They removed the website because they leaked the images on their website first. I had the Director of PR messaging me on facebook begging me to take down my post showing the logos. lol

I had the same thing happened to me, as well. More so via text than a Facebook message. Nonetheless, the logos are family friendly, and I can live with "Sod Dogs" more so than "Sod Poodles."

  2. Since this is front and center in the Logos board, I do have one suggestion: Including Champions Indoor Football under the "Indoor Football" section of the Football tab on the mothership. It's the merger between Champions Professional Indoor Football League and Lone Star Football League, shares Tier II with the Indoor Football League beneath the AFL while the main site hosts dead leagues such as the PIFL and the X-League.

I have most of the logos on file, including an expansion team tapped for the 2016 season.

Here are the logos, along with a few notes. Hang in there, it's a bit of a long post. Main reason being is that I just wanted to have all of the bases covered.

  3. Actually, it could have been a lot worse.

For one, the Amarillo Sox was a terrible name with a culture of losing. In my circle of friends here in Amarillo, we labeled them "the Sux". So to change the culture and to prepare for the opening of the new downtown stadium, Stephanie Tucker (the General Manager) held a "name-the-team" contest. This is what came out of that contest. Another interesting point to make about the Dillas nickname is that the ownership who held the name has a debt (from unpaid bills, etc.) and even if the fans wanted the Dillas to return, Tucker and the current ownership were unable to attain the Dillas nickname.

Regarding the Thunderheads logo, the gold symbolizes the lineage of both the Sox and Gold Sox. The navy blue and scarlet red symbolize the connection to the Amarillo Dillas. In my opinion, while it is imperfect... it's a good call back and is a step in a new direction.

  4. I believe that the number 14 should be the magical number for the big-time conferences. Do away with the Big East football conference first, then have the remainder of the Big East (West Virginia, Louisville, Cincinnati, and South Florida) join the Big 12 and bring in BYU. The Big Ten should wrap up their goal of attaining the NYC market with Rutgers and UConn. The ACC and the SEC could definitely stay where they are. The Pac-12 (even though Cal and Stanford would hate it) could draw in Boise State and (this one is quite out there) Hawaii. While that may a little out there... the markets are manageable, there's a decent balance of high academics and high athletics, it could also allow a Mountain West/C-USA confederation to attain an at-large bid, and keep Norte Dame independent.

Please feel free to call me crazy. Haha.

Boise State is basically zero on the academic scale.

Understood. Hence the whole balance/pipe dream talk. However, I wouldn't think there would be a decent substitute that has more of an academic profile than that of a 'junior college on steriods' like a BSU, would there? Just curious more than anything.

  6. I agree whole-heartedly with Rams. It was the Pac-12 (with the possible expansion of UT, OU, Oklahoma State, A&M, and Texas Tech) that forced the Big 10's hand in bringing in Nebraska (even though Mizzou was at fault for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time to the Big 12). Yes, the Big 10 wanted to expand to 12 teams to have the cash cow of a championship game...but it was going to take a slow and grinding year or more for any statements to be made.

My thoughts: The Big Ten, the Big 12, SEC, PAC-12, and ACC are done or have been done expanding for the moment. The next expansion/division talk will be between the Big East football schools and the Big East basketball schools (perhaps led by Notre Dame?) breaking off into separate conferences. The Big East Football Conference will look at perhaps a Central Florida and East Carolina while waiting on Villanova's decision to make their 12 (or stick to just ten with TCU and 'Nova and play a round-robin schedule like the Big 12).

Out west, however, it'd be a little more touchy. I'm sure the Mountain West will still want to keep a presence in Texas and pursue SMU and Houston (along with Utah State, barring if or when Hawaii will want to jump ship and become a football-only member) to make it twelve. With this, the WAC will be considered an "unclassified" conference, appeal to the NCAA, or disintegrate altogether.

Like I said before, with this next round of conference movement, your main casualties will end up being the Conference USA and the WAC.
