  1. As much as I would actually love to see Tom Brady win a 5th ring (even as a Bears fan I still appreciate greatness) I can't imagine what the heck a fifth trophy would look like on a ring. They might be the first team to have championship brass knuckles...Dear Lord those are ginormous!!!
  2. Why? It's so super. You know...groovy. It's far-out, man. just saw this and I read it in Jon Gruden's voicejust saw this and I read it as Frank Caliendo's impression of Jon Gruden's voice
  3. Thank you for your recommendation of this movie. I will definitely want to see it now. The ads on TV and the radio certainly didn't seem to do it much justice because they seemed so cheesy and predictable. I was under the impression that it was trying too hard to be football's version of Moneyball. Glad to hear that you liked it. I will put it on my must see list.
  4. Unpopular opinion: That's an amazing uniform. The Astros should go back to it full-time. Exactly my opinion. No lie. It's amazing.Isn't this a popular opinion? The tequila sunrise uniforms were greatHappy happy Maybe the unpopular opinion is that the navy caps are better than the orange caps with this uniform set. I love this set but HATE the orange caps. Navy caps are the way to go in my opinion.
  5. Still doesn't change my thought process behind my comment. They are making it more about LeBron and less about the franchise. There should be THREE trophies on the FRONT of the ring. If they want to make a note about LeBron or the three players coming together or whatever, then do it on the SIDE. I'm not a fan of what they did...maybe its just me. I'm no fan of his, but I think you're wrong here. When you've got back-to-back championships, I'm okay with celebrating that on the front of the ring at the expense of all prior titles. We agree to disagree then. I feel that it should always be about the franchise on the front and the individual stories on the sides. I believe it has been that way for years and I don't know of any other professional ring that mimics this trend. I could be totally wrong, but I don't remember a team doing anything similar to this. I'm not against a team bucking the trend and creating something new. I'm just not a fan of this. It seems way too pretentious for my liking. The Lakers have done it with their recent rings. Great point. I actually noticed that after I commented while researching some of the past NBA rings. They had three triangles on the ring that seemed to represent the three titles as well as something that Jackson and the team were preaching throughout their quest. If I remember correctly it was something esoteric, which was typical of Jackson's philosophies at the time. Somehow I still don't like it with the Heat though. I must be projecting too much of my feelings about the whole LeBron thing. Who knows?

  8. ^ Exactly. I think they might be acknowledging the whole "LeBron Repeat" Phenomenon. I personally don't like that.
  9. While I appreciated this look, I believe that their current red, white & blue look is much better. I will say that I actually prefer the old Wizards jerseys with these same colors as opposed to the red, white & blue Bullets knock offs.
  10. I like that one better than thier last one. I think that pic is black and white. The actual rings look like they have gold in them. That said, the 2010 rings are my favorites. Perfect example of how a little bit of color, with the perfect placement takes a totally bland design and makes it classy and downright perfect. The Tigers' ring is on point while the Giants' ring seems like its missing something. Both have eye pleasing designs, but only the Tigers' ring feels complete to me. Sad because their ring is only for an AL Championship and not the whole shabang.
  11. This comment doesn't belong in this particular thread in my opinion. I also think their logo is great and in due time most people will too. Its too early to put them in this category because it is way too new.
  12. Interesting, I'd say just the opposite. The old one looks like it could've evolved from something from the early-mid 20th century. The new one screams "1999" to me. After watching the SB last night I went online and researched the logo and uniform history of the Ravens and I agree that the "old" look with the winged shield helmets are far superior to the current look. I almost wonder if it would have been worth it for the franchise to just buy out the guy who sued them and continue using the look. That being said, I'm not a fan of the first set of uniforms that they unveiled. I'm not sure what year it was from, but at some point in their early history they used the winged shield helmets with a uniform set that looked a lot more like the current one (which I actually like). It even featured that spread wing flying raven on the sleeves, which I find to be absolutely gorgeous.
  13. I don't necessarily hate their athletic gold ones, but I'm with you on the new colors are way better. As long as gold pants are worn with it, it's a great look. I don't even mind blue pants on the road only. Add me to the list of people who prefer the gold pants to anything else they've worn with the newer uni set. Does anyone know why it seems like most "metallic" colors like silver and gold aren't being replicated as such in pant fabrics anymore? It seemed like it was so simple to do years ago but now the look seems non-existent. Does it have something to do with the new performance materials or is it more of an aesthetic choice? I was just wondering, because I don't mind grey being used in place of silver but tan (or mustard) in place of gold is incredibly annoying in my opinion.
