I have this idea for some time and would love some opinions about it:
It's an alternate universe type of series about "soccer" in the US. In this universe, "soccer" is the english word for Futsal. The NASL was founded in the early 60's (in real life it was 1968) as a futsal league, with similar rules as the ones we have today. The league would evolve over the years, and the sport would be as popular as today's NBA. It would be cool to test some rules concepts like, for example, a hockey style offside line.
Design-wise the uniforms would be more "american" style in the sense of wordmarks over actual badges and stuff like that. Also, courts would evolve in the same sense as basketball courts have, with use of colors and patterns (even ads on the sidelines in the more recent ones). For the teams, I would probably use some of the original NASL and MLS identities, with some tweaks of course.
If I end up doing it (I have some stuff sketched out already) I'm not even sure if it would be a "fan fiction" type of series (not really planning on simulating results and stuff like that) or just do the uniforms and teams from each era.- 1

I would definitely up for that. I always wanted to create a league package for MLS. It's one small thing for the league but I truly believe the league would have more outreach if they had their own brand.
But really is there anything better than football
No there Isn't, haha.
I'll try to post some cleaned up Premier League graphics over here -

What are you planning on doing with the graphics once you create them in Photoshop? I am a fan of the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, UEFA's UCL and Euro qualifying graphics. Serie A needs an update for sure. I wish MLS had an identity package instead of native station packages.
I have no idea. I do have a plan of rebranding the brazilian league and woul use those as reference but I would make them just for the fun of it, could make a little database thread with the help of others (focusing on other sports as well) -

Love the new LaLiga one as well. I'm planning on making some of those graphics on photoshop and the soccer ones would be the first ones I look at -
No soccer yet? I really do prefer the leagues to have their own tv graphics packages instead of who is broadcasting.

I love the official team pics on famous landmarks during NBA Global Games.
Here are the 5 NBA teams that played here in Rio for example:
It looks really nice, but I think they should change the spot every year, specially in cities with load of famous landmarks.- 1

I´ve been thinking about starting a fictional league, either hockey or soccer, and simulate through seasons and all that. I face two problems;
1) Don´t feel like creating teams from citites/states that already has an NHL team. Feels like that´s already been done and doesn´t need to be done once more. Also, creating a league in, let´s say Germany, doesn´t sound like fun either.
2) A North american soccer League would be fun since I don´t follow the MLS, which would´t make me feel like i´m recreating the league. Problem here is that soccer teams change their jerseys and jersey sponsors every year and having to change all the jerseys every year would simply take too much time. I want to keep it fairly realistic, that´s why stuff like this bothers me lol.
Any tips/thoughts on how to go about this?
I'm actually working on something similar to what already exists here in the forum for both Hockey (PHL) and Football (AFA) and the way I'm thinking about it is that Soccer would start to become popular on the US during the 20's (similar to in South America), and on the 30's teams from some state leagues in the northeast would create an league that would start evolving on the east coast, eventually expand to the west coast and Canada, but keep the USA style of franchises, proper drafts and not that many uniform changes (but I think having a bunch of alternates and throwbacks like the NBA has could work to mix things up coming to the late 00's).
Are you interested on helping with this type of stuff in any way? The project is actually a bit developed in my mind and I am getting stuff done in terms of simulation, storyline and indexing players and places already.
For your hockey alternative, I actually do think it would be cool for you to look on some european countries. How about one USSR hockey league but the USSR never dissolves?- 1

I really like the idea of a individual sport being that dynamic, but for me this concept might work better with on a 2v2 with substitutes and goals on both ends of the court.
