  1. Just saw this and it kinda blew my mind. Roberto Clemente wore the uniform on the left in 1955 and 1956. The team changed to the vest style, which seems to be the "iconic" uni for Clemente, in 1957. https://twitter.com/uniformcritic/status/947460784975695873
  2. Pops in a Braves uniform still is a wild one for me, even though I have vivid memories of when it happened. Also, I'll see your Gibby with the the Mets and raise you a Gibby with the Braves...
  3. Clyde Drexler was their star, after he quit wearing Roos. There was an Avia branded Drexler fanclub (I was a member) and I still have some Avia branded Drexler promo material I picked up when my dad worked for the company.
  4. Here's one for consideration... Bill Walton: Only played 4 years for the Blazers. Brought the team it's only NBA title, so is that his "right" team? For the sake of argument, let's say yes. His rookie season, 1974/75 was the last season for this style with the tail under "blazers". The next season, 1975/76, they switched to the vertical style which became famous the following season when they won the championship. The season after that, 1977/78, saw the introduction to the now iconic "sash" style uniforms, which Walton only wore that year before injuries and a trade sent him packing. Interesting twist: when the Blazers retired his number prior to I believe their 1989/90 season opener, they presented him a framed version of the "sash" style jersey. Was it simply because that's what they had available to customize? That's what I suspect... So, which one is his "wrong" jersey?
  5. The Blazers did a fantastic job with the uniforms. My personal memory from that game was that it was back when the team did pay-per-view for their home games. Keep in mind they were running a multi-season long sellout streak, so PPV was a legit option for fans. I paid for the game that night, and I taped it. I'm sure I've got the tape somewhere in a box - would love to transfer it to digital at some time.
  6. Adding to the pre-1996 NBA throwbacks... November 17, 1994 - Cleveland at Portland, celebrating each team's 25th season (Portland actually had a 25th Anniversary logo that year)
  7. His personal Twitter is still up, but yeah, I'm guessing we've seen the last of the ColorWerx side of things.
  8. I don't think this has been mentioned, but the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Northwest League, Single-A Short Season) posted a 20th Anniversary logo on their Facebook page back in February. No idea if it's going to be used as a patch or just in promotional material. 2016 is their 20th season, so, there's that bit of info...
  9. WOW! Great find! I am definitely intrigued by Duke's narrow taper belt, and what appears to be a small front pocket over his right thigh.
  10. In light of the news of former Trail Blazer Jerome Kersey's sudden passing tonight, I thought I'd share this..
  11. YES. THIS. I just don't get the love for this set. I truly believe if someone posted a basketball concept like this, it would be laughed off the board in a heartbeat. The 1970s Helvetica-ish font screams "I'm using Microsoft Word fonts in Paint to design this jersey". I hate it. And yes, I'll go there... Would people still be nuts for this uni if it *wasn't* a FloJo design?
  12. It's probably my lack of sleep talking, but what if the Jets moved their AHL affiliate to Seattle? It's a helluva lot closer than the Great White Northeast, there's a vacant (yet, crappy America West/Barclay's configured) arena ready to move into, and they can play off the Jets/Sonics theme and don green & yellow sweaters. BAM.
  13. While I can't address other teams, I can safely opine that the Volcanoes identity is a complete cluster-fluff. Has been from day one. Could anyone who wasn't here when the team moved to town tell you that the abstract volcano has a "K" shaped plume for Keizer and an "S" shaped lava flow for Salem? Yup... Does it need a Brandiose treatment? Hell no! But it could use a little freshening up, something to make it look a little less 1996-ish, IMO.
  14. I second those nominations. Roger and Discrim really kept me motivated and inspired back when I used to do a lot of hockey jersey concepts. I also second the nomination for Eriq Jaffe and his fonts.
  15. The alternating black / blue scheme makes this feel like a Fightin' Phils leftover. Also, the duck vaguely reminds me of the Edmonton Roadrunners. Sorry I'm in phone, but here's the link to Chris' site - http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/loib3g04fot5trrmrdl5c5b0r/Edmonton_Roadrunners/2005/Primary_Logo
  16. In response to the question of players who did a photo shoot with their new team, but never played a game with them, here's my submission from 5 years ago:
  17. Wearing #31, FWIW... The Yanks retired 51 for Bernie Williams, right?
  18. So, I'm confused... Did the Mets retire then unretire #31? Was it for a John Franco or Mike Piazza event, that they just wanted the number on the wall, but it wasn't official?
  19. Seems appropriate, given the latest news regarding the Killer...
  20. Hoping someone might know what font is used in the Carolina Panthers wordmark: Thanks!
  21. Thank you kindly, Lights!!!!
  22. Does anyone know what font was used for the Burger King alts? Thanks!
  23. I agree... Furthermore, two things come to mind. One, there's NO way the NHL would approve of this, especially after the girl in Columbus was hit with a puck. When that happened, up went the nets. Having a sky bridge, regardless of placement (either over the stands or over the ice) would be a HUGE liability. Second, I think of the smaller rinks in the Canadian Hockey League where there are gondolas suspended over the rink for members of the press. Low hanging baskets + high flying pucks = radio PBP members diving for cover!
