  1. It is a little bit of "inflation" from the money the USA spent to get the 1996 and 2002 Olympics. We were paying college tuition, getting tickets to the Super Bowl and The Oscars in addition to cash.As for the USA just outspending the other bidders, Eddie Snowden gave the rest of the world issues to worry about regarding how we monitor everyone in terms of surveillance. That's kind of an issue for those whose world revolves around seediness. Please don't throw in your political remarks to something fairly irrelevant to the topic. Especially when they're about as off-base as they can get. No, Snowden's relevant in the bidding for international events. We're not exactly popular in a decent chunk of the world. If human rights were considered when choosing a home nation, Qatar would've never won the initial bid in the first place. All that matters is the money in this situation. There's no rational reason behind choosing Qatar in terms of safety. Why should we assume Snowdens leak would have any form of impact on a World Cup bid selection if a country like Qatar had been picked? It's all about the ability to move money and use power, and the United States can do that. I can't imagine Snowdens leaks will have any sort of impact on the ineffective bid committee that comes with World Cup politics.
  2. Id rather see a raised piece of barley instead of a letter.
  3. This I can agree with. That unique barley color jersey is perfect for a team named the Brewers. I'll never understand why people would like to see a return of the yellow, when this is their current option.
  4. And out of all of this, I have yet to see much outrage for a Los Angeles team from fans out of LA.
  5. That looks way too much like the Giants.
  6. Unpopular opinion: I usually hate when the minor league affiliate of a team uses the same name as the major league team. To me, it's a major turnoff as a fan of that team because I see it as if I am rooting for a team that has no meaning but to provide players for the major league team. However, I really do like the new Westchester Knicks name and logo. It's very cool that they modernized a classic logo and used it as a primary logo. Not only that, the name Knicks sounds great with Westchester. I think this is one of the few examples where using the same name as your professional team affiliate works.
  7. All three of those basketball uniforms are just... wonderful.
  8. I hope more teams switch back over to pullovers, but not all of them. I wouldn't mind say 1/3rd of the league wearing them.
  9. A lot of these posts have teams in the state playing in the same division. There's a reason why they don't do that.
  10. As a southerner that's never been farther than Southern ohio in the summer, I feel bad for every city in Canada without an NHL team with disasters like the Panthers and Coyotes.
  11. I think the old Those aren't even underrated. It's like the most popular and well liked ugly uniform out there. Maybe even more than the Creamiscles from the old Bucs. I would say they're just well.. rated. Great uniform and also my favorite.
  12. Unpopular Opinion: The Miami Marlins vs Colorado Rockies uniform matchup will be probably the best uniform matchup all season. Love the orange vs purple. I go a little more in depth on this topic in the MLB thread.
  13. Lets say the decision to move the World cup happens in 2016. Do you think that the nut-jobs over there will really be 'seeking revenge' for a World Cup that was supposed to be there's 6 years ago? I don't think that'll be the case. However, security will be vastly improved compared to this years Super bowl regardless. It's a scary thought but by 2022, who knows what the world will be like? I can only imagine that security for these kind of events will be increased like crazy. Especially with the world cup, a game watched all over the world. The World Cup is already an event that is "ripe" (not sure this is the right word to use) for something like that to happen. But I don't think that what you stated would be a reason for increased security. It's a good thought, but I am not sure the mindset would still be there if it had been taken away so long ago.
  14. Plot Twist: Qatar's arab billionares invent a giant overhang that captures the entire country of Qatar. Qatar's government forces millions of Saudi Arabian slaves to build this giant contraption with extremely low pay. The same billionares funding the war in Afghanistan of the Al-Queida.
  15. When I said US/Canada, I meant both the United States and Canada. While I'd prefer for it to be US only, it wouldn't surprise me if they did a duel world-cup setting. I guess it's more likely that they just remain in the US though.
  16. Looks like Russia and Qatar might be getting axed for different locations. It's as ifthis Brazil chaos hasn't been enough of a wake-up for these FIFAidiots, and both Russia and Qatar will (most likely) be a much higher up-hill battle for both FIFA and the rest of the world to deal with. USA/Canada should host in either 2018 or 2022.
  17. Silver makes the look.I think it muddies up the design. If it were Black/Panther Blue/White it would be a lot cleaner of a look, and the colours would pop a lot more. I also agree. The silver makes it look very Arena Football League.
  18. Says the guy from... Florida? We're a different kind of weird.
  19. If Portland somehow got a team, Reser or Autzen would have to be used. The NFL wouldn't let a 20K stadium fly, even temporarily. I think Portland is pretty far on the list of potential NFL teams regardless. I think people are only assuming Portland because of the Nike ties, but that's a huge reach. Plus, I am not sure Portland fans would even be into an NFL team. Portlandians are some serious weirdos, for better or for worse. I'm not sure their soccer supporters would easily convert into football fans. Must be something in the water. (Offtopic: Anyone ever watch Portlandia? I've heard that their spoof of the people of Portland is actually not to far from their depiction. Funny stuff. . )
  20. Coming from a 17 year old soccer player in the US, older kids are starting to move away from highlighter cleats. Most kids find those to be very "rec league", which is basically the participation league of soccer. Most club kids wear less vibrant colors. In fact, I wear my Puma Kings with pride. Black and white. I am more worried about the durability and material of the boot versus how bright it is. When I was 14 though? I had yellow, neon green, and bright red/yellow. It's a trend dying over here for older kids, however.
  21. I too like the Bucs new uniforms. Not a fan of the number font, however.
  22. Very popular. Especially for MLB and the Padres. Well, if that is the popular opinion, then I guess me heavily disliking brown of all but the darkest shades (such as the Cleveland Browns) as anything other than a secondary/accent color falls under the criteria of this thread. I'm kinda on the same boat. I don't really like the color brown, but I like the uniqueness of it. I like teams that use brown in their color scheme because it's unique, not because I like the color. Not sure what the consensus is on these forums on that or not. Grey on the other hand? Very ugly, very overused, just use white.. please.
  23. Very popular. Especially for MLB and the Padres.
  24. What was first? FSU or Redskins? I thought facepalm memes died in 2009, my bad.
