  1. This is a stellar series, as usual. Glad I spent hours reading through all of it!
  2. This rarity crossed my mind. Just four series in two years pit the purple-and-teal Arizona Diamondbacks against the Washington Nationals, including Opening Day 2005 at RFK!
  3. That's not a bad cleanup! As I posted on Twitter, there are subtle differences between the trademark filing and jersey. The most notable is that the jersey has a more detailed hand with three "finger" knuckles visible.
  4. Could we get a font made of those unused (or, if they're a hoax, "unused") Saints uniform numbers (the 1A variety)? They're actually pretty nice and I'd love to have them for concepts and such.
  5. Whoa! That is a cool design. Is that...powder blue? *falls in love*
  6. Discrim, I began making footy concepts for Arizona high schools. Thanks a bunch; this is infectious! I keep on hand tracing your template ? and have done so a couple dozen times already. P.S. Your Colorado concept reminds me of something I whipped up the other night that I'll be posting soon.
  7. They turned in their signatures today...all 1,568 of them. http://www.azcentral.com/community/glendale/articles/2012/07/12/20120712phoenix-coyotes-deal-organizers-referendum-say-signatures-submitted-abrk.html
  8. Congratulations on 100 pages! And what's with the name change?
  9. Logic: turn in the most signatures you might need for the earliest deadline. However, logic ≠ Ken Jones, Joe Cobb, or the Goldwater Institute.
  10. What do you expect? BTW I get the impression that it wasn't Jobing.com Arena that really did Glendale in ? it was Camelback Ranch. They hoped to pay for that project with development, but that fell through. Worse yet, it's Glendale's park on Phoenix property ? the two cities split sales tax revenue from the place.
  11. This is like a saga straight out of a really bad sports movie. I live in the Valley, love the Coyotes and ? shock! ? find this whole thing a shipwreck. I'd love it if the Coyotes stayed here, yes. But I'm starting to see that the opportunity cost to keeping the Coyotes is exorbitant.
  12. I love how there's a Chix and a Dux in the same town. Arizona has some oddball mascots too. Thanks to the MaxPreps "Mascot Monday" series I know exactly which ones are unique nationwide ? Gila Monsters, Criminals (that's a fun one), Caballeros, Dorados (using sorta-Aztec-like imagery), Sand Devils, Monsoon (and likely Monsoons, both of which are in use), and a couple others. *Some historical facts are missing: Arizona once had a Redcoats (one of two in the country), a Beavers, a Red Devils and a Green Devils, and a Muckers (!). In addition some CAA schools are missing, including another unique name in Monsoons (Heroes is there though?).
  13. "...without being barred from doing so by Collingwood." Nice pun and nice concept!
  14. Thank the Russell Pearce recall for that rule change.
  15. The wildfires are in northern Arizona (forest) or, less often, in eastern and far southern Arizona (more vegetated). There isn't enough vegetation to sustain a wildfire in the desert around most of Phoenix.
  16. Schools are not funded at the city level. Plus Maricopa County has 57 school districts, and Glendale covers multiple. School districts do not line up with cities in AZ. For instance the Glendale Union High School District has pieces in Phoenix, and the Peoria Unified School District has high schools in Glendale. There are also school districts with no city equivalent, especially elementary school districts.
  17. Welp, I was wrong. I really didn't think I'd ever read something on the boards that included the Coyotes and mentioned ELIMINATING parking lots... Now Glendale will have to hire more lawyers because this might lead to a breach of contract lawsuit filed by the Cardinals.
  18. The typeface is certainly different, so they have been replaced. (Why, Times New Roman!?)
  19. That's why Eric Lindros spurned the Nordiques. Come on, Glendale...please, please just pay the money. I want them out here still. It's a decent team we have here, and it'd just be another blow to our civic pride.
  20. Moving them from Downtown to the West Valley was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen a sports franchise make. Killed their attendance numbers, and in turn, their following (at least from what I can tell). Nice to have the arena 15 minutes away from me, but for someone coming from the likes of Chandler/Gilbert, it takes an hour and a half to two hours to get to the damned arena in rush hour traffic (conveniently when all the games start). I'll be sad if they leave, but only for the same reason most hockey fans out here would be: i don't get to see my favorite team play the Coyotes live 2-3 times a year. Any sane owner would desperately try to bring the team back downtown. But the cost and the fact that Glendale is such a vested party makes that impossible. I'm in the same boat, and I'm in a decently close to Central Phoenix part of town. It won't be until there's a South Mountain Freeway that things are fixed. And that, much like the Coyotes, is a debacle.
  21. In re Diamondbacks: I believe they did that after the 2007 season. Note the typeface choice which is definitely post-color change.
  22. Which team will be gone faster: the Islanders or the Coyotes? I do not want to see the Yotes go, but it is so sad that nobody cares out here.
  23. The other day in Phoenix, I saw a really bad Devin Hester kids' jersey. You know it's bad when... -Block font is used, not Bears font! -The shoulders have the Bears logo on them, no TV numbers, and I don't think it was a GSH patch. -The dark blue is rendered as black. It was really, really horrid to look at.
