I'd argue the Steelers moving their entire striping pattern down to accommodate the manufacturer logo is a worse offender than the Vikings

Or the Niners going from three strips to two.

Using "vibrant" and "Houston Texans uniforms" in the same conversation is a Texas-sized stretch.

It was vibrant as it could be during the Toughening. I remember when the original got unveiled, my eyes lingered on the away way more then it did on the navy homes.

Look at that combo. The red POPPED on there. And the all-white  version with the navy socks weren't to shabby either.

And Battle Red. There's a reason why I want them to the primary.

The Oilers were a tough act to follow, and the Texans' brand is too limited conceptually. I still think they made a big mistake not picking Apollos as the name.

I badly wanted something space themed.

These badly need to be saved by pants striping that we  still can't really see, because if all that they did was alter the striping and font and change the numbers from red to navy, that is a clear downgrade.

The reflection on the right shows it's a thick red stripe and thin white stripe ala the Rams.

  4. It's a downgrade but not as bad as I thought. I will heavily red number especially my eyes were drawn to the red numbers of the original. Hopefully the number font is the one constant...

Yeah well one man's spectacular is another man's toilet paper. 🤷

Texans' fans view the word of the man called "Pancakes" with a grain of salt.

What are we doing here folks? There are a hand full of different factors (lighting, projection, material, the camera or medium of the photo) that factor into how colors present. Comparing different photos to make distinct color comparison arguments is silly

I can't help it. It's my team. Especially when we had a good design out the gate. Albeit a recolored USC with modded borders but still.

Crawling jaguar logo. Not sure which year they would base it off of though. Hopefully the 97-08 font like the font used in the 30th anniversary logos in this thread. The team sent an email awhile back with a poll of which uniforms did fans like the best. The 95-08s won by a lot. I think 13-17 was 2nd, followed by present day, and 09-12 was last. The majority of fans that I interact with want the original uniforms with the crawling jaguar on the sleeve back with the current logo. I personally think they should just use the throwbacks once or twice a year, and tweak their current uniforms to add gold and black to the home and teal and gold to the road/white.

    13-17 2nd? Really?

In other speculation. I don't if its the Kroger tags but that's not our usual blue...

I fully agree that the yellow and white pants are already outstanding and don't want them to go away. I just think when people think of the Chargers they think of the powder blue and would be a good option if they ever play say the Packers or Steelers who also wear yellow pants

They do have the white pants for that. Powder pants would be ok but only if hey got some white stripe socks for. Maybe like P/Y/P stripes on it.

  9. I could probably see the Chargers adding a navy (or even a flake dark royal) helmet for their darker color alts. As for the Titans, I think (and I say this with disgust as a Texans fan) they join the 49ers, Dolphins and possibly Seahawks in having home and road Oiler throwbacks just so they can wear them in Houston.

Houston teams always straddling the line of going all in on this look. They want to be noticed by people who care, but unrecognized by people who don't. IMO they should go all in, put a screw through the logo, double cup stacked white trim on the sleeves, chromed out logos, wood grain stripes. Just using the color purple isn't enough.

It needs a pattern. Or an arc. Or stripes.

Disappointing honestly. I was hoping they'd do a pattern that looks like a nebula instead of just a solid purple shirt.

Like this. Honestly the graphics made me think it was going to be this. Plus everyone is still pissed that Dynamo never had a light blue kit despite their sister club Dash having blue kits or prominent blue elements since day one.

Until MLS gets viewed globally on the same tier as the top leagues that will be the case. That will never happen though unless the remove the salary cap and say 5 or so owners go all out buying international talent.

    1. Salary cap ain't going away due to parity and the fact that the owners are more like investors in the league with the teams being a physical embodiment of their share instead of the clubs being separate companies like they are in the rest of the world or in the other American leagues. Which was created to prevent what did in the NASL which was incompetent owners. MLS is at a healthy point where each team has its own owner or set of owners instead of mostly being divided between Lamar Hunt (RIP) and AEG and their own soccer specific stadium or a plan to build one instead of just renting an NFL or college (with exceptions) for the long term to own all the profits.

    2. Designated player is exactly that which got made when Beckham came.

Plus there's a whole bunch a people that will always say "I won't respect MLS until start pro/rel like Europe" or "MLS should switch to fall/winter/spring like the rest of the world" not knowing how American sports culture started mostly from the east and expanded westward and have no idea of the sheer size of our country or media markets works. Would ESPN even cover a league without with New York or LA teams? Hell, the AFL was getting clowned in the newspapers pre Super Bowl and during since many viewed them as a "Mickey Mouse" league.

And as for the global schedule, ask the original USFL how it worked out when they went head to head with NFL instead staying in its spring lane. MLS at least has April 'til August to build its audience against baseball, racing and women's basketball, now that the playoffs bleed into Bowl season. Just have tell Apple to not have every game in prime time.

  12. I too say NASCAR. It th we only one on the pro level that has TV or that type of prestige.

It just looks like it is just ripping off the Amazon Prime and NBC football graphics with the circle in the middle. It looks good, but it's just repetitive.

    Also, re: The CW graphics:

It's too simplistic. It looks like something a high schooler put together.

Especially with the lack of padding in some of the elements. This is definitely a first draft that should have been refined.
