Yeah, they'll be fine. Islanders fans could've sold out their local building for years to create demand... & did not. Besides, it's not like they're moving to Las Vegas or Seattle. Well, it could've helped if the Islanders had more than 3 or so good seasons since 1995 to create some demand among the non-diehards, but alas.. I mean, I'm fine with the move to Brooklyn because hey, it's not Kansas City or Vegas! But you can already see a disconnect between older fans like my father and the team with the move to Brooklyn and that they're already saying they're not going to games. On the brighter side, though, the Islanders fanbase has grown with the younger adult crowd in the past 3 seasons. And given us young adult Long Islanders already are taking the LIRR for a night on the town to Manhattan/Rockville Centre/The Hamptons for a Sunday Funday at Bordy Barn anyway, I don't think the move to Brooklyn will be a problem for us younger folks. So there's still that bright side, but even still a large chunk of the fanbase isn't going to make the trip to Barclays. All that said, I still think we're looking at a move back to Nassau after they get this renovation done like 5 years from now and Ratner, et al. decide the move to Barclays didn't work as well as they thought so they'll bring them back to their other property in the new Coliseum. They have like a 20 or 25 year lease at Barclays. There's an out-clause after 5 years.

I really don't get all of the uproar about the Isles leaving Nassau. Sightlines issues aside, I think that moving to the city is the best possible thing for the franchise. Personally, I think it's something they should've always considered, rather than a last resort. New York is a busy place with no shortage of entertainment options in the city, and nobody is going to give a :censored: about you if you're all the way out on "Lawn Guyland". If they keep playing like they did this year, maybe the Isles will find their way out of irrelevance with the move to Brooklyn.

I'm not selling us short by a long shot. I tried to edit my post to add that if anyone could bring the NHL here, specifically relieving them of the Coyotes Quagmire, it would be Lazry and Edens. They are used to taking losses and turning profits. With the arena situation and Wiscos love of hockey it would be win win. If they owned both clubs and had 100% controlling interest in the arena, maybe taxpayers wouldn't have to foot too much of a bill, save for a luxury/travel tax. It can be done, YES! the logistics would all have to align. The problem would then be........Where do the Admirals go? Green Bay would be the easiest, most obvious solution. Have them affiliate with the Milwaukee team to create another Milwaukee-Fox Valley connection like the Brewers and Timber Rattlers. The Resch Center also seats 8700 for hockey. The Gamblers in the USHL currently use it, but it would be perfect for an AHL team.

I agree. In fact, I'd rather see Vegas in the NHL than Phoenix. It can't possibly be worse. I think the last nail in the coffin for the Yotes will be when ASU's hockey program comes in next year, since they'll be downtown, and the hockey fans in the area will probably gravitate there rather than to Glendale.

Hey! Though sadly, you're not wrong. There just aren't nearly enough fans here in Mississauga, and honestly, I'm sick of seeing the building empty. I know that our owner is committed to keeping the team here, which I applaud him for, but at some point he's going to be sick of losing money and ultimately throw in the towel.

3 leagues are unnecessary. Just put the Eastern Conference affiliates in the AHL, and West in the IHL. Simple as that.

Yep. They keep the Flames logo on the ice at the Saddledome for Hitmen games, and the Oilers logo for Oil Kings games. I fail to see why it would be any different in San Jose.

Saskatoon would be perfect for a Jets farm team. Nice and close, and they have a huge arena. I'm not sure about Thunder Bay, considering the lack of an arena that's a 60 year old dump. Also they've got the Junior A North Stars, and Lakehead University's team is pretty popular there.

Don't forget the Devils also destroyed Trenton in the ECHL. Honestly, I'd be in favor of banning the Flames and Devils from having affiliates. Clearly neither team knows how to keep one successful.

Exactly!! 6 teams, play each team once, top four move on to a semi final, then finals (which apparently is going to be a best-of-3). Done. If the NHL really wants, they could develop a "B" tournament where the bottom team in the "A" tournament gets swapped out the next time it's contested with the winner of the "B" tournament. I mean, if they actually are trying to grow the sport world-wide like they claim they are. The World Championships already do that.

Having just 5 teams playing amongst each other is stupid. If it were up to me, I'd bring back the IHL and have all of the Western Conference teams put their affiliates there. Also, I'd be in favor of Peoria dropping to juniors. The USHL needs more teams in "hockey states". 4 teams in Iowa, 3 in Nebraska, South Dakota? It's a joke.
