  1. The intro thread is posted. Round 1 starts on Thursday.
  2. Frequently Asked Questions Will I be assigned a team to design for? Yes. After signing up in the designated Group submission thread (i.e. Group AB) you will be randomly assigned a country to design for. The sooner you sign up the sooner you get your team. Can I submit for more than one team? Kinda! You may sign up to design one (1) entry for each pair of groups for a total of four (4) concepts during the tournament. Do uniforms need to be on a flat template? No! You may use any template to show uniforms. Are hand-drawn concepts welcome? Yes! Are additional elements related to the details of uniforms and scarves allowed? Yes! You may include a number of items to convey additional details to voters. This may include: jersey details in callouts, examples of full number sets, mockups of jerseys on real players. However, the entry must be a single image (any size) Are existing number/name fonts allowed? Yes! You may use existing fonts as long as the badge, kit, and scarf designs are your own. Can I change my concept after it has been submitted? No! All submissions are final.
  3. We’re back! Welcome everyone to the Creamer Concept World Cup 2022! Are you ready to watch early morning soccer? Do you have a hankering for making some international soccer concepts? Do you secretly believe that Jon Hamm is a much better Santa Claus than Tim Allen? Then this is the concept contest for you! This is a reboot of contests from 2014 and 2018. See these threads for inspiration: 2014: 2018: Individuals wishing to sign up for this years' edition will be randomly assigned a team from the World Cup. Once you are assigned a team, you will be responsible for creating: A new team crest A primary kit consisting of shirt, shorts, and socks A clash kit consisting of shirt, shorts, and socks A scarf related to the team (can be one-sided or two-sided) HERE’S THE TWIST FOR 2022! Instead of limiting ourselves to 32 contestants with one team each, the group play portion of the contest will be split into four (4) periods, similar to Logolympiad. Each period consists of teams from two (2) World Cup Groups (i.e. Groups A & B ) Contestants who sign up will be randomly assigned one of the eight (8) teams from the combined group We may get more than one concept submitted for each team if there are enough people who sign up After receiving submissions for the combined group, everyone can vote The top four (4) concepts from the combined group advance to the knockout round This means that by the end of the group stage of the contest, contestants will have the opportunity to design concepts for up to four (4) different teams, all at random! During the knockout tournament, the 16 top concepts will match up in a single-elimination tournament to determine the champion, runner-up, and third-place finishers. In the first round of the tournament, the #1 concept from one group will matchup against the #4 concept from another group. #2 and #3 concepts from the remaining groups will also match up against each other. To keep things fair/interesting, a single CCSLC member may have no more than two entries reach the semi-final round of voting In the event a contestant has more than two entries expected to reach the semi-final round, the top two entries in terms of voting points will advance Let’s talk about schedules. For the group stage, each combined group will have a 13-day sign-up/submission period, followed by 4 days of voting. To keep everything in line with the actual World Cup, there will be some overlap between the groups, so you could have two assignments at once. For the knockout tournament, each round will consist of a two-day voting period. The image below summarizes things pretty well. Finally, here is a link to the full list of rules that I have so far. There are also some examples of the Group Stage and Knockout Tournament process that may be useful. Please use this thread to ask any questions about the process. I’ll try to add an FAQ section as things come up. RULES I will be posting separate threads for each group. These threads will detail the sign-up process, reiterate the submittal requirements and schedule, elaborate on how to submit your concept once your team has been assigned, and follow the voting process once concepts are submitted. Best of luck!
  4. Stay tuned - I am working out details as we speak!
  5. As promised here's a couple more concepts for overlays. First, a home run graphic that would replace the score bug and also have a drop down for Statcast. I imagine this one would benefit from some animation, but that's not my wheelhouse. For inning transitions, I think larger overlays for the home team batters due up would be beneficial to keep a viewer engaged through a commercial break. My idea for the left-third overlay is to provide a lot of space for flexibility. The team-colored player highlight could be closed to leave most of the space white. Similarly, the full-screen overlay could have a lot of flexibility for game notes or a game summary.
  6. I have a good start on hockey, but VGK didn't have very many good screenshots for me to use as a reference. I'll see what I can do though! I did try a version that would be a "dark mode" but I didn't like it quite as much.
  7. The 2022 MLB All-Star break has come and gone, making the AT&T SportsNet graphics package the oldest in the MLB (introduced to start the second half in 2017). I am of the opinion that the overlays used in this package were dated as soon as they hit the screen. They use glossy bevel effects and dark colors that have poor contrast and obscure logos, which are the only identifiers of which teams are playing. I spent some time putting together a concept of what I think ATTSN should be using in their next update. Here are some of the primary rules I tried to follow while making the score bug: Primary score bug is in the top left of the screen - this location has become the most common in the latest round of updates for other networks, so this follows viewers expectations Teams and scores are in colors, other network and game info is on a white base - provides contrast between primary and secondary information for a game Player information is also in team colors, but at a higher transparency No bevels or rounded corners - detail gets lost even on a 55" TV, plus streaming on phones is more common now than ever Secondary overlays should simplify information that is provided - even if lots of stats are put on the screen, the overlay should be simple enough that it can be read/scanned in ~5 seconds That said, here's my concept for the primary score bug: One thing I would like to see from more networks is instantaneous information on ball-in-play stats. So much is available like exit velocity/launch angle, expected batting average, projected distance, etc. that I think would be good for viewers. Here's an example of a lower-third overlay with advanced stats. Yahoo! had a cool article asking players what stats they would put on tv for fans to view: https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-all-star-game-2022-numbers-made-them-all-stars-what-stats-do-baseballs-best-prefer-to-look-at-192454565.html, which led me to showing stuff like BACON and wRC+ over Batting Average and RBIs. I have a couple other ideas for more generic overlay designs that I will post soon, but let me know if you have any feedback! ATTSN also covers lots of other sports in different markets, so I may try to mock up some other score bugs.
