  1. Drew MacIntyre, goalie for the AHL's Charlotte Checkers is switching to 22. Don't know if a goalie has ever worn that.

Wow. From being "the chosen one" and an Intercontinental champion to being the backup goalie for a minor league team. He's fallen pretty far.

He even went to TNA, *gasp*

  2. I have listened to WLUP on and off my whole life. I like a lot of classic rock, but disliked the few times when the Loop went to a classic rock format and stopped playing anything made after the '80s. I mean, the Beatles are great, but I don't want to hear them (or Buffalo Springfield) on the Loop. I really liked Rock 103.5, and the Loop became my default radio station for a while after they changed formats. I dislike a lot of what they played on Q101, at least the softer stuff which they wouldn't have played on 103.5. And plenty of cynical people dislike Van Halen and claim their music is devoid of substance.

I always listened to either WLUP or The Drive. When I was a youngin' it was Wiil Rock out of Waukesha. Mandatory Metallica Mondays was my thing.

WIIL Rock is out of Kenosha and sucks. Music for high school weight rooms.

Right! Kenosha, sorry for the brain fart. It was back during my Middle School days in the early 00's. Where they played more Classic Hard Rock than contemporary. I don't know what they play now. They took the station from the SW burbs. and put it on an off dial channel.

So to get back on topic: I really like the Rays Fauxbacks. For a team with a "young" history. They have a lot of imagination. In 20 years those rainbow gradients will be a true throwback when they are 40 years old.

  4. Pac-Hawk is right there along with the J-Note as a wonderful secondary that has no business being the primary, especially with their new set. Shoot, the fact that most people read it as something else entirely (which is how it got its nickname) makes it a bad primary logo. There was nothing wrong with keeping the full-bodied hawk (though it does need some cleaning-up, slightly too busy) as the primary, and using the Pac-Hawk (with an outline or two) as the secondary. That's really what secondaries are for, to go on places where a full logo wouldn't work (such as the jersey). As it is, the Hawks now have a logo that totally clashes with their look (and is actually a tad bit too traditional for the original 'Nique set), and is, IMO, the biggest flaw in their set.

Sorry, this is totally off-topic. Okay, the full-bodied hawk and the Pac-Hawk are analogous to the cartoon Raptor and the old ball-n-claw - one was created to be a strong primary, while the other serves as a secondary mark to use in situations where the primary wouldn't fit (such as the jersey, smaller merchandise, etc.). Ideally you'd want something like the Pelicans' logo, which is a little bit of both, but those aren't easy to make. The strong primary/secondary combo is something that works very well for basketball. Something like the Raptors' new logo works better as a primary in another sport, such as football.

    There, that's better. :P

So does that mean, that since the Bulls logo can be flipped and seen as a robot reading a book that, that also makes it a bad logo? People will find an image from anything. The Hawks just did the cool thing and embraced it. It's The Pac-Hawk now and forevermore. It's not hard to tell what it should be, it's just fun to say, "Hey it also looks like this!".

It's a damn good logo, and the newest pac-hawk really lessened on the original stylings which lead to it kinda resembling Pac-man.

  5. The NBA is less of a league now that they've lost a logo of a dribbling dinosaur. Just saying.

    The Toronto Raptors:

Says it all... On what planet is this an upgrade?

On the same planet, where these...

    Are replaced by this:

Had to check if this was the 'Unpopular Opinions' board haha. I think it's pretty unanimous around here that the "Pac-Man" logo is vastly superior to the full-winged Hawk they were using since the '90s. It has so much history to Atlanta, and the work on it is minimalistic. But the best kind, just enough so you can visually make out the target, but not enough to befuddle it up.

  6. I don't think it's a horrible idea at all. Navy pinstriped suits are always in style, and give them kind of a mob element that's kidna cool.

What I don't like is the NY on it. Just the New York wordmark would work better, or a Yankees wordmark (either block, or the script.)

It wouldn't be a terrible look, but having the navy uniform with white pinstripes would contrast with the solid navy hat. Like, imagine the Yankees (or any pinstriped team) wearing a solid white hat with their home jerseys. It would look off, and I don't know that there'd be a way to make it work.

Pair it with the BP hat they currently wear the Grey with Blue bill. Since the Pinstripes are grey.

  7. As I understand it, something like this --

    Yep. With pants to match.

Is it completely wrong to really dig that uniform? Even as a one off alternate, it's pretty. Thing is with the Yankees history it's highly improbable to ever see THAT team wearing anything like that. But if it was a Negro League or Throwback jersey I dig it.

  8. A bonus: every hat worn in Rays history. Since the picture I've added this year's Stars and Stripes, Memorial Day, and all-star cap.

Stay tuned for more, as this evening I plan to show off some hockey and soccer team sets!

Unless my eyes deceive me, I think you're missing some hats here. Some left out BP Hats are sticking out to me.

  9. High School in my area has two "Main Logos", One could be considered an alternate, but they use it for letterheads and some school apparel.

The Football Logo is also very nice.

I wouldn't say the K-State logo is similar too much, the bottom of the Neuqua Football logo is not ever used, so I can't for sure say that they wouldn't have do that styling to it. But the ears are different, regardless the faces are similar. Same with the Boise logo, different highlighting and accentuations.
