  1. ^From the rules. Would it count if there were a thread for people to swap old jerseys? I get you guys don’t want this forum to turn into a classified ads section, but if the scope were really narrow (jerseys only), you weren’t allowed to link to an external site (post pics only), and it was only for old jerseys you were selling (i.e. not an actual store or business), I think that would be fair. There’d probably be a lot of appetite for it too. Is this something I can go ahead with?
  2. Really don't get the Halladay decision. He had two great years, one bad one, and one terrible one with Philadelphia, and he didn't even win a World Series. Even four great years would be borderline.
  3. ^Always hated how the Phillies did their retired numbers. Painted on brick and what, 3 feet high? That's bush league. Philly's better than that. I think I see the pattern--chronological, alternating between left and right (like how in US political debates they have the lowest-polling candidate on the far left of the stage, 2nd lowest on the far right, 3rd lowest second from left, etc.). Still dumb.
  4. That was my thinking too. My name’s dumb but eh, it’s been almost a decade. Fun fact: I resurrected the NJTank moniker, which lasted about 8 minutes since apparently that’s not allowed. It’s a shame, I was really hoping to have a Cleveland Browns situation where I could pad my post count and join date.
  5. lmao k I'll just go with that
  6. whatthefont.com tells me this is WTC Banger; anyone know of any free fonts that more or less resemble it?
  7. I remember around the time of the last board update, a bunch of posts were deleted and a lot of people's post counts went down substantially. Was this reversed? I haven't visited here in a while but I swear I had far fewer...
  8. True, but could you not say the same thing about, say, insisting on discussing politics or Native American imagery? There are many bannable offences that involve showing that same sort of disregard.
  9. So Tank would thus not be eligible for CCSLC parole? EDIT: I just checked to see when Tank would be eligible -- only to realize he's been banned for two-and-a-half years. Time really does fly on these boards.
  10. Nice. I know they got the number font wrong initially, but was there anything else?
  11. The Blue Jays retired Roy Halladay's number yesterday and added a banner for him: Nice, but not a fan of how it's in the team's current branding, especially since Alomar's (the one beside it) is era-specific. I get that they probably didn't want to bring the Black Jays look (which Halladay wore for the majority of his tenure with the team), but they could have at least gone with the late '90s/early 2000s style which he still wore for a few seasons and is pretty similar to the team's current look. I'd have even preferred if they used the '70s/'80s/'90s look (the one used for Almoar's banner) because at the very least he was drafted with that look and wore it for a preseason or two. Also, the team added two new banners last year (which I just found out about while watching last night's game and researching this post because I didn't watch or attend a single game last year). On opening day 2016, they unveiled a "2015 AL East Champs" banner and re-arranged their pre-existing ones so that they were sorted by accomplishment, not year (which I thought was dumb). Then, last year, they swapped that for the one pictured above (AL East + ALDS Champs) and added a Wild Card/ALDS "Champs" banner -- two additional dumb moves. Thankfully, however, they removed the 1991 All-Star Game banner and put them all back in chronological order. They also added Halladay's name to the team's "Level of Excellence" (they have two tiers for honouring players; retiring is the "upper" one and this is the "lower" one). I haven't cared about the team for a few years now, but it still irks me how an organization that was always so good about honouring its history properly has resorted to anachronistic designs and consolation prize banners.
  12. Perhaps because failure isn't an emotion?
  13. The Leafs unveiled a whole set of new banners for their home opener today. Finally, Cup banners with era-specific trophies: And, of course, new honoured retired (!) number banners: Beautiful. To me, this is almost as exciting as a new uniform unveiling.
  14. The Leafs' new centennial exhibit at the HHoF may shed some light on the new banner designs. If those are indeed the new designs, they'll be far inferior to the current ones. At the very least, including the players' years of service and adding era-specific logos are nice touches.
  15. According to Shanahan, the Leafs will be getting new honoured number banners for their centennial, which I think is kinda lame.
  16. Good thing they put "National Hockey League Playoffs" — otherwise I might've confused those dates with all their Super Bowl appearances!
  17. When was the last time the boards were upgraded? 2012? 2013?
  18. IIRC, Beeston said at the retirement ceremony that they left the name off so new Jays fans would inquire about the banner to learn more about him. And, in any event, his name on the Level of Excellence has the number 12 on it, so fans in the stands can make the link. And as for the ASG banner, I'm cool with having something to commemorate the event, but yeah, a full-sized banner right beside all your real accomplishments is a bit cheesy.
  19. He also looks weird not wearing his old school helmet He looks weird.
  20. here you go Probably the most relevant banner they hang.
  21. Here's a better pic: This confirms that they kept the banners era-specific. My guess for the odd ordering is that they wanted to make the new one the centrepiece.
