the time doesn't include the team's two main colors, monochrome hell, and to top it all off a nice splotch of red not used anywhere else to tell everyone exactly who to thank for jerking off in our cornflakes.

Nah, this is pretty par for the course. Back when the Vikings and Jaguars released their uniforms people were going full CSI on images that were about this quality (recreation for dramatic effect). This site always falls apart right before an NFL reveal.

Not even remotely close. The Jets look isn't very good, but at least there's a semblance of cohesion. The Titans look is just Nike randomly barfing every terrible idea they've ever had.

Alright, @TruColor. I think I nailed it based on all the hints.

I love when we get close to a reveal on this site because someone will spitball something like "this color scheme would look good for the cardinals" Which immediately is followed by five pages of people treating the post like a leak and genuinely debating whether they'll wear uniforms inspired by catholic cardinals.

A couple soccer teams have broken out jerseys with gradients that work.

Any time someone says Reebok jerseys were better constructed than Nike's I can only think of these and the Jaguars awful jerseys. It's one thing to make a template that can't handle traditional stripes, or a template that can't handle modern designs, but to have a template that can't handle ANY designs is a whole other thing.

You've got the analogy backwards. Betamax is generally considered to have had better video and audio quality than VHS and a better overall product. So if anything Nike is the VHS of the industry since they're the top dog but can't do the little things as well as the smaller companies being pushed out.

It certainly helps that both teams use black as their secondary color. Makes the designs actually feel like team designs unlike other years.
