Chris Judd played only 1 game for East Perth in the WAFL in 2002, before his 14 year career in the AFL with West Coast and Carlton between 2002 and 2015.

 

Andrew Balkwill played one game for Carlton in the AFL, back in Round 3 of the 1997 season. He has the unique distinction of being the only player in Carlton history to have played senior VFL/AFL football without donning the famed Old Dark Navy Blue jersey, as this was the only game where Carlton wore light blue as part of a sponsorship deal with M&M chocolates.

After 307 games and 4 premierships (2008, 2013, 2014, 2015) in 15 seasons for the Hawthorn Hawks between 2002 and 2016, Sam Mitchell will be playing for the West Coast Eagles in the 2017 Australian Football League season. Another recruit for the West Coast for 2017 is Drew Petrie, who played 316 games in 16 seasons for North Melbourne between 2001 and 2016. This is the first time in AFL history that a club has had two new recruits in the same season who played over 300 games each at another club.

Clive Allen was bought by Arsenal from QPR after the 1979-80 season, but his only games in the Arsenal shirt were three pre-season friendlies prior to the start of the 1980-81 season - he never played a competitive game for the Gunners.

Prior to his short NFL stint and playing with the Titans, Hayne had played 176 games in the NRL with the Parramatta Eels between 2006-2014, so both the 49ers and Titans uniforms could be considered the "wrong" uniform.

After 230 games for St Kilda in the AFL between 1987 and 1998, Nicky Winmar played 21 games for the Western Bulldogs in 1999 before retiring.

Gary Ablett Sr was a superstar in the VFL/AFL with Geelong, playing 242 games and kicking 1021 goals between 1984 and 1997, but he made his VFL debut with Hawthorn in 1982, playing only 6 games and kicking 9 goals. Here is his footy card from 1982:

Argentine international Osvaldo Ardiles was contracted to Tottenham Hotspur when the Falklands War between England and Argentina started in 1982.

He spent some of the 1982-83 season with French side Paris Saint-Germain, playing 14 games before returning to Spurs after the political situation between the two countries had settled down.

in between a very successful rugby league (2007-2010) and rugby union (2013-present) career, Israel Folau had a short-lived career with the Greater Western Sydney Giants of the Australian Football League in 2012, playing only 12 games in the season and kicking 2 goals.

Tony Armas played only four games for the Pirates in September 1976, before playing for the A's (1977-82), Red Sox (1983-86) and the Angels (1987-1989).
