  1. I instinctively root against any player wearing the pajama pants.
  2. In my opinion and experience, double outlines are a misguided attempt to give an existing look a better feel. Similar to the mistake of adding a random black outline to something and thinking it is an improvement. Generally when designers feel the need to add these things there is some other underlying problem with the design that needs addressing. In the Mariners' case, I think it was change for change's sake rather than changing for the better. But, we see this mistake made everywhere.
  3. That set always looked to me like something I would have doodled with a Sharpie over the non-black Lions uni.
  4. I can't see that logo and not think cheesy Disney movie. Not something I think professional teams and their players would aspire to.
  5. The problem, especially with a look as busy as the Bengals (with the stripes, orange/black), is it's just too much going on. A basic numeral font and simple outline (no drop shadow) compliments the design rather than competing with it.
  6. I love soccer kits and clash kits. Some clash kits are great while others are horrible. But, I love the flexibility and opportunity they give to explore new solutions. And, soccer jerseys with collars are especially nice since men in their 40s-50s can wear them to support their team without looking like they are trying to be a kid wearing a football, basketball, or baseball jersey.
  7. Would be a cool look (hot pink / black) for the new MLS Miami team if it ever happens.
  8. I have a friend with the same opinion. After the SB last night he said, "at least Julio has a real championships from Alabama"
  9. I'd actually remove the yellow pin stripe from the collar and the edge of the sleeve. Just one stripe in each area. And pair it with white pants (with either a thin yellow, or brown, or brown/yellow/brown pin stripe going down the side).
  10. I see the paint brush motif being more for applications (posters, signage, advertisements, etc.) than for the actual logo or uniform. As it is, drives me nuts that they have the clean, typed out NEW ENGLAND and TM mixed with the brush strokes.
  11. Normal block numerals would go a long way in making this nice.
  12. As much as I hate the faux Sonics, I think this would have been a much better name/look for them.
  13. This would look even better if the keys were white with black outlines.
  14. Also remember that the last year the team wore royal/yellow as their primary they won their one and only Super Bowl. That's one HUGE reason why royal/yellow is superior.
  15. Navy/Gold = St. Louis Royal/Yellow = Los Angeles
  16. Yes, I don't get the love for the Rams navy/white. To me the Los Angeles Rams are royal/yellow, end of story.
  17. Huskies would be undefeated and ranked #2 right now were it not for those horrible black uniforms.
  18. I think these were the best they've ever looked. Just a tad bit of the navy/black but 99% powder/yellow.
  19. Those are the best of the current set but numerals are dated. Bad.
  20. I agree. The orange stripes pop off the navy in a way that navy stripes on orange just can't. Navy should be their primary and they can wear the orange as an alt 2 times a year. That would be perfect.
  21. I agree that in a vacuum, side by side, the new logo is a much better crafted piece. It seems we may just disagree as to the value of the historical aesthetic of the original logo. And believe me, I've just recently started to have this opinion so it could flip flop back again too.
  22. Yes, I'd say the eye for sure, and the upcurve on the tail (upper left) and italicizing of the whole form are all what I think are "cookie cutter" aspects.
  23. I'd argue that a big problem with professional sports in general is that all the logos are looking too similar. Well rendered but homogeneous. Sure it could be refined a bit but I love that it looks authentic and not like every other new logo out there.
  24. It's based on a traditional Pacific Northwest totem pole motif.