  8. Looks like the Rockies will unveil their City Connect on Friday.
  9. Rockies have not worn their black vests this year, and an email from the MLB.com beat reporter says they've dropped that jersey to make way for the City Connect.
  10. I'd be open to running it again. I have a couple ideas to make it more engaging than previous editions, but I'll gladly take any input! I imagine it will probably start closer to November, so be on the lookout.
  11. It's only about 15 miles to the Dunes. Here's some more context about the Dunehawk name.
  12. Valparaiso University sent out an email with a survey of eight possible mascots this week. I can't imagine they will have a decision by the beginning of the athletic season, but who knows.
  13. Got a request recently for a version with no folders for those of you using Photoshop Elements. Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/view/7q705k3gqw3kg2c/Baseball+Uniform+Template_nofolders.psd/file You'll have to play around for awhile to figure out what all the layers are. I didn't have time to give them all unique names.
  14. The DENVER script on the front is just a vector right now. Create your own script on a different layer and you can delete the Denver layer.
  15. Increasing the size of the image should work.
  16. I am not planning on making any updates anytime soon. If you want to try on your own I would start with the raglan template and then create a diamond pattern that curves as a smart object to follow the sleeve.
  17. I've updated the file to fix the back jersey mask, and have also added Tigers-style belt loops as shown below. Here is the link for the updated file (OP is also updated): Media Fire Link
  18. Awesome concept! I knew that the jersey mask was messed up, but forgot to move it. So I will make that fix. I actually had never noticed the Tigers belt loops before you mentioned it, but I'd love to get that included. It may take me a bit, but I will get an updated version out soon(ish).
  19. Here are some sample uniforms from @dsaline97 and I:
  20. Hello all, I've been working the past few weeks on a new template for baseball uniforms in Photoshop. It was a painstaking effort to get everything on there but hopefully I've covered everything. I'd really like to thank @raysox for the inspiration from his Soccer and NuSoccer templates - I love the flat looks with thick outlines. I also want to thank @dsaline97 for critiquing the final product with Snapchat sketches. Here's some of the highlights: Traditional and "Taco Bell" style hats Traditional, Paneled, and "Taco Bell" helmets Gloss and Matte finishes Smart Object layers for helmet and hat logos Four Jersey Styles: Pullover (with round, v-neck, and one-button collar styles) Button down w/ undershirt Button down w/o undershirt Button down vest Each jersey style has raglan and traditional sleeves and pinstripes Three jersey piping options for placket, sleeves, and neck: One color (most teams) Two color (Nationals) Two color (Braves) Two pants styles Elastic waist (70s - 80s) Belted waist (traditional) Each pants style has pinstripe and pocket flap options Three pants piping options for outseam and belt loops Separate stirrup and sanitary sock layers Everything should be layered and grouped logically. Here's the deal - I only have Photoshop, so please don't ask me "When will this be available for Paint, Illustrator, Inkscape, etc.?" because I won't doing that. However, if you think there is a critical piece missing from the template, please let me know and I'll see if it's worth adding. Please have fun with this and feel free to show of your concepts! TL;DR - Here's the link: Media Fire Link Bonus: If you can tell me individual and team referenced in the picture above, I'll give you a high five.
  21. I'm so excited for everything that this post says about this league. You're doing such a great job on this series.
  22. 6 fields for 8 games? I feel bad for the turf crew.
  23. NFL: Broncos MLB: Rockies. I root for the Cubs and Angels, but don't really follow them closely. I also like watching the Orioles and Nationals play. NBA: Could care less, but I'll say the Nuggets in theory NHL: Avalanche but I haven't watched hockey in years NCAAF: Colorado teams, Boise State (thanks to @dsaline97), anyone who's playing Notre Dame NCAAB: Valparaiso, anyone who's playing Butler, Colorado teams, mid-majors MLS: Rapids in theory, but I've enjoyed watching Portland and Seattle a lot more recently BPL: Chelsea, only because Neymar and Messi didn't show up when Barca played Chelsea at FedEx Field last summer. Side note: Next year I'm going to Berkeley for grad school, so I could see myself hopping on the Golden State bandwagon hardcore.
  24. One thing with the Lille crest is that you could stand to make the text just a bit smaller. Right now, the 'L's get to close to the outer circle which leaves some awkward secant-like white spaces. Love the kits though!
  25. RT @HoldMyBeerGif: Hold my juicebox wile I eat my cookie. http://t.co/UvtIPnJixC
