  1. Great work on both OKC identities, I’d expect nothing less. I especially love the interlocking “O-K-C” logo. For the 89ers dream catcher logo, I wonder if you could modify the feathers hanging off of it to be shaped more like pennants?

I agree with @itsmb8 that the tornado design for the Twisters could use some work. The black bits actually cause it to look like a very thick, severed tiger tail! I wonder if something a little more abstract could solve the problem, like this:

Side note, those colors would’ve been perfect for the latest Marlins redesign.

@coco1997 - So I finally got around to trying out some baseball seams on the Crescents logo. I tried it a few different ways, but it wound up looking like a softball. And in the configuration below it makes me think of a balding guy with a chinstrap goatee.

Haha! I think it actually works well. My original idea was for you to eliminate the face entirely and have one line of stitching going vertically rather than horizontally across the moon.

Brewers - The yellow jerseys are well done, especially the 72-77 yellow alternate.  Also like the 90-93 blue jersey and the green 94-99 jersey.

Expos - Great job on the Expos.  Both of the red jerseys are surprisingly good.  The blue jersey are also solid.  The Expos actually wore a blue jersey like that as a practice uniform from the late 90s/early 00s but with a red hat.

It took me a while to get through the Mets because while their look has remained fairly consistent since the '60s, they've still made some noticeable changes over the years, adding (and then removing) racing stripes, frequently playing with their road script, and then of course there was that experiment with black in the late '90s-early 2000s that everyone loved.

For the '98-'11 home set, I figured a sleeveless look might have been something the Mets would've experimented with, right in the midst of their BFBS debacle and at the time when sleeveless unis were all the rage around the league. The present day fauxback was inspired by Pete Alonso's recent plea on Twitter for his team to resurrect the black look. Re-coloring the Mets' pullover era racing striped jersey in solid black makes for an interesting combination of eras design.

    C&C appreciated!

I must say I'm glad the Brewers didn't succumb to mix and match syndrome during the double knit era. All of these look great as fan gear, but holy crap do they look awkward as actual uniforms.

Everything looks like it should. I would only suggest that the 1990 unis say Milwaukee instead if it's supposed to be a road alt.

Thanks! I prefer the "Brewers" script from those years, but I get that it would make sense to use "Milwaukee" on the road.

As a Giants fan in my early 30's, I never really paid much attention to the Brewers until they came over to the National League in '98. That said I have an affinity for those navy blue, green and gold sets of the 90's. IMHO, far superior to what they've had the last two decades. But to the point - I really like the green-based alternates. The pseudo Notre Dame vibe makes it feel even more Midwestern.

Thanks! Green is criminally underused throughout MLB so I too wish the Brewers had a green alt during those '94-99 years.

  5. Great to have you back, and what a way to return with the Charlotte Knights! I am very proud of the fact that my Chicago White Sox have some of the best minor-league identities in the league. I really love what you’ve done with them here, although I do have a few nitpicks. One, something seems off about the colors of the front numbers on the home and road jerseys, particularly the white numbers on the road set.

Second, as others have already said, the cap logo is a bit awkward looking. I think the plume hanging off the back of the “C” is the problem. May I offer a few suggestions for alternate C’s?

    spacer.png

or even a “C” based on the Knights’ Hispanic Heritage branding cap:

This concept is just a few small tweaks away from being a perfect identity. Keep up the great work!

Just thought of yet another optional jersey, the infamous "Turn Ahead the Clock" jerseys of 1999.  The following teams did not participate: Cubs, Blue Jays, Rangers, Expos, Astros, Reds, & Dodgers. What would a TATC jersey for those teams would had looked like.  The Yankees, on the other hand, *did* "participate" as George Steinbrenner had a clever response when asked whether or not the team was wearing a TATC jersey, implying that what the Yankees normally wear *were* their future jerseys.  Again, these are optional.

This is definitely something I've thought about doing at some point. Maybe if I feel inspired enough at the end of this project I'll revisit this idea but I won't make any promises right now. It's probably something that would deserve its own thread.

For the 79-89 Red Sox, I pictured that the "BOSTON" script would look similar to your 63-71 Red Sox road concept, though the number font would be changed.  On a side note, I never liked those 80s Red Sox road set as they looked like a poor man's Yankees and the number font didn't match the classic home set.

Here's my take on a '79-89 Boston road set. I don't think I ever realized the Red Sox switched to block numbers for a time:

Just thought of another red jersey that wasn't: The 1979-1985 Indians.  They already wore a navy jersey w/gray pants on the road (79-82 as alternate, 83-85 as primary as the all-gray uniform was scrapped).  The ideal red jersey would be worn at home games.

Good catch. Just to nitpick, it should actually 1978-85.

Another thought on the 80s Cubs.  You could mix the the royal blue road jersey with the home white pinstripes as an alternate home uniform but that wouldn't make any sense.  It would be like if a team wore its gray road jersey (or in some cases powder blue) and wore it at home with the white pants.  It would look stupid.  Then I thought of another idea.  Since red is not an option (despite being a secondary color), how about a powder blue alternate for the 82-89 Cubs.  A powder blue jersey/white pants combo for games at Wrigley sound like a good idea at first. However, it becomes problematic when you consider the Cubs in this combo against the Expos, Phillies (pre-89), Braves (pre-87), and Cardinals (pre-85).  Powder Blue vs Powder Blue (even with the Cubs wearing white pants) is not exactly a great idea for contrast.  Then again, MLB let the Astros wear cream/off-white on the road for over a decade.  So the next best option is to wear the powder blue jersey /white pants combo as a road alternate.

