  1. Not disputing the wider point, but worth mentioning that they did play in eras were much fewer teams made the playoffs
  2. "The legendary 2016 playoff team" seems like quite some claim as well
  3. Considering how much the "rookie QB" stereotype seems to have been shed in recent years, I was mildly surprised to see that Mac Jones is the first to lead a team to the playoffs in five years, and that the last rookie to win a playoff game was Russell Wilson a decade ago
  4. Considering they're the first kits the team has ever had, doesn't that kind of go without saying? Although, I do agree that that is one hell of a nice look.
  5. Keeping a team in the desert where its been shedding money consistently for a quarter of a century just to maintain a neat divisional alignment would a peak OITGDNHL self-own
  6. WTF even is this league this year? Is there any single team which is actually really good?
  7. Interesting day in Europe, Juventus lost at home, Man City lost a League cup tie for the first time in 5 years, Bayern went down to their heaviest defeat since 1978(!), and Ronald Koeman has been sacked by Barcelona.
  8. There was a Jamaican sprinter 10-15 years ago with the marvellously unlikely name of Steve Slowly.
  9. This is depressingly true. Yelling red-assed football coach who was brought down by his outdated/downright offensive attitude to issues of race and gender is in pretty much the perfect spot on the venn diagram for a lot of the absolute worst people
  10. 2019 was the Panthers first season in the "new" templates
  11. Obviously not on the same level as the Purple One was, but I remember being pleasantly surprised by J-Lo and Shakira a couple of years ago
  12. Not just Wilson. I'm assuming Kyler Murray is the reason most of Oklahoma's getting Cards-Titans, and also that Justin Herbert is why southern Oregon gets the Chargers-WFT matchup.
  13. City of Glendale's only ending the lease so they can renovate (the former) Jobing.com Arena into a parking lot
  14. On paper I'd be inclined to agree with this, but it's worth noting that England are yet to concede in the tournament, and in the 17 games they've played over the last 9 months or so post-lockdown they've conceded a grand total of just 5 goals!
  15. I may be wrong, but isn't the case with MLS that their preferred option is an SSS, but they'll allow otherwise as long as there's ownership crossover between the team and the stadium, because it's about not having their teams be tenants of somebody else. Hence how Arthur Blank's Atlanta FC are allowed to share Megatron's butthole with the Falcons, NYCFC sharing with the Yankees, and I assume the Sounders must therefore share owners with the Seahawks.
  16. England's 1986 FIFA World Cup squad had two players named Gary Stevens
  17. Pretty much all I know USA for is having been the home of Raw for years and years.
  18. The FA cup up to it's old tricks again, Leeds beaten 3-0 at 4th tier Crawley
  19. Chara was a Bruin for 14 seasons, during which he captained them to a Stanley Cup win and two other finals appearances. Before that he was an Islander for three and a half (so long ago he debuted in the gd fishsticks template(!)) and a Senator for four plus the lockout year - YMMV on whether or not those two fit in this thread. Him playing a year or two at the end of his career as a low line minute-filler for the Capitals definitely fits this thread.
  20. Head to head has been the Champions League's first tiebreaker of choice for a while now, and (this bit may well be new) the current second tiebreaker is goal differential solely in head to head games, not more generally - so United are done regardless of the PSG outcome. As to why they're restarting it, if PSG win then they overtake Leipzig and win the group, which then impacts knockout round seedings.
