  1. It is ridiculously punitive. Good news is now that it’s :censored:ed the Chiefs, it’ll change.
  2. Top image is in the Superdome, bottom one is in the practice facility.
  3. Helluva coach. My school has 2-3 more rings if not for him, but couldn’t help but admire him. What potentially awful timing. Kiffin has just got a hell of a transfer class for Ole Miss. Lanning has said Oregon will be his last job, and he did sound legitimately sick over moving his young family from Georgia to Oregon just two years ago. Bama’s DC just retired and their OC sucks. I doubt Saban would be doing this without a replacement in mind, though. Got a bad feeling it’s Glenn Schumann, but if we can raid their roster, then that’s a fair trade.
  4. YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!! GO BLUE!!!!!!!
  5. I've been against auto-bids in the 4-team format, but scrapping conference divisions and the generous number of at-large spots in the 12-team playoff have warmed me to the idea. This sport desperately needs an objective criteria that at the very least cannot exclude an undefeated team. That's finally been accomplished. It'll be interesting to see how conference championship games play into the committee's considerations going forward. I maintain that a team is better off finishing third in the B1G or SEC and avoiding the game altogether. You still get a bye and the "penalty" is a home playoff game. Alternatively, you lose the conference championship game, and are potentially eliminated.
  6. What do you mean by realistic? It's a very equitable proposal that certainly gives opportunities to teams that don't really have them today, it preserves regionality, and it looks like most rivalries could be preserved. 10-team conferences also leaves a lot of room for quality OOC games. Sounds great. Unfortunately, that's exactly what college football has been moving away from. The geographic footprints of conferences is past the point of absurdity, century-old rivalries are being trashed, and power is assimilating rather than being shared. If the entire sport started from scratch tomorrow, we wouldn't get anything resembling that 8-conference arrangement. We'd get a B1G+SEC+ND+FSU Super League, and the bottom half of the B1G and SEC would honestly be very lucky to be included. It's headed that way anyway unless one of the new P2 conferences ends up having some self-restraint. Anyways, about today! My alma mater just capped a 13-1 season and won the Orange Bowl by 60 :censored:ing points. I appreciate that FSU got royally screwed out of a playoff bid, but that was a stunning lack of pride.
  7. I haven’t pulled against Georgia since my primary rooting interest was Mark Richt being fired, but I wouldn’t give a damn if we lost to FSU. I hope the AP votes them #1 no matter what happens in the playoff. Why it was absolutely imperative that Alabama be included, who can say. Are they really that big of a draw? I always had the impression that everyone was pretty well sick of them.
  8. Lovely that James Harden did exactly nothing for Philly and they honored his trade demand, while Portland couldn't be bothered with what Damian Lillard wanted.
  9. I wish MSU had refused to play UM for the hilarity of it. Duck a sure loss and make this seem like a five-alarm fire that the NCAA had to move on before every other opponent followed suit. For once, I'd like to see the people that broke the rules be the ones that face the consequences. Someone always makes a colossal mess and skips town, and it's the successor that has to deal with it. I wouldn't even care if the penalties were minimal (relative to the severity of the infractions) if they were assessed to the actual guilty parties. Do a postseason ban starting now. I've met all of 2 Michigan fans in my life, so can't speak to the general attitude of that fanbase. However, I almost always feel bad for people who love their school, pour themselves into it, and get :censored: on in return. Also just lmfao:
  10. I'm sure the answer is something to do with taxes, but what is the point of this? The Heat's owner is the chairman of Carnival, so he's just writing himself a check?
  11. Congrats to the Nuggets and their fans. It’s always strange to walk away from a series without feeling one bit of ill will towards the opposing team, but that’s how I’ll remember this Finals. The Heat played out of their minds to get to this point, but didn’t seem to have anything left. Jimmy especially.
  12. For the past ten years, my only sincere hope for the Heat’s playoff appearances are to not be embarrassed. At some point, I’m gonna buy in and raise those expectations. What a 3Q! also :censored: YouTube TV. What a joke tonight.
  13. At least since 1984, when the Playoffs expanded to 16 teams, no. This is the first time that's happened. An 8 seed has beaten a 1 only 5 times before this year: 1994, 1999, 2007, 2011, and 2012. In none of those years did a 7 seed also advance.
  14. Last year, someone with the school clarified that the version with the CFP logo can only be used in applications where it’s specifically licensed by the manufacturer of whatever item. It’s on Nike merch for sure, but other items are hit and miss. The state outline in a football is the generic trade out they make when the CFP rights aren’t held. Agreed, though. The gold really pops on the version it’s included on.
  15. As far as I can tell, having the schools design a logo started with the BCS NCG in 2006. Almost all of them have obvious references to the location of the game. The only exceptions are Auburn's (by far the worst one) and Ohio State's (unless the shield means something). I like the references to the city/region or stadium. Really don't care for skylines, though. They're hardly ever well known enough to be identified without someone pointing it out first. The only ones I could honestly pick out are Seattle, NYC, Dallas, and Atlanta. Excited to see what UGA comes up with for Houston next year
  16. UGA went back and designed logos for every championship team. Love every one of them.
  17. The Colts logo was clearly visible during last year’s game, so they very well leave the end zones tinted blue tonight.
  18. Pretty sure the locations of those games aren’t locked in yet. If Damar can play, I wouldn’t be surprised if they make CIN @ BUF the first prime time game of the season. EDIT: Nvm, it is East @ North. That exact match-up in the same stadium might be too on the nose and gross for even the NFL. On the AFCCG … I’d choose playing in neutral dome over home field advantage if said field was frozen solid in a -10*F wind chill 100 times out of 100.
  19. Now THAT is how the NY6 patches should look. Good on the sponsor for letting it go.
  20. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS!!!! WHAT HAPPENED?!?! -22 line to a 25-point loss. Please let their dream season end in the Citrus Bowl.
  21. I’m sure it’s impossible, but I’ve always thought the college football playoff should have a dynamic number of teams every season, and only teams with a claim at #1 should be invited. It blows my mind that everyone sneers at all the cash grabs in this sport except playoff expansion. They got three things very right in having home games for round one, first-round byes, and excluding auto bids. But a 17 game season? Pay these players. Obviously the committee rankings from 5-12 would have looked different if they had any significance, but it was still fun to click back through the years and see what kind of match ups might have taken place. Georgia would have hosted playoff games against Penn State (2018) and Auburn (2019) and visited Cincinnati (2020) by now, and that’s really what sold me on this whole thing.
