  1. And thanks to this CCM template, reasonable multi-color collars CAN exist...
  2. The fact that the first E in Eagles does NOT have a serif is going to bug me...
  3. I love all of these updates to the Expos, particularly the Whips inspired updates. My only criticism is that there is too much mixing of red and blue elements, it reminds me of the headache down in Texas. Red hats with blue jerseys, blue jerseys with read hats... Too much. Otherwise, I’m totally on board!
  4. Just a quick drive-by comment to tell you the red/black/blue set is MONEY. It ties in to the “city” sports colors of red and black (Blazers, Winterhawks, prior eras of Beavers) but adds in a delightful and fitting twist with the light blue. NAILED IT, my friend. Thank you for your kind words in your reply, and I share many of the same sentiments re: the likelihood of a stadium/team coming together.
  5. Bravo! I am quite pleased and it has been well worth the wait for the first (and hopefully not the last) Portland entry in this series! I’m not sure if it was on purpose, but the light blue and forest green (my terms, to be sure) made me think of Tampa Bay. But in no way does it feel like it’s copping their old color scheme. This totally stands on its own. And kudos for not just copying the White Stag sign - and yes, I’m old enough to remember when it didn’t say Made in Oregon. The heritage set based off the 1956/57 Beavers makes me happier than you could imagine. I hate to nitpick, because frankly, I couldn’t do what you do. But part of me wonders if the Stags text may look better in green? And kudos for using the reference picture of my namesake posing in the striped undershirts. For what it’s worth, I once made an appearance on UniWatch with my DYI of the striped undershirt - which would be fun to see as an option for the Stags (hint, hint!) Lastly, thank you for sharing some of the background of the Portland Baseball Group. I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Kanter for a tv show back in 2003. He was quite a gentleman and I will forever be grateful for his time. Anyway, PBG really got screwed over by the city of Portland who completely bent over backwards for the Portland Family Entertainment bid. That’s a fascinating read in its own right. But I digress... I wish I had more hands so I could give this concept four thumbs up!! Great job!
  6. Hmm... does that last statement mean we might see blue and yellow for the Portland A’s? Something to tie in to the state colors rather than just a “simple transfer” of the kelly/yellow Oakland look? Seriously, the Portland elements of this thread are the ones I await so eagerly. Everything in this project has been a goldmine, but I do have my favorites that I’m waiting for. Keep up the great work!
  7. Great work on the Sultanes! I love the pallete, and it's a strong balance of traditional with modern cleanliness. The only thing that's hard for me to unsee, is if I turn the logo 90 degrees to the right, Cerro de la Silla looks like the profile of a face.
  8. I love what you did with the interlocking SG logo! Exactly what I had hoped to see. And then the updated Toronto Giants "G" looks great, too. I never noticed that little serif at the bottom before. It looks out of place, but it's there, plain as day.
  9. Really love the crazy history regarding the failed ARCO stadium. From a design standpoint, any thoughts on an interlocking SG instead of SF?
  10. The A's to Portland isn't just a recent "development". They've been tied to speculative relocations for at least 15 years. Certainly, the Expos were the focus of the group(s) trying to bring MLB to Portland, but the A's came up as well. We know that their stadium woes aren't new, either. I recall doing a Portland A's concept way back when, although I doubt I posted it here. It was pretty shoddy execution, but my idea was taking the A's cap logo, and replacing the apostrophe with the rosebud and stem from the Portland Rockies cap: Feel free to snag or modify that concept for your Portland A's!
  11. I truly have loved every moment of this concept series. You have a great eye, and you really are grasping the possibilities of the alternate realities. I absolutely loved the BiG logo being reimagined for the Milwaukee Braves. Genius!! Now, as a Portland sports history enthusiast, I'm excited to see what happens in your timelines. Seeing what you have done with the various incarnations of the Athletics, and how they have mixed in prior franchises per each city, I can't help but wonder if we see that in Portland...? Say, a PCL reference that heavily borrowed a design element from a Missouri franchise? I hate to say much more without a spoiler, but... Elephants on the bat??
  12. I am having the same issues on mobile, and pop ups, and redirects everywhere. It's virtually unusable. And I am also getting the same Amazon spinning wheel hijack thingy...
  13. Quick reply here... That first jersey with the half circle above the number? That was a stock Cooper jersey template in the early 1980s, seen throughout major junior, i.e. WHL, OHL, and QMJHL. Would've been wild to have seen that in he NHL!
  14. Love the full Blue Jays script. The numbers are so-so for me. I'm head over heels for the belveling on the 8, but the 5 and 9 are much too similar.
  15. Just saw this and it kinda blew my mind. Roberto Clemente wore the uniform on the left in 1955 and 1956. The team changed to the vest style, which seems to be the "iconic" uni for Clemente, in 1957. https://twitter.com/uniformcritic/status/947460784975695873
  16. Pops in a Braves uniform still is a wild one for me, even though I have vivid memories of when it happened. Also, I'll see your Gibby with the the Mets and raise you a Gibby with the Braves...
  17. Clyde Drexler was their star, after he quit wearing Roos. There was an Avia branded Drexler fanclub (I was a member) and I still have some Avia branded Drexler promo material I picked up when my dad worked for the company.
  18. Here's one for consideration... Bill Walton: Only played 4 years for the Blazers. Brought the team it's only NBA title, so is that his "right" team? For the sake of argument, let's say yes. His rookie season, 1974/75 was the last season for this style with the tail under "blazers". The next season, 1975/76, they switched to the vertical style which became famous the following season when they won the championship. The season after that, 1977/78, saw the introduction to the now iconic "sash" style uniforms, which Walton only wore that year before injuries and a trade sent him packing. Interesting twist: when the Blazers retired his number prior to I believe their 1989/90 season opener, they presented him a framed version of the "sash" style jersey. Was it simply because that's what they had available to customize? That's what I suspect... So, which one is his "wrong" jersey?
  19. The Blazers did a fantastic job with the uniforms. My personal memory from that game was that it was back when the team did pay-per-view for their home games. Keep in mind they were running a multi-season long sellout streak, so PPV was a legit option for fans. I paid for the game that night, and I taped it. I'm sure I've got the tape somewhere in a box - would love to transfer it to digital at some time.
  20. Adding to the pre-1996 NBA throwbacks... November 17, 1994 - Cleveland at Portland, celebrating each team's 25th season (Portland actually had a 25th Anniversary logo that year)
  21. His personal Twitter is still up, but yeah, I'm guessing we've seen the last of the ColorWerx side of things.
  22. I don't think this has been mentioned, but the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Northwest League, Single-A Short Season) posted a 20th Anniversary logo on their Facebook page back in February. No idea if it's going to be used as a patch or just in promotional material. 2016 is their 20th season, so, there's that bit of info...
