The minor league baseball team in Salt Lake was the Buzz before changing to the Bees. IIRC they had to change due to something with Georgia Tech

I owe you an apology, new Bees. I wasn't really familiar with your former name.

  2. Each time I flipped to that Heat Culture game last night, I thought there was a terrible glare from the arena lights on the floor. But it was just the gradient painted inside the key tricking my eyes in a bad/distracting way.

  3. You can choose to look at it as a thinly veiled ad for a casino, or you can look at it as a deliberate decision to highlight the tribe instead of just its casino.

Just as you can choose to look at Climate Pledge Arena as a thinly veiled ad for Amazon, or you can look at it as a deliberate decision to highlight the environmental initiative instead of the corporation.

Just as you can choose to look at the Kraken Community Iceplex (training facility and admin offices) as a thinly veiled ad for the title sponsor Starbucks, or you can look at it as a deliberate decision to highlight Starbucks 'Community Stores' program instead of the whole of the corporation.

Would I personally prefer to eschew ad patches and corporate naming rights entirely?  Absolutely.  Does it feel kinda like the lesser of multiple evils, especially in the case of Amazon and Starbucks?  Yeah.  But again, if you're going to fill ad space, at least the Kraken have been consistent in their decisions - and in their appeals to my optimism!

The Kraken have an interesting conundrum coming up. I love the reverse retro which is primarily ice blue. But! I think we can all agree the Kraken need a light blue third that features the anchor logo and the standard striping pattern. But they have two blues to choose from:

Personally I LOVE shadow blue. Just a beautiful color. Plus as an added bonus it would allow the team to more easily keep the current striping pattern since the top stripe is already ice blue. It might look awkward to have ice blue bleed transition into more ice blue, and the Kraken have the unique position of avoiding white on the home sweater. But the RR already proves ice blue looks great on a sweater.

It’s a big favor to ask, but I wonder if someone could mock up a Kraken third in both colors to see which one looks better. I have to believe we will see a third soon because the Kraken have so far sold every iteration of sweater like hot cakes.

I am a total sucker for the Kraken's Ice Blue, so have wondered similar things in anticipation of a third jersey likely coming next year.

Not to be taken as a leak or hint, but his rugby shirt from Adidas shows one possible stripe treatment on an ice blue base.  It feels like a different stripe, but it pretty much just swaps ice blue in for the navy (nay deep sea blue) on either side so the top stripe disappears.  The widths of each stripe are probably in different proportions too, but you get the idea.

If going this route, it might look good to keep a thin navy stripe underneath to sandwich the red, like on the jersey hems?

  5. The helmet is the only place where the stenciled logo is applied in a stenciled kind of way (even though a W doesn't necessarily need to be stenciled with those breaks). The outline/background used on the logo elsewhere, and on the numbers, makes zero sense and just  makes it look like a poorly drawn 3D letter  - or origami as others have said.

TruColor says "Boundless Blue," the slate one, is only a supporting color, and the sweaters only seem to have three shades of blue.  And nope, not just you, Seattle's color scheme actually feels more like navy/mint to me, which is great, because it feels marine and Pacific Northwestern without being close to what the Canucks are doing. The hex value for "Ice Blue" places it right around 180 on the hue scale, right in the heart of the cyan space, so it certainly is leaning toward green. It still looks greener than that on a lot of real-life applications, so maybe they've tweaked it since.

When the branding was first released, the Boundless Blue color was only applied as an accent to the Deep Sea Blue when appearing on light backgrounds.  So basically just as the accent color on the anchor logo and wordmark, when on white or Ice Blue. It was originally mocked up that way on the shoulder patch for the away sweaters.

But upon the release of the actual sweaters, both retail and on-ice, the accent color on that shoulder patch was instead the Shadow Blue color which is also used in the sleeve striping and number outlines. It still provides enough contrast against a white background, and ties into the other elements, so I'm for it.

The Boundless Blue is still being used on print materials and on merchandise as an accent to the Deep Sea Blue.

Also of note is that they are being very intentional about limiting the use of their Red Alert color, and it is never allowed to be used as the main color on any print materials or merchandise. So while I've seen some folks on the internets wondering about a potential red third in the future, it ain't gonna happen.

I liked this sweater. Wondering if the Jets want to phase out the aviator blue with the Kraken entering the league and emphasizing a color scheme of dark navy, icy blue etc.

I've seen the Kraken colors closely compared to Winnipeg on here, especially right when it was released. I was kind of worried about it, too, tbh.  But they're really not all that similar. Check out the Kraken and Jets draft hats to compare the colors. It's like saying Avs and Blue  Jackets share a color scheme.

Even if they were more similar shades, I doubt Winnipeg would be taking the Kraken into account when making uniform decisions.

Well surprise surprise. NFL and Nike will debut city inspired uniforms but only for the following teams this year. If it’s a success, don’t be surprised to see it roll out for all 32 teams.

    Rams

    Bears

    Jets

    Browns

    Texans

    9ers

Also I’ve heard that the one helmet rule is gone but there was no announcement because the NFL wants it to be a surprise.

I do not give a bleep if you doubt me and to my loving admirers I expect to be apologized to when Bezos buys the Broncos in July.

More like Justlingeringforlongerthananyoneasked, am I right?

I'd call that less 'interesting' than missing the point - that doesn't address the lack of colors in the uniform.

I get the point, and I agree with the point.  It wasn't a 'gotcha' post.  What I find interesting is that they've actually outlined the numbers, but done so with the most lifeless option available to them in each case.  Get some teal or gold onto those jerseys!

I have no problem with single layer numbers, but given (I think it's a given) that the Jaguars are too lacking in color, an outlined number would be good there, IMO.

The interesting thing is that the current Jags do have outlined numbers... they're all just outlined in the same color as the jersey.  Do you, Jags.

Hate how they look green on TV now. Would look great for South Florida, but they need to go back to the true gold, in my opinion

How is the current ND helmet not true gold? From where I'm sitting, it's the truest gold in sports. And it's now much more representative of the Golden Dome from which it draws inspiration.

Are you referring to the actual gold flecked paint from their previous helmets? Because these still have gold in the paint, but this application doesn't have to be re-painted every week (which is enough to make me love this current helmet, as someone who used to be a part of that weekly re-painting. It always made for a fun fact, but a decidedly unfun process.)

  12. It also seemed like maybe the lighter orange I was seeing on some players' pants stripes was due to the stretching of the pants. The material Nike uses for those stripes can start to look a little lighter the more they are stretched. It's not like the thicker knit stripes of yesteryear.

Is it just me, or does the orange on Clemson's pants not match the orange on the helmet or jersey at all? Maybe the lack of purple next to it is messing with my eyes.

I was trying to figure this out as well. I told myself it was just because it didn't have any purple to separate it from the white, but the more I looked at the pants stripes they really seemed more like a Tennessee Volunteer shade of orange.

It doesnt matter if its an alternate uniform, orange and green trim or they have a white helmet. I'm just stating they're similiar and finally I dont care if they are, READ my last sentence in my last post!!

All this DEFENSIVENESS isn't a good look. I don't see anyone challenging whether or not you're dissing the uniforms. They are simply disagreeing with the assertion, which you seem to be presenting as fact, that the uniforms are so similar. And I tend to agree. Yeah they share some colors and a pointy leg stripe, but I really don't look at the Dragons uniforms and think Broncos.

But I do wish the Dragons would stick with green and orange, with blue to accent. It's weird to see all of their in stadium signage with zero blue, and then the team wearing all blue. I much prefer their away uniforms, and they seem more in line with the rest of the branding.
