If anyone would like, I have an excel sheet that gives you exact mileage "as the crow flies" for how far away every team is in comparison to another.
I have MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS and D1A College Football.
Just give me your e-mail and I can send you the excel file.
Kind of a half bump/half if anyone has any specific request for any league outside of Division 1 College Basketball which I am currently working on, I can do it as well.
Damn, I was working on something like that for college football, except it was driving distances (except for Hawaii).
Anyway, here's my (and probably other people's) NBA idea. No more conferences, just five divisions of six teams.
PACIFIC
Lakers
Clippers
Warriors
Kings
Blazers
Suns
SOUTHWEST
Jazz
Nuggets
Spurs
Mavericks
Rockets
Thunder
SOUTH
Grizzlies
Hornets
Heat
Magic
Hawks
Bobcats
CENTRAL
Timberwolves
Bucks
Bulls
Pacers
Pistons
Cavaliers
EAST
Wizards
Raptors
76ers
Knicks
Nets
Celtics
Top 16 make playoffs, division champions guaranteed home court advantage in first round. All-Star teams picked same way as in the NHL.

The SEC should stay the same, The Big 10 adds Nebraska,Notre Dame, Rutgers, Pitt and Mizzou. The Pac 10 adds the Big 12 South.
Mountain West adds Boise St, Kansas, and Nevada. Kansas St to Big East. Iowa St and Baylor go to C-USA.
Ideally there are 120 FBS schools, so there should be 10 12 team conferences, but for some reason it never does.
South Alabama is starting a football program which is supposed to be in the Sun Belt by 2013, so there will be 121 FBS schools.

If the Big 12 does cease to exist in a few years the Big Ten should grab the five north schools left out in the cold.
Yeah I know the Big Ten wants an east coast presence (jamming the Big Ten network into NYC to rake in the $$$$) with Rutgers and would basically do anything to grab Notre Dame (more $$$$). Iowa State & Kansas State would pretty much bring nothing to the table but Kansas, Missouri & Nebraska would.
East - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue
West - Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin
If this happened, I would then have Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State go to the SEC, and Texas Tech, Baylor and Colorado to the Mountain West, who would take over the Big Twelve's automatic BCS berth and split into two divisions. The remaining bowl tie-ins would by divvied up among the three conferences. So, to recap:
SEC East: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
SEC West: Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M
MWC North: Air Force, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Utah, Wyoming
MWC South: Baylor, New Mexico, San Diego State, TCU, Texas Tech, UNLV

Has anybody got any basketball or football templates that will work with paint? I can't afford corel draw or illustrator and tried zonedraw3 and inkscape with no luck.
I used one of STLFanatic's templates in Paint for one of my concepts, and it turned out all right.

I do agree that the NHL overexpanded and that Houston would have been a better destination than Phoenix. Any particular reason you went with Anaheim over Tampa Bay?
