  1. I'm the opposite where I loved the new control scheme so much I wish I had a chance to get that Trilogy package that had 1 and 2 with Wii controls. That said, Super Metroid for the SNES is in the top 5 of my favorite games of all time.
  2. This is so nerdy and I love it. Metroid Prime and it’s two sequels were such fantastic games!
  3. i really like your Warriors concept. Nice blend of eras, there. I like the idea of the Clippers concept and the elements you used, but I think put together, it's a bit too busy. I look at the ship and the ball logo and there's just lines everywhere. The ship by itself looks clean, and I understand the reason why you put the ball behind it for the primary. I think it could use a little tweaking and could really get there.
  4. These two, I am ALL about. And for the record, I love the new Navy alternates, even with the white helmet. The navy bolt is a nice nod to the very first helmet design). But yeah, if the NFL ever allows for a second helmet color, either of these two would be super slick.
  5. Yeah, I've been enjoying this thread and his designs, but having been a moderator in another forum before, antagonizing and cursing out mods are crossing the line, no matter how popular you are. That said, I hope you are flexing your creative muscle during your time-out. Looking forward to more of your concepts!
  6. I'm in full agreement that the logo in itself isn't bad but the execution is a complete fail. Your tweaks made the logo so much better. The horn looks 100x better, and the outlining of the L in LA makes it pop better as well. And yes, the ram head looks better like that, too. That shading is so much better than the segment and gradient on both the logo and the head. Nice job! LA Rams organization, take notice of this!
  7. That looks really nice! Great work! I really like how you incorporated the bolt in the horse. I'm curious as to how the bolt in your design would look if it had the powder blue outline like the official one does. Not saying as a suggestion, just as a curiosity.
  8. speaking of minimalist design being awesome: Konami's box art in it's NES games were pretty boss. Speaking of buff dudes in loincloths, the box art for Wizards and Warriors and it's sequel were bad ass, but it was funny that the character you played was a dude fully decked out in armor. That looks nothing like Fabio!
  9. I actually would love the Otters. I get why not Seals, since there was the California team in the 70s. Orcas, I'd love, but Vancouver has an orca in their logo, already. And then of course every other person would then complain "Orcas doesn't sound as intimidating as Killer Whales!"
  10. I actually never played this game, but it's the first thing I think of when "bad game box art" comes to mind. Mega Man 2's might have been bad, but Mega Man 1's is atrocious. although I gotta say I love that they went back to the atrociousness when they made Mega Man 9 and 10's box art I always hated that Japan got this: and us kids in the US got this:
  11. In addition to giving homage to Prince with the two-toned purple, there's a connection to the Vikings with the gold (and Prince, too, since gold was a color he wore a lot). These have been fantastic! My favorites so far are the Angels, the teal and pink Marlins and the peaches and cream Braves. Can't wait to see more!
  12. WHAT THE WHAT?!?!? That's amaze-balls, Sparky! NHL Seattle, HIRE THIS MAN, NOW!
  13. I want to mention one thing about this Kraken comes from Scandinavia so it doesn't mean anything to Seattle business. There's a strong Scandinavian community and history in Seattle, with immigrants that came during the 19th and early 20th century. Here is the Seattle tourist website that showcases this, and points out the museums and festivals that they have. https://visitseattle.org/things-to-do/arts-culture/cultural-heritage/nordic/
  14. These are wicked good. The whole set so far. There’s not a bad one in the bunch. As a Lakers fan, I love the ridiculousness of that concept. My favorites so far are Toronto, Orlando, Indiana, Denver, and Sacramento, for some truly original ideas but staying within the brand in a strong way. I also love your take on the Suns with those colors (I agree with the comment about the mountains needing to be sharper), and I love the Hawks one, but think you should go back to the ridiculous Volt coloring. The blue and green one actually is way more aesthetically pleasing, and actually complements the piping better, but as the other commenter says, the volt one is just SO NBA 2020 that even though it doesn’t look as good, it’s actually more perfect, lol. oh, the Clippers one is great, and works in all of those colors (lol, the black one’s font) but for whatever reason, I think the nautical flags would work better either on just one side of the shorts, or a wider stripe. And, I love love love the Golden State idea. I’m wondering though if you matched the colors even more to the flag how that would look? Like with the text in black, and the number in a two tone brown like the bear. (The green grass patch would be fun but I know that won’t work). Too bad the Nike logo has to be where it is, since the red star there would be fun, but I guess the Swoosh is the star for the purpose of this design.
  15. Great concept, and you’re 90% there, IMO. I love the WA in the feathers. Subtle, but once you see it you can’t unsee it, and that’s a good thing. A few tweaks like the suggestions above (particularly white in the hair for depth, and maybe the length of the feathers) could make it quite perfect!
  16. Well hot dang, I love your new direction for the Evergeens concept. That just shot it up to my top tier of your concepts. I love love love the S logo, especially with your explanation of the old school felt stitching and such - I do agree at times it looks like a 5, but with the hockey sticks on your apparel graphic, there’s no mistaking it. The script logo is great, too. I wasn’t a huge fan of the two tones of green concept before, but it’s grown on me and I’m liking it way more now. It’s weird - it think a touch of yellow or yellow/maroon would make it visually even better (and a nod to the Sonics and Storm) but just having the two greens and white definitely gives it a more unique identity. (btw, I think the Stars should make their new stadium series logo their permanent logo, but that’s just me) Love that you incorporated your fantastic sea lion logo in to your Pilots concept. And the new S logo is really nice on that too. I also like the redesign on the logos for the Kraken (and that line that emphasizes the long A is a nice touch. Now I can’t say “Crack-en” anymore, lol). I do miss the taking out of the red elements though, but it’s all good. BTW, Fremont Brewing’s Sky Kraken is a delicious beer. It’s in regular rotation in my refrigerator. Great work as always, Sparky!
