  1. How many times can the Rams 'rebuild' without actually, you know, ever building anything? This is a team that has 15 wins in 5 years and that's being kind, 7 of those were in one year when they were in the worst division in the history of the NFL. At this point I can't blame the Rams fanbase for being apathetic, they are about the worst team in the league playing in one of the worst stadiums.
  2. I don't think that a lack of interest in this pre-season game necessarily means that KC wouldn't support their own team. But it is a golden opportunity to show that there's interest in the sport. I 100% agree with this. Great attendance at one of these games absolutely helps the market, but poor attendance shouldn't necessarily hurt it.
  3. Even as the third time, my basic point still stands; competitive games featuring a local team will by their very nature generate way more ticket sales than occasional preseason games between two out of town teams. That's why the OKC Hornets isn't really a valid comparison, they had a full season as the local team, it's apples and oranges.
  4. That is a perfectly valid point. I just don't think that markets should be excluded based on one game's ticket sales. Besides pretty much literally anything is better than Glendale at this point.
  5. And, as is the tradition, the fans of Kansas City will manage to make the fans of Phoenix look spectacular by comparison. I pity any team that would actually move there. Not turning up to a meaningless preseason game between two teams who have no historical basis in the city ≠ not turning up if there was a team based in the city, playing full on competetive hockey
  6. They've actually been throwing around ideas about redevelopment for a while. They even came out with renderings back around the time of Super Bowl XLIV The problem as dfwabel says though is where to get the money from, especially with so much having just been spent down there on the new Marlins park.
  7. I love all the idiots commenting on that article who claim that the Goldwater Institute is just a group out for nothing but it's own interests. Yes, because stopping a city throw hundreds of millions of dollars into a financial black hole of a hockey team which no-one wants whilst simaltaneously being forced to cut public services helps out NO-ONE other than a little group of small business owners...
  8. Really? Because all my sources point to Lethbridge.
  9. I am not a fan of this look, at all. NOT PARTICULARLY NINJA EDIT: I don't think stirrups in baseball are as awesome as many others do. Long pants are still stupid though. To me the ideal look is a plain long sock.
  10. Legitimate question: Why not let the big schools in football have power conferences FOR FOOTBALL, whilst maintaining regional & historic rivalries for olympic sports? Because it can't be advantageous for, well anyone, to have to send, say, the womens water polo team halfway across the country just to play a conference game.
  11. Nonsense. "San Francisco" has more characters, and everyone seems to like their road jersey. Well, at least before they added the pinstripes. IMO San Francisco still looks a bit squeezed, but it works better because it's arched, and is two words. Just one long, straight 'Philadelphia' across the front doesn't work.
  12. It's big, it's obnoxious & it could kinda use a bit more green instead of so much silver; it's like a perfect metaphor for Oregon football.
  13. Others have said basically the same thing much fuller & more eloquently than I could, but here's my basic pair of Lincolns on the matter: - A city being allowed to cut public services & bump itself to one of the highest tax rates in the nation in order to subsidise a sports team is stupid. - The fact that this supposed deal that has been agreed relies upon continued subsidies from the city is frankly ridiculous. - The fact that all this effort is being put in to save a team who have NEVER turned a profit, and until this year hadn't ever won a playoff series either is just mind blowing. - This is Gary Bettman's NHL and he will deep in the cold, dead ground before he recognises that his Arizona Hockey ExperimentTM has failed. - IF, & that is one enormous if, they manage to find someone rich/dumb enough to put together a deal which allows the Coyotes to stay in Glendale based on private money & no subsidies, good on them, this isn't a rant about Southern hockey
  14. Oh yes it is, check just under the STL on the side
  15. According to Hockey Reference, in Iginla's rookie year Paul Krause was also No. 12 for the Flames'. I would assume that's what's caused this.
  16. It might work, but it would need the parking lots to be extended further, and it'd still be a bit of a squeeze. With two solid, legitimate proposals already in place for a stadium in LA this just feels very unnecessary.
  17. Wouldn't that necessitate getting rid of Dodger Stadium? No-one is talking about/wants to do that.
  18. Oh the Coyotes definitely SHOULD leave, I'm just saying it would not surprise me if they pull a fast one with some other team who are sort of a little bit in trouble. At the end of the day Quebec City don't care which team they get they just want someone.
  19. Considering the way things have gone over the last few years it would absolutely not surprise me if this somehow drags itself out further and we see another team sacrificed on the Altar of Bettman's Ego. I mean this time last year everyone pretty much assumed that the Coyotes were on their way back to Winnipeg, and then suddenly it was the Thrashers' going up there instead.
  20. Looks like someone read my post in the "Jaguars going all-black" thread. While there may be some truth to it, a simple change in color isn't really a sure sign of anything. Also note that the North Stars, upon changing to their black uniforms, all but dropped the word "North" from the crest, which only served to fuel the relocation flame which was already burning quite brightly by then. A de-emphasizing of teal is one thing, but the Jaguars have worn all black before, so it's not without some form of precedent. I'd be far more concerned if (1) "Jacksonville" is missing from the front team nameplate above the numbers and/or (2) teal is all but gone from the new duds. Haha, yep, tbh I basically stole that one (sorry)
  21. Anyone else think that the Jags' supposed move to all black is in someway a de-emphasising of their 'Jacksonville-ness'. So the teal, rightly or wrongly, is associated with specifically Jacksonville while the black becomes more of a 'neutral' colour that they can associate with and wear in any city? Kind of like how the North Stars started wearing black instead of green a couple of years before they moved down to Texas.
  22. piratesfan, now you've posted that adjusted Broncos logo I can't help but notice another face in it, not the intended one or your one. The 'sweeping' shape near the top centre-right of the logo is the eye, the big gap (where you cut the head out of the original) is the mouth, and the face of the intended logo is coming out like a big tooth. I've now seen it and can't unsee it, still not really your interpretation of the face though
  23. Gotta think it's that, bandwagoners are bandwagoners, regardless of where they're based
  24. Not sure exactly how unpopular as such this is, but as a Panthers fan I'm going to really miss the current look when Nike go wild on us for next season. Obviously slightly biased opinion but I really think it's a damn fine look, bordering on modern classic status. Plus it'll be sad as I'm pretty sure it's the only remaining 90's expansion look in any of the 4 major sports, which I'm weirdly proud of the fact we maintained