  14. Agreed. That's their best look. didn't think so for the first two quarters but it definitely grew on me the more I watched. Great look. The less white the better IMO.
  15. I agree that navy and copper look better than their blue and orange, but the red really threw it off. I don't know why a lot of teams in the 90s felt the need to add red. If Gretzky had worn these while the Oilers were spanking the entire hockey world in the 80's then maybe I'd be swayed, but I still can't bring myself to accept the navy. sorry.
  16. I agree about the color scheme. I think what killed it for me overall was the goofy looking word mark. I also preferred the bronze over the gold FWIW.
  17. Well firstly I wouldn't consider the Islanders' logo classic at all, but anyway, I do have a problem with that jersey. I love the design and overall look, I just don't get the logo. They're not the Buffalo Buffaloes. We get it, your city is named after an animal, why does the logo have to be that animal, especially when the name of the team is different? The other logos you mentioned at least represent the city and team name. (Though they're better than the Buffalo Bills, naming the team after the guy who slaughtered thousands of those animals. I think I've said this before.) totally off subject but your avatar pic is hilarious. It took me a minute but I just got it. simply fantastic. *thumbs up*
  18. That would be interesting...never heard of that. I would say that if it were the case then couldn't the owners of the original logo just sue the new owners because the two logos are pretty much identical?
  19. The original logo is so superior to this one in my opinion. Why couldn't they have just brought it back and be done with it? There seems to be this "thing" that happens when teams bring back old school logos and unis where they feel like they have to over modernize them (refer to: Chargers, Bills, Sabres, etc.) Probably because if they did, then people would complain it looks too outdated. And I agree with them, for some retro looks. An old logo occasionally needs to be touched up a little bit if brought back, so that it doesn't look completely out of place. I do agree with you on the need to be touched up a bit but as I mentioned I think many teams miss the mark on their resurrected logos. I will say that the AZ Cardinals did a great job of that and so did the Seahawks; unfortunately their uniforms weren't as well done.
  20. why did they wrap the entire logo in Saran Wrap? The original logo is so superior to this one in my opinion. Why couldn't they have just brought it back and be done with it? There seems to be this "thing" that happens when teams bring back old school logos and unis where they feel like they have to over modernize them (refer to: Chargers, Bills, Sabres, etc.) All they had to do was just bring back the old school look un touched and it would have been fine. Take a page from the Beatles and let it be.
  21. So do I but I actually give them a pass on the italics because the numbers are simple without any outlines with a clean back drop of the complete opposite color. Works for me.
  22. You are entitled to your opinion, even if it might be deemed extremely "unpopular" if you asked most football fans. There is something to be said about classic and classy football uniforms that stand the test of time. Not every team can or should be Oregon. Not all classic sets have to be dull and uninspired. IMO the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Detroit Red Wings, Green Bay Packers, LA Lakers, just to name a few have classic looks that also look good. To me, the Bears uniforms are just too boring and lack any appeal, but once again, unpopular opinion. With all due respect I fail to see what is so much more "inspiring" about the above mentioned uniforms. At least the Bears utilize TWO primary colors apart from white...THREE of the teams you listed don't. You can make a case that a couple of those jerseys are about as "uninspiring" as you can get. Again, you are entitled to your opinion as am I. For example, I think the Yankees have one of the most classic home jerseys in sports, yet one of the most dull and bland road jerseys. I'm sure its not a popular opinion but its one I stand by. To each his own.

  24. Although I think the Fins need a complete overhaul, I also prefer the newer logo to what they had prior. The navy trim and modernization of the dolphin looks real good. I've just never been sold on the whole 'dolphin wearing a helmet' and the orange sun behind him. They can do so much better IMO.
  25. I actually found it fascinating that so many of the rings utilized the baseball diamond design in the center of the ring. I wonder what made them go away from that design. Could it have been the influence of the big and overdone NFL Super Bowl rings? I know that when it comes to gaudy over the top rings you can always count on the NFL to come through. I will have to do some comparisons between the NFL rings and the MLB rings year by year to see if there is any correlation. I would bet that there is.
