  1. This has been a project I've thought of for quite some time. I believe I've posted about it in the Concept Thinktank thread and I reached out to some board members for possible collab. I finally got it off the ground and instead of posting the process here as a concept thread as I went I decided to reach out to kit manufacturer Olive & York. We've now got pre-orders for this ridiculous series open, and since they're all done I'll just dump all 10 kits here for you to critique. Racing Mercury FC - named with a classic soccer name for the speed at which Mercury orbits the Sun. The pattern takes from the false color images of Mercury. I started with a grey/black kit but couldn't pass up the opportunity for those wild colors. Venusia FC - Really leaned into Boticelli for Venus, and a little inspiration from Atalanta BC. Earth Explorers - This 70s styled kit's moodboard was original NASL and vintage Earth Day posters. The pattern tilts at 23.5 degrees just like Earth's axis. Mars Rovers - Another classic soccer nickname. Rover tracks meander across the Martian Sunrise hooped kit. Gigantus FC - The largest planet in our Solar System. I started with Joviantus, and the Juventus inspiration is obvious. I wanted to move a bit further from their brand so I went with a G/J logo instead of just J. Thus the name change. The kit was inspired by Forward Madison's Drip Kit, appropriate for the swirling storms of Jupiter. Saturn SC - Used the rings to make a bit of an S for the crest, and used the rings again for the kit. I wasn't in love with this one until adding the rings to the sleeves. Uranus FC - The icy planet gets vertical pinstripes and a PSG style center stripe with vertical 'sponsor' to emulate the vertical rings of Uranus. Up the club! Up Uranus. Neptune Blues FC - Blues is another classic nickname, this time the planet named for the god of the seas gets the water and trident treatment. Heart of Plutonian FC - This is the idea that started the whole project. The play on the name came after the photos of Pluto came back from New Horizons and we all saw the heart. I unabashedly enjoyed my own wit enough to try to start a whole series and here we are. Up the Jam Tarts. Halley's Wanderers - Because 9 felt like a terrible number I decided to go for one more. Another classic soccer nickname, and a look straight out of 1986, the last time Earth was visited by Halley's.
  2. Can you make the citronaut's helmet more orangey?
  3. It's a bit nit-picky, but I'd say rotate your helmet logos about 15 degrees back. They'd all be sloping 'downhill' on a player. Your designs are super clean. Good work.
  4. I've always felt that the white line between the helmet and dolphin is unnecessary.
  5. New crest for Snohomish County FC of the Cascadia Premier League via yours truly:
  6. AL Central Minnesota Twins: A fauxback with inspiration from their current cream unis as well as the somewhat common double monogram look of the early 1900s. Detroit Tigers: 1901 hat paired with an all blue uni a la 1905-06. A new blackletter wordmark replaces the block DETROIT of 1902. The socks and undershirt get a full tiger stripes treatment. Cleveland Guardians: The Guardians sport their curly C from the late '00s. A faux blue collar harkens to uniforms of the earlys '00s. I liked the curly C as is looks a bit like a G. Chicago White Sox: The Sox get an inverse of their 1911 uniform, add pinstripes, replace blue with black, and an update of the block SOX to a more on brand font. Sox grace the hat like back in 1926. Kansas City Royals: Wordmark from the 1915 Kansas City Packers of the Federal League on a double blue uniform. The hat features a heart and the Kansas City Monarchs monogram on a hat striped like the Monarchs.
  7. Would love to hear feedback on these before moving on to the remaining half of the league.
  8. NL East Washington Nationals: Reverse of the 1910 Washington Senators unis but with the 1903 logo, altered slightly to include a rough capitol dome. Miami Marlins: Full blown fauxback. Wide pinstripes a la their current City Edition, but a jumping marlin silhouette and an early deco font for the script and hat. Philadelphia Phillies: 1910s style updated with maroon instead of red. A new chest logo featuring a wide P and the shape of Pennsylvania. Hat has a PHILA. wordmark via the 1900 uni, just something we haven't really seen before but still feels vintage. Atlanta Braves: 1913 red pinstripes on blue uniform, but with a block A replacing the (Boston) block B. Sleeves feature a vintage version of the 1970s sleeve feathers. NY Mets: Bringing back the NY Giants 1916 plaid unis, but with some added blue trim. The wordmark is my own creation, a vintage feeling full name script with a Big Apple O. The apple is featured on the sleeve as well.
  9. NL Central: St. Louis Cardinals: 1920 script, altered with the period under the T like the original 1920 unis. Hats inspired by those introduced in 1909. Pittsburgh Pirates: Instead of going to the red/blue scheme of the early 20th C. Pirates, I've stuck with black and yellow. Vertical script a la 1912 uniforms. A pillbox hat as used in the 70s because the pillbox has a very old feel to it. Chicago Cubs: Essentially a reverse of what they had this year. Cincinnati Reds: A club that has done just about every throwback available has to have a mixing of eras or we'll be duplicating what's already been done. A mix of 1910 unis but with added black but with 1913's logo, again with added black. The biggest mix-up here are the red pants because why shouldn't the Redlegs get red pants? Milwaukee Brewers: An update of the 1901 Brewers, unaffiliated with the current Crew, but historic nonetheless. The hat colors are reversed and the bill M as well as jersey script are given a nice blackletter to evoke the German beer vibe later used by the Motre Bame Brewers of the 90s.