Ok, so a few options for the Cubs. The first one couldn't be more obvious: Just give the '82-89 a traditional gray road uniform:

    CUBS ROAD (1982-89)
    Cubs-1982-89-Road-Gray.png

...This way their blue road jersey becomes their official home/road alt.

The second option is a powder blue alt as you suggested. You're right that it would get confusing seeing it worn against opponents who wore powder blue road unis in the '80s, but on its own merits I think it's a great look:

Not sure if the White Sox still do the "Halfway to St. Paddys" promotion where they change the color of their pinstripes/numbers/scripts from black to green.  Several teams, such as the Reds, Phillies, and Red Sox, wear green versions of their uniforms during spring training but the White Sox promotion happens during the regular season.  I was thinking, what if the White Sox had done Halfway to St. Paddys in say, 1963, 1971, 1976, 1982, or 1987.  This is optional as this is more of a specialty jersey than a true alternate uniform.

To my knowledge the Sox stopped wearing their Halfway to St. Patty's unis a few years ago, which is damn shame because the green pinstripes are a great look. Since the Reds were the first team to wear green in celebration of St. Patty's Day in 1978, I decided to start with the '76-81 Sox. I also added orange for the full Irish flag effect:

WHITE SOX HALFWAY TO ST. PATTY'S DAY ALT (1978-81)

WHITE SOX HALFWAY TO ST. PATTY'S DAY ALT (1987-90)

    White-Sox-1987-90-Halfway-to-St-Patty-s-

Thanks again for your feedback @disman00911 and everyone else! I'll have the Brewers up soon.

  9. AWESOME work on both Sox and Cubs. Your updated Cubs primary logo is fantastic, by the way. The ivy themed set is an idea I’ve always wanted to try but I think you pretty much nailed it.

My only suggestions would be to add a touch of red to the Cubs’ Tradition design to set it apart from the Sox one, and I think the Sox Home Plate jersey would work better as a pullover.

Excellent series! I always wonder how alternate uniforms would had looked like if nearly all teams had them in from the 60s-early 90s. I wonder if you plan to do the 93 expansion teams (Marlins and Rockies). When those teams joined the league, just two other teams wore alternates (Orioles and White Sox each sporting a black alternate jersey) Every other team wore white at home and gray on the road (except the Astros, who wore cream)  By the time the 98 expansion teams (Rays and Diamondbacks) joined the league, alternate jerseys were now in common, with at least half of the league sporting at least one alternate set. I'm assuming that you won't the Rays or Diamondbacks since they each sported several alternate uniforms.

Wow, thanks for the detailed feedback! I will be doing something for the '90s expansion teams, but I will probably post them all together since they will probably all have no more than one or two alts each. I actually do have a few designs planned for the D-Backs but none for Tampa Bay at the moment. I'll also be tackling the teams that no longer exist or relocated (Senators, Pilots and Expos).

Cubs - All the Cubs alternate jerseys you made are incredible!  I wonder what would what an alternate jersey for the Cubs from 82-89 would had looked like since they didn't wear gray or powder blue on the road those years? Maybe a red alternate jersey? (the Rangers from 84-85 actually did that)  Then again, I could see why you chose not to do a red jersey considering who the Cubs' oldest rivals are.

I did try to make a red Cubs jersey work but decided against it for the exact reason you mentioned. Also, the Reds.

You're right that the Tigers' home uniforms don't wear orange, but I always thought a team called the Tigers should wear an orange jersey, and as a rule of thumb bright colored jerseys tend to pair better with plain white or white pinstriped home pants.

I know on the shoulder rainbow uniforms, the Astros had a navy blue stripe down the side of the jersey and the britches.  Other than that, these look great!  I love this series!!

Good catch! I've gone back to my original post and added the stripes. I also realized I forgot to upload the '89-92 road alt, so that's been added, too.

Up next are the Kansas City Royals!

*I decided to design a new Black for Black's Sake style jersey for the Royals mainly because I love the color combo of powder blue and black. I might actually take an old idea I had for a series and fold it into this one and do a new BFBS design for each team going forward.

    C&C appreciated!

Yes!! Exactly what I would like to see, just dont mess with the home unis. Too bad I hate the organization ( another topic besides the uniforms, more about how they trade players), but not for this topic!

This series is going great. Can't wait to see what you do for the New York Mets.

Hey darken the navy hem stripes near the buttons on the Orange Home Alt jersey with the arched Detroit wordmark, like your did with the Orange Home Alt jersey with the scipted Tigers wordmark.

I assume by "navy hem" you're referring to the placket piping?

Let's end the week with America's favorite team, the Houston Astros!

C&C appreciated as always! The Royals will be up next. Trying to decide if I can make a metallic gold set work as one of their '90s alts.
