  1. Thanks man! and thanks for taking the time to make the templates. I love them all, especially the caps, at first glance the finished products almost look real! I'll be sure to check out more of your work, as I have only seen your DeviantArt page so far...which I stumbled on by chance when I signed up there. I still haven't gotten a chance to add anything to my profile yet...Been really neglecting it. haha
  2. Well I have kinda hit a wall with my Militia logo and uniforms, I haven't taken a liking to anything I have come up with and getting a bit aggravated lol. But instead of quitting for the night, I figured I would try and get some of the creative juices flowing again by starting back at square one and come up with a totally different team layout. So far I have finished a rough layout of the new team's logo, I'm going to work on uniforms a little later on. and No, I didn't draw the graphics in this logo, I grabbed a couple of black and white clip art images off of google to try and come up with the rough layout of the primary logo, which you will notice influences from the Cardinals and fonts similar to the Orioles and Red Sox. The team's location was picked totally at random, I overheard someone on TV talking about Battle Creek and I thought it sounded pretty good. lol Let me know what you think so far.
  3. I used a template I found on a DeviantArt member's page, Jaxon, He has some really great templates to use, like a helmet, jersey, flat billed cap and a cap with more of a side profile. Here is the link to the template I used for the cap, http://jayjaxon.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=144#/d24x3wx Very good point! Touche haha Well, As I look into new fonts, I will work on some ideas for a different cap insignia and see if any work.
  4. Thanks for the feedback, guys.. I see your points about the font when it comes to the uniforms, I have been messing with new fonts on photoshop to try and find a bolder alternate. So far I I have only found fonts that are too generic of ones that just won't work on a sports jersey. I'm going to check some font sites a little later tonight. But when it comes to the cap emblem, I really like the current design of the letters and going to try and keep the MA. I didn't want to go with a simple "M" nor did I want to use the crest design or spell out "MASS". I decided on "MA" because its the two letter abbreviation of the state and the two letter connect really well when it comes to making them into a logo...much like the Yankees "NY", which is where I got the inspiration. Thanks for the tip! I will work on the drop shadows once I decide on new wordmarks.
  5. They are introducing a mode this year called Diamond Dynasty...its pretty much like Ultimate Team, where you build your roster with card packs...but the difference is you get to name your team and create logos for them in an in game editor as well as design their uniforms.
  6. Thanks for the reply and feedback. I tried my best to incorporate the powder blue as a primary color without going too over the top with it, besides the blue alt jersey, which I ended up really liking combined with the white cap. I would have used a template that featured a hitter, but I couldn't find one that I liked. I would have made a template myself, but my free time has been a bit more limited lately. Yeah, my favorite part of the uniform is the white cap too. I am seriously considering finding a local place and having one made for myself. haha
  7. Seeing the release for MLB The Show is a few weeks away and they included a Mode this year which lets you create a team along with their logos and uniforms. I grabbed uniform and cap templates that I like on DeviantArt and took to photoshop to attempt to come up with a few uniform concepts for my potential team. Team Logos Home Cap Away Cap Batting Practice Cap Home Uniform Away Uniform Alternate Away Uniform Alternate Home Uniform (credit for the templates goes to Deviant Art user, Jaxon)
  8. Well I'm glad there is SOMETHING on the jersey, at least. haha I Found these on a Google search, good to see that the 1912 Highlanders uniform sports the NY logo.
  9. I know, I'm a little disappointed too. At the Red Sox winter caravan last month (where they passed out ticket vouchers, etc.), I asked one of the PR higher-ups about the possibility of a patch on the cap. He said at the time it was still being discussed. He said they were debating how often (if at all) it would be worn. I wouldn't count it out yet. Heck, MLB still hasn't announced 2012's playoff format as of today, and spring training is already fully underway. I'm sure they (New Era) could mass produce these caps in a matter of days, like they do for the World Series. I'm still optimistic. I'm not giving up until the Sox cross the lines April 13 at the Fenway opener without them. Well, I think the Red Sox and Yankees are doing something special, in terms of uniforms, for the 100th Anniversary Game on April 20th. Maybe it will have something to do with in game patches or something to commemorate the occasion. I believe both teams are wearing throwbacks from 1912 on April 20. Yup, just read that on the Fenway 100 site, thats should be pretty cool. I really hope there is more to the 1912 uniforms compared to the 1918 uniforms the Red Sox wore against the Cubs last year....which were totally blank white unis.

  11. I totally agree with you there, I hope in the coming years The North End will be able to preserve that character...and to be honest, its a good thing that the North End is a ways off from a T line. A nice long walk is a good way to burn off those calories you will inevitably pack on walking through the North End. haha
  12. Being Italian in Boston, I can safely say... The North End = Heaven in urban neighborhood form! haha Agreed. I wish it was more T friendly, I was trying to get an apartment there last summer but the closest I could get to a station was at least a 15-20 min walk to Haymarket. Still doesn't stop me from getting a 2am pizza every Friday night. Great area. I think the fact that it was cut off from the rest of the city by the Artery for decades really helped it stave off total gentrification and kept its character. Okay then. Let's make the Toronto Maple Leafs red and blue and the LA Dodgers black and orange while we're at it. What does this mean? Make a team's colors the same as their rivals. Bucket Thats what Primary and SECONDARY colors are for. Plus, I see no problem with two rival teams wearing the same colors, its all in how a team uses and wears their colors.

  14. The Red Sox should NOT adopt green as one of their colors. It would go totally against the franchise's history, for one. Just because Fenway Park is synonymous with the color green doesn't make it a good reason for the Red Sox to reflect that in the team's image, other than in patch form. The Red Sox and Fenway may go hand in hand with each other, but they should always be handled as separate entities when it comes to imagery and design. I will admit, I don't even like the fact that Red Sox ownership have plastered logos all over the green monster and mowed the hanging sox logo into the infield grass!...I guess I'm just more of a purist when it comes to being a Sox fan. haha The Red Sox team have had Navy as apart of their color scheme for most of their existence. Off the top of my head, I can go back as far as the 1930s. Even though, it doesn't reflect on the digital layouts on this site and others, the Yankees actually use a slightly darker shade of navy than the Red Sox do. To prove this, put a Yankee cap next to a Red Sox cap. So yes, the Red Sox may incorporate navy, the same color that their rival uses in their colors, but they are actually different shades.
  15. Cool, I was looking for a place to bring that up! too late now though. lol Yeah, ditching those awful cool base hats is a great move, I agree. Every team should ditch them! I've never been a fan of the design or have I been a fan of the cool base practice jerseys, for that matter. That navy blue v-neck mesh BP jersey the Sox sported in the 90s is one of my favorite jerseys ever.
