Maybe they'll go with the Warner Coliseum on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds...that's my guess.

That'd be interesting. I know they had a semi-pro indoor football team there in the late '90s. That building is incredibly old as well, I hope it's still in good shape. Personally haven't been in there since they stopped hosting HS hockey games about a decade ago.

Minnesota Myth? Sounds like a women's X League team and not an Arena League team. The Fighting Pike was right there!!

I loathe that name -- but as a Twin Cities resident, if they actually take the field, I'll be there.

Now I'm wondering where they'll play. I can't imagine they've managed to make a deal with the big arenas in town.

When Orlando was announced, the Commissioner of the AFL said that there was going to be 20 teams.

Ah I see, I must have missed that. I've seen both 16 and 20 teams floating around, didn't realize 20 came directly from the commish.

I'm hopeful the remaining announcements will be more like Nashville and Orlando, and less like Dodge City and Council Bluffs.

  5.

This tweet would seem to confirm Chicago and Philadelphia as well, bringing us to 14 teams confirmed by the league. If they are aiming for 16, I wonder who the last two would be? I've seen reports about the VooDoo in Lake Charles and the Florida Cyclones in Lakeland, FL.

  6. The NLL announced a new schedule format today, along with getting rid of conferences altogether.

I personally love the change. It's been long overdue for each team to play each opponent once each season. I do wonder how it will impact some of the smaller franchises though, like Panther City or Albany.

  7. I couldn't be more thrilled at this news - the AFL was a huge part of me getting into sports in the mid-00's as a kid. I just hope they're able to find a sustainable model. For many of the reasons already stated, I'm not holding my breath. Still, I'm hopeful they can reach the peak they had around '05-'07.

It'd be great if they could get some "legacy" brands in the fold, like what the USFL did last year. That may be asking for too much, but long live the San Jose SaberCats!

  8. The NLL returns this weekend! I'm super excited for this season, so I thought I'd put a little 2022-23 prediction together.

    WEST

    San Diego 14-4

    Colorado 11-7

    Panther City 10-8

    Vancouver 8-10

    Saskatchewan 8-10

    Calgary 6-12

    Las Vegas 4-14

    EAST

    Toronto 13-5

    Buffalo 12-6

    Halifax 11-7

    New York 10-8

    Philadelphia 9-9*

    Georgia 7-11

    Albany 7-11

    Rochester 5-13

Colorado edges past San Diego in three games in the West Final, while Toronto sweeps Buffalo in the East Final.

Toronto defeats Colorado in three games for the championship.

On another note, I really hope the league itself is in a good spot. It seems like Nicky Sak did pretty well as commissioner, I hope we see more of the same from Brett Frood.

This rebrand is probably the most personally significant of my life, eclipsing the 2013 Vikings and 2014 Florida State, so I have plenty of thoughts:

    Updated "TC" Cap

    • Seeing it in an official capacity, I now definitely think it's an upgrade over the former logo. Part of me will probably always miss the serifs, and I liked that the line weight of the old "C" was more consistent throughout, but I can see why they made the updates they made. The cap looks a lot better. My first instict was that I'd miss the red squatchtee, but I I actually might like the solid navy.

    "M" Cap

    • This seems to be the most divisive element of the rebrand, but I've gotta say, I absolutely love it. Plenty of people online are saying it looks like the Marlins, which I understand, but, importantly, it looks like the old Marlins, from a set that only lasted 6 years at that. This is a great update of the Senators "W," whether that was intentional or not, and the star connects it wonderfully with the dual-color nature of the TC.

    Home Uniform

    • I love it. It's probably my favorite uniform of the set. The solid red wordmark was definitely a bit jarring when it was leaked, but now I'm so glad they went that route. A lot of people seem to be lamenting the loss of outlines, but I applaud the move, as it again connects with the dual-color TC and easily separates them from the rest of the red/navy teams, while also recalling classic baseball looks (i.e. the Dodgers, Yankees, & Tigers). Also, I love love love the thicker stripes, I've been wanting the Twins to do that for years. The fact that it's consistently navy/white/red across the set makes it even better.

    Road Uniform

    • I think I've made my thoughts on road pinstripes for the Twins clear, but I can't lie, something about them looks inescapably Twins. I'm glad they flipped the colors of the wordmark & front number, as a red wordmark would have been way too difficult to read. The white in the stripes really pops off of the gray background. The pinstripes being subliminated is a nice touch too, I believe it's a first in MLB.

    Home Alternate Uniform

    • This one is probably the most lacking for me, as I'm not in love with solely using navy. I think using splashes of red would really help it pop, much like the rest of the set does. I'm not as big of a fan of the "M" & "StP" flags logo as others seem to be. It just makes me miss Minnie & Paul. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but below the navy of the sleeve stripe there's a thinner pure white stripe, which is a strange choice... It reminds me of the Rams placing white on their former away jersey, seemingly just to highlight that there is in fact a difference. It won't really be noticeable from a distance thought.

    Alternate Navy Uniform

    • Right now this is my 2nd favorite jersey behind the home white, and it could easily top it at some point. This is where the dual-color, single-layer motif really shines, as it allows both the white & the red to really pop off of the navy background. I'm also really glad they darkened the navy to match the cap, the discrepancy between the two on the old set used to really bug me. Having the "TC" as a patch looks better than I thought it would.

Overall, I couldn't be much happier than I am with this rebrand, as my favorite team finally went the route of the Padres, Blue Jays, & Brewers by creating a modern update inspired by their most classic brand elements. The consistency, cleanliness, and thoughtfulness this time around is so refreshing compared to the past decade of completely disparate uniform designs that each looked like they were designed by different entities.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite overall uniform set that the Twins have ever had.

I completely relate to you saying this is one of the most personally significant rebrands of a favorite team -- I have a vivid memory of faking a bathroom break during tennis practice in HS just to see the new Vikings marks in 2013 🤣

Good point about the white stripe on the cream home alternate too; that struck me as unnecessary.

  10. Just returned home from the Mall of America unveiling and wow there were a lot of folks there! It was awesome seeing everyone energized about the Twins, especially considering how the season ended. Were any other CCSLC-ers at the event?!

I love most aspects of the rebrand, though I'm not super fond of the new "M" logo. As soon as they unveiled it, a guy next to me remarked it looks like the old Marlins mark, which many here have pointed out too. Losing Minnie & Paul also sucks, but I do like the new crossed flags logo. Overall, an upgrade imo

  11. The Twins just posted this brief clip to Twitter - you can presumably see a few close-ups of the new uniforms. Interesting font choice on "November 18" as well at the end. I wonder if that's incorporated into the rebrand or just a new font for socials.

EDIT: The second tweet I embedded gives a little bit more. Looking like no pinstripes on the home white uniform, with a possible Minnesota outline logo on the sleeve.

  12. Madden 11 is the last one I know of that includes the create-a-team feature. You can even create 32 different teams and plug them all into a franchise mode if you'd like.

As far as customization options, I'd assume it's also the best one since it's the latest one to include that feature, but not quite sure.

EDIT: Madden 12 is actually the final game to include the create-a-team mode - my bad.

  13. In NLL news, commissioner Nick Sakiewicz is stepping down immediately.

During his tenure the NLL added six teams and signed two new TV deals in Canada and the United States. The timing feels a bit weird with this, but he definitely did a solid job steering the ship.
