Major League Football is a publicly-traded company that is operating as a professional football league. The mission is to give the opportunity to football players, coaches, trainers, and front office personnel the best training and guidance possible. Then, through our original broadcasts, give those participants exposure to the NFL and others so they can advance to their potential.

In other words, unaffiliated minor teams calling themselves major league.

The whole point was to get rid of any Native American imagery, which is what they promised to do.  Removing the feathers and leaving the R within a circle would have visually made them "the Washington Republicans."

When I said ,"modified," I meant more than dropping a feather.  Put a "W" in the circle or the new "W" in burgundy without the circle.

Leaving the "R" didn't make them Republicans but Red wolves, hogs, tails...
In D.C. Capitals are Caps,  Nationals are Nats, what would that make Commanders?

Team President Jason Wright said that per NFL rules " a color from the home or away uniform must be present for it to be used on a 3rd jersey, hence the black trim on the white uniform"

If they're so desperate to add black to the color scheme, 40 miles up the road, look at the Ravens road jersey, swap out the purple with burgundy.

There was a mail in suggestion thing. That somehow ended up on the top 5 list. They did a “fan vote” thing with NBC4 and they said that won. It could be Polin liked and did what Snyder did with Commanders and just do some false vote to make it seem the people wanted it.

Pollin's wife favored it out of the 5 choices, the other's being Dragons, Express, Stallions, and Sea Dogs.  Now we get the Commanders' uniform mess because of the owner's wife.

Is there a back view of the black helmet? I thought I read that they had some design on the back of it? Maybe I'm just crazy.

The black helmets feature the DC flag on the back of the helmet is what was inspired by the "follow-me" stripe on military helmets that was meant to help a group of forces know where their leader was on the battlefield. It also stands as a symbol that honors and celebrates the DC community. The numbers on the sides of the helmets, which was a feature fans liked about the Washington Football Team helmets, are the largest visual identity element.

Wright said in January that the name RedWolves was vetoed because the trademark was unavailable. Such was the case for another name Washington considered: D.C.F.C., for Washington D.C. Football Club. That mark is owned by the USL Championship soccer team Detroit City FC, whose colors are also burgundy and gold.

Commanders was chosen last fall and a meticulous design phase quickly followed. Code & Theory, a company the team used first for its switch to the temporary name Washington Football Team, designed the Commanders logo, and Nike handled the uniform helmet designs. Tanya Snyder, the wife of owner Daniel Snyder who was appointed the team’s co-CEO last summer and has a background in the fashion industry, was said to be heavily involved in the uniform design.

  7. Everything about the rollout today was awkward.  "First off, welcome to NOT the best kept secret in D.C."  On the stage was Joe Theisman, who confirmed the Commanders name earlier this week.  Check the video around the 6:47 mark when Dan attempts to pose with his wife next to the mannequins, and she points for him to stand somewhere else.

pretty sure this is what we got going on based on the images that have been made available.

The road jersey has a black stripe between the white stripes on the sleeves.  Also, the DC flag is on the back of the black helmet, but I haven't seen a published image yet.   Not sure that the white pants have a stripe on them.

To get away from the uniforms for a second (sigh of relief) this is just a terrible, uninspired roundel.  The only interesting part is the quadrant with the stars, and that just makes me think of Tennessee, not DC.

It's like someone was wearing a hat with the stickers still on it, and the designer saw it and had an epiphany.   Take this and divide each of the top and bottom to make it into quadrants.

One of the main things I dislike about new branding from teams, is the lack of a logo that fits with the teams’ name. Name: Commanders. Logo: lame modern W. I don’t like it. I’m fine with the name, but it took 2 years to come up with this logo? Bad.

They're in a division with the Giants, whose logo also doesn't fit the team name.   The 49ers helmet logo is the team name.  Washington made sure this logo could not be remotely construed as offensive to any group TBD.    Jason Wright is leaving things like a mascot and fight song  to the fans to come up with because they couldn't figure it out themselves in two years.

Is that official? They got the seasons wrong for 83, 88, and 92. Technically that's the calendar year when they won those Super Bowls, but the accepted practice is go by the year the majority of the season happened. This right now is still the 2021 NFL season even though it's 2022. The Bengals or Rams will be the champions of 2021.

They tweeted it and already have merchandise with it.  Midget Dan had it on the back of the jackets they were wearing.  If you're going to use it, reverse the gold and white.

  12. As a fan since the 70s, my thoughts are still disjointed as this terrible look.  The team is burgundy and gold,  period.  Hate BFBS.   The "W" on the front of the black helmet is a "L."  Washington Falcons colors on the away jersey.   Two years into this and they're still making it up as they're going along.  No mascot or fight song - the fans will help  come up with all that.
