  2. The logos used for Super Bowls XVII-XXVI were too simple, lacked creativity and used the same red, white and blue color scheme. It wasn't until Super Bowl XXVII (1993 in Pasadena) when the NFL decided to return originality to Super Bowl logo creation, in what I (and many others) consider the renaissance of Super Bowl logos.
  3. The people in charge of the new Mission Bay arena for the Golden State Warriors are trying to get the arena to open in Fall 2018, a full four years away. There's literally no where else to place a new NHL arena in the Bay Area after this and Santa Clara because of the 49ers. Surely, if those people have an intent on the NHL and keeping the Sharks in the Bay Area, they'd draft plans soon to have the arena be a basketball-hockey combo before the 1st shovel drags dirt.
  4. How about those loyal, diehard Glendale Desert Outlet Mall fans! And for the record, that's it? Only $209 for the highest-priced Phoenix ticket? For $250, you could drop a non-refundable deposit to be on the waiting list for Maple Leafs season tickets.
  5. They're out-Glendaling Glendale!Nah. Glendale would tarp the middle and upper decks and stick-in some fan-made Fatheads to make it look like there are fans there. If they really want to be crafty, they'd have hydraulic levers move around those posters to make it look like actual humans want to see a Coyotes game.
  6. Technically, because of Phoenix retaining all the records and history of Winnipeg v.1, all fans in that game were chanting in unison for the same team. Technically.
  7. Lets say the decision to move the World cup happens in 2016. Do you think that the nut-jobs over there will really be 'seeking revenge' for a World Cup that was supposed to be there's 6 years ago? I don't think that'll be the case. However, security will be vastly improved compared to this years Super bowl regardless. It's a scary thought but by 2022, who knows what the world will be like? I can only imagine that security for these kind of events will be increased like crazy. Especially with the world cup, a game watched all over the world. The World Cup is already an event that is "ripe" (not sure this is the right word to use) for something like that to happen. But I don't think that what you stated would be a reason for increased security. It's a good thought, but I am not sure the mindset would still be there if it had been taken away so long ago. 2022 is eight years away. Did any one of us in 2006, eight years ago from this point, imagine the world we would live in today? Did any one of us on these boards in 2006 think about smartphones, apps, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, the collapse of the housing industry, an Afro-American president, the Tea Party and Occupy movements, Obamacare, the rise of China and India, the revival and subsequent death of the Lakers and Celtics, the Winter Classic, Stanley Cups in Chicago, Boston and Southern California, Roger Goodell's corporization of the Super Bowl logo and safety rules and many, many more stuff that has happened in this world since 2006? Maybe the world in 2022 will be better, maybe worse than right now. Maybe the technology riped-up Qatar's ass from their World Cup bid will come true. Maybe hoverboards will be a thing. Maybe flying cars will move from fantasy to prototype. Maybe the Cubs will make the World Series. Who knows? But I wouldn't call it a "scary" thing to look into the future in the next eight years.
  8. Don't you all get it? FIFA is going all "NBA/Seattle/Sacramento" on the 2022 WC. They had the potential to bank more money nominally with the United States because of all the developed stadiums already in tact here, with the advertisers in place, and with the generally-median climate in American cities during the summer (compared with the potential of 120-130°F summer days in Qatar). But of course, the whole bid and its aftermaths FIFA encountered-on with Qatar had more-to-do with wanting to exploit impoverished and menial-class citizens of the host country in the pursuit of greed.
  9. All of us having to watch this for the Stanley Cup is Bettman's orgasmic fantasy.
  10. Don't know whose free hockey ticket promotion is more pathetic, this one or the Panthers whole "trade your losing lottery ticket for a game ticket" promo. And after reading it again, of course the Tim Horton's promo is for a game against the freaking Panthers!
  11. I think Quebec City and Seattle have propelled themselves to the top of these relocation talks, ahead of Kansas City.
  12. I bet that some of those people will think Tim Horton's is the name of a clothing, retail store.
  13. Reminded me of: Here's hoping the name change will be the end of the dream of the Phoenix, Arizona Coyotes.
  14. Nothing welcomes Canadians more like a redneck-west American state whose people openly hate Mexicans. 'Murica.
  15. Are they trying to one-up the Marlins and be the most despised team in South Florida? Or is Jeffrey Loria a minority owner for the Miami National Hockey League Team of Broward County?
  16. In terms of an outdoor game in the Bay Area, wouldn't, theoretically, the new Levi's Stadium push the Sharks in front of the hosting priority list?
  17. If there was any shred of novelty on outdoor games in the NHL left, then this nukes it out towards dilution.
  18. I've seen worse. They used to have a thing where you get 2 free tickets when you buy a $20 bottle of Absolute or Stoli or something from Fry's (a local grocery store). maybe but that's $24.75 for a NHL ticket, a hot dog and Pepsi per person to see the current Stanley Cup champs play. I spent more than that to take my wife to see Phantom of the Opera for her birthday years ago. ... on a Saturday night, no less. Those should be the easy tickets to sell. If they have trouble selling a Saturday game against the defending Cup champions, how in blue hell do they promote a Tuesday game in March against the Florida Panthers? If this water fountain constitutes a "lake" in Arizona, what constitutes an "ocean?"
  19. I highly, freaking doubt that an NFL mega-stadium is smaller than the Coyotes pathetic excuse of an arena. I highly doubt that it's even smaller than Lot E. What was in that freaking tap water those surveyors in Arizona drank?
  20. Yes, but Arizonans are kind of America's clubhouse leader in blind following. Blind following is why they're in this whole mess in the first place!
  21. There is only one person who these Bulls black-pinstripe unis would be perfect for: Once he left, they would look very awkward at whoever wore them.