  17. It's been a few months since I looked at this thread, and holy snap, the work you've put in to it has been awesome! I live in Seattle and would love to see a few of these be our eventual NHL logo and uniform. That said, here are my two cents on each of these: TOP TIER: Metropolitans: I love the whole package. It's a great look and everything. I generally don't like logos that are the first letter of the team name rather than the city name (like, I hate the Cincinnati Bengals using "B" instead of "C", although the Avs and old North Stars get a pass for being awesome logos) but this is a great look. I love that it's the 1917 championship team, I love the Art Deco style to it as well. Kraken: This one is my favorite. Especially the most current version of it. I even love the "K" even though I'd rather see an S on the shoulder. The presentation is awesome, it's the most fun (especially for merchandising and marketing to families), and I would easily wear that stupid kraken head hat. I pronounce it "Crack-En", and so should you. :P Sea Lions: I used to not like this one, but all the changes have grown on me to the point where it's in my top tier now. The design is beautiful, the colors are great, and it's very cohesive. Totems: This was one where I liked that idea, but didn't like the execution at first, but when you changed the primary logo and colors, it blew my mind how good that was. It's gorgeous. B+ TEAM: Pilots: I really like the idea of the Pilots, and I think the package is really good, I'm glad you abandoned the bomber jacket brown and went with the "Sea & Air Pilot" direction. Not a big fan of the "P" logo. With the Sea Lions logo in it's place or as the primary logo like you just played with, that would move it to Top Tier. Yeah, your Sea Lions logo is that damn good. Sockeyes: This is one where I like the idea, the concept, and the colors, but I think it could be improved on. I love that you're going with the Salish style art, it just seems to need something little extra to go from really like to love for me. I don't know exactly what it is, though. There is so much on this that works, though, and it could very well easily become a Top Tier. LOWER TIER: Steelheads: I like that you incorporated the city flag colors and used the S on that flag as inspiration, but for whatever reason, this one doesn't do a lot for me. It may be that the colors don't register as well on the uniform in that graphic for my tastes, even though I think the color is a nice color. I'm also one of the few people up here I know that don't like the Steelheads name, despite it's local importance, alliteration, and such. Sawbucks/Stags: The design is gorgeous, the logo is beautiful, and the uniforms look great, but the mascot does nothing for me. Sorry. :( Evergreens: Love the name and the squirrel, unexcited about the all-green unit, and really don't like the logo. Sorry. :( NOPE: Emeralds: Love the frog, don't like the E. Don't like the name. Nor'Westerners: The NW logo is pretty awesome - design wise but not what I'm looking for in a Seattle team. I like the ideas of plaid, native, and water in the package, but the primary logo and the name especially doesn't do anything for me. I don't want to end this on a down note, so I will reiterate how much I've loved watching this process unfold and continue. Your work is astounding, and the first 4-6 on this list I would easily root for and proudly wear their colors (except when they play the LA Kings).
  18. These are much better than what they put out last week. Good work!
  19. I'd split the difference and do what they do in Seattle - San Diego Sockers SC. That way they could be the Sockers but have some kind of differentiation from the indoor team. Also, since those 13 stars on the crest are for indoor soccer championships, I think it would be wrong to have an outdoor MLS team co-op that.
  20. I really like this. If the San Diego ever did get an MLS team, I would be more than happy with them adopting this logo and uni set.
  21. Wow. I remember the Aces concept you did a while back, and it had been a while since I went to this forum. And today I just went through your entire thought and design process of the Black Knights that you've done over the last 15-16 months. I'm amazed! The final concepts you ended up sending in are stellar. I have one big comment though. It's regarding your reluctance to use black as the primary color of the home jersey. I totally understand your reasoning behind it - I understood it when you did the Aces as well. You didn't want to because of the proximity to the LA Kings. But here's the thing... It didn't stop the Anaheim Ducks from using a black jersey. Funny thing is, before Foley announced his colors, you had Black/Gold/Red as your colors and I couldn't help but think, "Anahaim uses Black/Gold/Orange as theirs". Granted, thematically Ducks is much further away from Black Knights then Kings is. But I couldn't get that out of my head. When Foley announced the colors and you were forced to tone down the red, it really helped to step away from Anaheim's colors. I'm actually surprised I didn't see anyone mention the Ducks throughout the whole thread (or maybe they did and I missed it). Regardless, I actually think your dark grey idea is superb, and Foley would be really smart to go that direction instead of having yet a third black-jersey team in the West. (Let's just thank the heavens that San Jose uses black as a secondary color instead of as a primary. ) In addition, the whole presentation is awesome. I also love the black alt jersey with the diagonal script - it reminds me of the Penguins black diagonal Pittsburgh script jersey from 1992 that I really liked back then. Also, I really dig what the war horse ended up being in your proposal, with the LVK bridle. Anyway, reading this entire thread and seeing the evolution of your design and its eventual amazing conclusion was a lot of fun and really made my day. That presentation is also really slick. Great job and good luck with the proposal - I hope yours gets chosen. It really does kick ass!
