Until MLS gets viewed globally on the same tier as the top leagues that will be the case. That will never happen though unless the remove the salary cap and say 5 or so owners go all out buying international talent.

    1. Salary cap ain't going away due to parity and the fact that the owners are more like investors in the league with the teams being a physical embodiment of their share instead of the clubs being separate companies like they are in the rest of the world or in the other American leagues. Which was created to prevent what did in the NASL which was incompetent owners. MLS is at a healthy point where each team has its own owner or set of owners instead of mostly being divided between Lamar Hunt (RIP) and AEG and their own soccer specific stadium or a plan to build one instead of just renting an NFL or college (with exceptions) for the long term to own all the profits.

    2. Designated player is exactly that which got made when Beckham came.

Plus there's a whole bunch a people that will always say "I won't respect MLS until start pro/rel like Europe" or "MLS should switch to fall/winter/spring like the rest of the world" not knowing how American sports culture started mostly from the east and expanded westward and have no idea of the sheer size of our country or media markets works. Would ESPN even cover a league without with New York or LA teams? Hell, the AFL was getting clowned in the newspapers pre Super Bowl and during since many viewed them as a "Mickey Mouse" league.

And as for the global schedule, ask the original USFL how it worked out when they went head to head with NFL instead staying in its spring lane. MLS at least has April 'til August to build its audience against baseball, racing and women's basketball, now that the playoffs bleed into Bowl season. Just have tell Apple to not have every game in prime time.

  2. I too say NASCAR. It th we only one on the pro level that has TV or that type of prestige.

How can we group MLS with the other four leagues, when the world's best players don't play there?

It's the major league in soccer in the U.S. And arguably the greatest player of all-time IS playing here, so...

    When they retire.

Messi on a cash grab tour before he retires like Beckham. Like he even cares or is trying to win an MLS title...

Pretty much. Messi just here to live the quiet life of a Florida man.

It just looks like it is just ripping off the Amazon Prime and NBC football graphics with the circle in the middle. It looks good, but it's just repetitive.

    Also, re: The CW graphics:

It's too simplistic. It looks like something a high schooler put together.

Especially with the lack of padding in some of the elements. This is definitely a first draft that should have been refined.

  4. That's all I want. Battle red primary. Maybe have the rumored "Bull" uniform be navy ones with red names and numbers. The one game we wore it has to be a preview of what's to come.

I'm thinking the home and road are going to be a little asymmetrical.

Do people in Houston actually use the phrase H-Town? I'm asking because I honestly don't know and have never heard it until these rebrand leaks over the last few months.

From an outsider with no knowledge of "H-Town" it feels very cringe.  Even the font is cringe to me, but again, there could be some Houston tie there that I have no idea about.

We do. The name Houston comes from Sam Houston's ancestor Sir Hugh de Paduinan who founded the villiage of Houston, Renfrewshire, Scotland or Hugh's Town.

The meme is H-TINE, HOLD IT DINE.

We’re 100% gonna get “H-Town” on at least half the new uniforms, aren’t we?

I hope not. One maybe, but not two.

Once again, the helmet finish makes the red too dark.

If the "candy" finish is a must for you, then they need to bump the red up a shade (from 187 C to 186 C / 185 C) to compensate.

    Uniform snob!Me: Great another mono.

Texans fan!Me: But its our best mono!! And look at red! Full ketchup bottle since 2010. Frick I'm old...

Also me: now that we got red pants back, mix and match pretty please 🙏 🥺

The bull head with the light up eyes is absolutely hilarious

I just now noticed that they changed the entrance bull. Two years ago. Shows how apathetic I was about the team. This was the original.

The new one's a bit more regal.

Shout out to #33 for the Texans, who ran out wearing red socks. It definitely improves the look.

Dobbs got pulled down by his stupid undershirt.

If that's not a warning to tuck in the undershirts, I don't know what is.

I don't hate for it like most people here but yeah. Disadvantage.

Anyone notice that the color circle emojis in the tweet are red and something close to Luv Ya Blue? That has to be a hint at something

Nah that's the standard blue emoji.

Houston is also wearing the red helmets the following Sunday against Jacksonville (with the red jerseys).

That would be the final time they can wear it this season, which means they will not be wearing it for their Christmas Eve home game, which is an interesting choice.

They said the red helmets were going to be worn 3 times at home. Now that we know the first two, my prediction is we will see the third time on the season finale.

This is all your fault, Bud Adams.

Oh it's definitely been discussed here before...namely by me. And no, the Broncos shouldn't have made their current orange jerseys their primary. That set was so obviously designed for navy to be the primary, but as I understand it the fans pushed for the orange shirts to be the primary dark tops, so here we are.

As much as I don't like the Toughening (Thanks @timjameskohler) of the 90's and 2000's now, the Broncos new uniforms were definitely made with navy in mind. If it were up to us, we would just clone and recolor the Color Rush jerseys. Though I would keep the current numbers though.