  10. I'd love to see all 30 clubs play a game in Iowa some day, and I'd love it if they all looked like they were out there in their turn of the (20th) century uniforms. That said, a few teams weren't around back then, and even more of them had some real boring unis back then. I've decided to fix that with a mix of reverse retro (NHL), retro remix (NBA), and just plain fauxback. Not everyone will be wearing white, grey, or cream. That's boring and teams wore color back in the day too. Let's start with the AL East. Tampa Bay Rays: A fauxback logo featuring a diamond in a ray, similar to the Baltimore Terrapins logo from the Federal League. The uni has 1916 NY Giants inspired plaid, a nod to the Rays brief dabble in plaid-billed hats and 'Braysers' back in 2010. Toronto Blue Jays: a slightly blue grey uni with a fauxback logo using the Toronto Leafs leaf logo as they started way back in 1896. Hat and stripes inspired by 1905 Leafs uniforms. NY Yankees: Pinstripes on grey. NY from Highlanders uniforms circa 1903. Boston Red Sox: Seemed obvious, give the uni a bunch of red socks. 1908 logo and simplicity are the name of the game. Baltimore Orioles: All black everything for the O's. Very much inspired by the 1901 Baltimore uniform.
  11. Agreed with @PERRIN about the spacing. I often find myself making things mathematically centered instead of visually centered and I think this is a case of that. Putting a 'W' between the ears might alleviate this, otherwise moving it up a smidge.
  12. New crest for Catania SSD, formerly Calcio Catania: I like it, but would have changed a few things. I'm not a fan of the typeface used in the new. There was a chance to use the trunk shape as the C that would have fit perfectly into the empty space often left by an A. The final A doesn't look good in the reverse italic. I like the symmetry of the trunk and back side of the elephant, but some hint of an ear would have been nice. Overall 7/10. Great rebrand that gets minimalism right.
  13. I used those jerseys because they matched my thrift jerseys that I was going to cut up. I'm a Hamm's man, so the Twins are definitely next.
  14. I got this idea after seeing some custom cards on reddit. I've got a few old thrifted jerseys sitting around that I figure I could try my hand at using as inserts. I've just gotta find a working printer at Goodwill now. The idea is simple: Milwaukee has some classic beer ads, let's make them into baseball cards. First 6 are MVP and Cy Young winners on a PBR ad. These are the ones I hope to print and make inserts of. These next few were ideas I had after, so far only one example of each:
  15. At least they got all the Ns correctly oriented this time around. https://madison.com/news/local/education/university/look-closely-letters-in-the-camp-randall-stadium-end-zones-are-upside-down/article_a8929fa1-8b8c-5e61-ad47-87b0ba4cf656.html
  16. I like the board shorts stripe so much...but I can't help but want to see it on one of the pant legs like its inspiration. Any chance we see that?
  17. Other than geography, is there a reason to not have 5 conferences of 26 teams each instead of what you have at the moment? Uniforms look great so far.
  18. I'm having one of those 'wish i had thought of that' moments. This is brilliant and beautifully executed.
  19. I very much appreciate the comments. I'm also not a fan of the cursive in the Leeds logo, but it seems to be much loved by Leeds fans and any other wordmark treatment requires the roundel. Again, appreciate the comments, especially from someone as talented as yourself. I considered adding more color to the kit but Leeds are known for their clean white kits so I opted not to. Maybe I'll try something else as well. What did you think of the other kit on Behance? I tried the Brewers Motre Bame colors but it gets pretty muddy and replacing the gold with yellow didn't really jive for me. I did put an original color version over on Behance. I also tried a shield shape but the feather is quickly lost to that and for some reason the tear-drop shape didn't sit well with me either. I honestly think the stand-alone feather/LUFC is probably the look I'll stick with. I agree with your Sutton and Argyle thoughts as well. Here's a look at a full Sutton crest, but I've added a nice parrot green. I generally hate gradients but thought this was fun.
  20. I've been trying to figure out how to make a new Leeds United FC crest for a long time. I kept trying to make the York rose into a soccer ball into a peacock or something like that. I've finally landed on a pea-feather look, and switched up the colors because I've never been a fan of Leeds' shades of blue and yellow together. The eye of the feather is made up of a new LU monogram similar to the crests of the 70s and the chevrons of the current crest are flipped but remain along with the central cursive LUFC. I'm considering removing the LUFC and instead adding the full club name in a roundel around the feather a la Inter Miami. Full Project here
