  1. It would be nice for a sunglasses giveaway game...It would look much better with white or old gold as the primary color.
  2. This is our idea of local fun: walleye madness If you can't make Times Square or Vegas on New Years, come out and watch us drop the Walleye! WHAT A GREAT TEAM NAME!
  3. Not only that, but when I'm just flipping through the games on Center Ice, I always figure that I'm watching Nashville. The silvery stuff has got to go.
  4. You know, as much as this may sound like heresy to some people, I hope the Chinese begin mass-producing NHL fakes like they have NFLs. The fabric change itself is a bitter pill to swallow, but the idea of the league deliberately charging more for less is sickening. Look at the sheer number of good ebay fakes of NFL jerseys. By mass-producing good-to-great quality lookalikes, the Chinese have effectively devalued the true NFL overpriced authentics and made the replicas look like the crap that they are. I think Mr. Bettman's league is the next to be taken down a peg. What would Zeigler do?

  6. Can any of you graphic designers possibly photoshop a Pirates' cap with an oversized rendition of a nickel on the side? If so, I'm guaranteeing you my desktop background through spring training! Bonus points if you can put "Save Us Cuban" across the brim! Too bad New Era doesn't want to comment on the Financial status of teams' ownership... White and Nerdy 06!
  7. YESS!!! The bottom line is I love the look of both the jackets and caps. First of all, I still have a lot of those caps (including about six of the baseball-font LA Rams I bought during their closeout sales .) Secondly, this is a timeless design. Unlike those ridiculous shark-tooth, trucker mesh or paint-swipe caps that can only be worn during halloween or around a burning soup kettle in an abandoned trainyard, this is classic styling. Team name in front, solid color, nothing gaudy and/or ghetto! Put Reagan back in the White house, Huey Lewis on MTV, take the Daimler out of Chrysler and burn all of the freaking hip-hop cd's! All is right with the world again! I love this design!
  8. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with an affinity for the Deamsicles! Another squad that has to revert is the Washigton Capitals. Red White and Blue suit this team much better than this weird old gold/black/blue logo they've been using. The logo could definitely use updating as well.
  9. I own three CBC caps, all of them are their internet specials. One is a Phillies 1976 pillbox. Logo is not "raised" as the current 5950s are, but it's a nice representation and generally is a comfortable cap to wear. The shape is about B-Plus quality. I also have a 61 LA Angels cap. I love it and wear it all the time. Shape is perfect wool is first quality, logo is straight on and accurate. Finally I have a 1912 mud hens unstructured cap. I'M IN FREAKING LOVE!!! They make these unstructured styles better than any other A-PLUS!!! In short, I've never been dissatisfied, and really like their caps!
  10. I guess you could say it's "Uncommonly Good!"
  11. I really like cooperstown ballcap co. The leather bands make all the difference in the world!
  12. By the way, Finch, MLBshop.com has the American Needle 1938 version for 24.99.
  13. I'm rather impressed with it. It's a 1961 Angels (with the halo). The fit is nice, the leather band is comfortable and the service is very accomodating. I'd previously purchased a 1976 Phillies pillbox from them, and am happy with that one as well, although both were on internet special. I think the main difference is that the logos are directly embroidered onto the material, but are not "raised" like today's 5950's (or some American Needles) are. It's a good rendidition of the logo, but looks kind of flat by today's standards. However, as today's standards weren't in use in 1961, I guess that's logical. Good luck!
  14. Question for fellow ballcap afficionados... Lately I have been adding to my cooperstown cap collection, including a couple of old Roman throwback caps from ebay and a new cap from ballcaps.com. Some of the old Roman caps and most of the ones shown on Ballcaps.com have leather bands instead of the cotton bands worn today. Ballcaps.com asserts that this is how vintage caps were actually made. Does anyone here know when, if ever, this was true? Just my two cents...It seems like a natural, if expensive idea. Nothing worse then the clamminess of putting on a sweat drenched cap on a hot day. If these leather bands were actually worn in MLB, can anyone explain why/when this practice was stopped? Thanks!
  15. Kind of a spin off on the same theme... Does anyone here know whether the Reds wore an all white cap with the red C and red bill in the late 1990's or early 2000's as an alternate or something. (Not the mid 90's pinstripes.) I have a few of these caps I picked up at a closeout store for $2.99 several years back. At the time, the same store was liquidating a bunch of 5950's including the old Tigers' alt with the D and the cat on the front, the teal marlins and the old interlocking "CA" Angels, as well as the green and yellow A's cap. I bought most of the caps in my size and have a couple of the reds caps in question. They are kind of a cream-coloured white, with a red bill and a red c. The MLB logo is on the rear and all the tagging is exactly the same as all other 5950's of the era. Is this something the Reds actually wore? Thanks!
