I'm honestly shocked people hate Cincy's white tiger look this much. It is probably one of the more sensical alternate uniforms in the NFL. It maintains distinctive elements of the primary design (Bengal stripes) while showcasing something different that also fits the mascot and that the fans like. I don't really love the alternate field design, but the actual uniform as something they break out a couple times a year is fun. Different enough to be a novelty, but still fitting with the brand. Of all the colors do to monochrome, all-white also has the most history in football. It still fits the aesthetic of the sport. Are they doing some kind of a white-out promotion to get the crowd all in one color? That would be fun.

We know new silver pants were added to the style guide for this season, and they've been spotted on players in training camp. The pants definitely exist, but we have no indication on when or if they plan on wearing them. Now, why they'd add a new pair of pants in year 3 of a set just to not wear them, I have no idea.

They're wearing them next Thursday, so I'm assuming the NFL still has the rules in place about practicing in them for a week before to break them in.

We have seen teams wear an alternate in the Super Bowl only twice. Once was in 1994 when the 49ers wore their 75th anniversary throwbacks in the Super Bowl, a uniform they wore in all but two home games that season and one that was worn throughout the playoffs. The other was the Rams last year, with their alternate being their only white jersey and one that was promoted to primary status the following season. Both uniforms used the regular helmet. There is a clear method to the madness for the NFL with this stuff. I don't see them allowing a team to wear one of these new alternate uniforms in the Super Bowl. If the Seahawks' grey jerseys were their primary ones on the road or the Falcons' red gradient their primary jerseys at home, I could see the NFL bending the rules to allow the Seahawks to wear white or the Falcons to wear black. There is nothing in the league's history to me that suggests they'd allow the Eagles to go all black.

I actually prefer the modern version, but maybe that's just my youth speaking.

I don't think it necessarily has to match anything specific, just having any stripe would be better than blank white. The Patriots used to use the Adidas triple-stripe on their socks despite it appearing nowhere else in their uniform, and I thought it worked pretty well. It doesn't look out of place at least. I think the Chargers could do something similar, or just base stripes off the approximate weight of the current striping/numerals. Both of those are probably a lateral move from the same uniform with blue socks.

People connected to the Pats haven't confirmed they're actually wearing them this season, and I would imagine they'll want to break them out at home when and if they do. That would at least explain why they aren't wearing them today. Pouring rain in Chicago today. On that grass field, we should have a great looking game between the 49ers and Bears.

Why not both? This design with the wings and the O was always my favorite.

So according to GUD, we only have two games for week 1 where we know nothing about what either team is wearing: New England at Miami and Los Vegas at LAC. I think white at home for Miami and powder blue for LA is a safe assumption, but I'm surprised neither the Dolphins nor the Chargers have announced uniforms. They've done that in the past.
