  1. I think you're really onto something with the flying ball occupying the negative space inside the "R," and I love the idea of the green latticework forming the stitches of the baseball. However, the shape of the "R" looks a little awkward to me. I know you're trying to do something really different, but I can't help but think the ball would work better inside a Colorado "C."
  2. Thanks! Finishing up the week with the St. Louis Stars! ST. LOUIS STARS HOME: ST. LOUIS STARS ROAD: Notes: - The Stars' look is strongly inspired by the 1940s Cardinals and makes use of the Browns' gorgeous 1952-53 road script. - Just like the Cardinals, no alts, and the road is just a gray version of the home set. - The real Stars uniforms changed colors a bit over the years, so I went with a royal blue and red color scheme to distinguish them from the Detroit Stars. C&C appreciated! Another "S" team is up next.
  3. If the A's were relocating to Portland instead of Vegas, light blue would be a nice addition to their green and gold:
  4. Good to hear. I have plenty of navy teams planned for this project, so putting the Bears in royal blue was probably the right call. Also, I told you there would be more teams in this series called the "Giants," so here's #2! ELITE GIANTS HOME: ELITE GIANTS ROAD: ELITE GIANTS HOME ALT: ELITE GIANTS ROAD ALT: Notes: - This one is a fairly straightforward swap of the Orioles' black and orange with black and red. For reference, here's an example of how some of the original Elite Giants uniforms looked, which is not too different from the Orioles'. - The Maryland flag roundel features "Elite Giants Baseball" in place of "Orioles." C&C appreciated! One of my favorite designs in this series is on deck.
  5. That's not bad at all. Short of a full blown redesign (which they desperately need, IMO), just amplifying the yellow like that would go a long way towards distancing the Rays aesthetically from the Yankees and Blue Jays. Side note, the Pirates one looks like retro Penguins colors:
  6. Yeah, I can't understand not liking the O's cartoon bird. If anything, MLB needs *more* whimsical logos like that. It's fun to imagine the kind of logos teams like the Marlins, D-Backs and Rays would have if they came about in the '60s instead of the '90s.
  7. Thanks! Maybe "Halfway to Halloween" should become a thing and the Reds could wear those. Back today with the Orioles! Notes: - @M59 summed up every way in which the O's went wrong with their City Connect set in this post: - My main goal here was to address the biggest criticism of the O's uniforms: a distinct lack of color, namely orange. Therefore, the cap "B" and belt are now orange, as are the newly-added front numbers which make the uniform a little more complete-looking. - A "BIRDLAND" wordmark replaces "BALTIMORE" to give the jerseys some more personality. The wordmark against the grayscale neighborhood mosaic, bordered by orange stripes, is based on the early Orioles sock design that leaked a few months ago. - It's hard to convey in a concept like this one, but my design has the colorful neighborhood patchwork pattern printed on the sleeves themselves rather than inside of them. I appreciate the symbolism Nike was going for, but the only way this works is if every single player on the field rolls up their sleeves and unbuttons their jerseys, which I can't see happening. I also applied the colorful pattern to the pants, replacing the grayscale pattern used on the actual pants. C&C appreciated! The Pirates are due up next.
  8. How do you keep topping yourself?! Oregon and Mississippi are some of your best work yet. LOVE that color scheme for Oregon (and the subtle plaid design gives the jersey a ton of personality) and both teams' cap logos are things of beauty. I think MO is one team that could benefit from some front numbers, maybe in that lighter blue? Your "Carolina" script is just gorgeous, too, especially that swoopy letter "C." Keep up the amazing work!
  9. The Dodgers’ new cap is just their everyday cap with a black bill. Pretty boring.
  10. Four teams in a row with black pants, including two back-to-back in monochrome. I thought Nike were supposed to be marketing geniuses? At least the sleeve design provides a desperately needed pop of color.
  11. God, I hope the real thing is more interesting than this. I know it's a cliched thing to say, but this genuinely does look like something someone could have come up with in five minutes.
  12. I'd swap the home and road alts. The orange gradient would look pretty bad with gray pants in real life, and dark colored alternates tend to be worn on the road, anyway.
  13. If the Dodgers would just promote their Spring Training jersey to regular season alternate, it would immediately become one of my favorite looks in MLB:
  14. Thanks so much! Up today are the Milwaukee Bears: BEARS HOME: BEARS ROAD: BEARS HOME/ROAD ALT: Notes: - For the Bears, I rolled in several elements from the team's uniform history, including raglan style sleeves, colored belt loops and a diamond design on the cap, while substituting royal blue with the Brewers' current navy and gold color palette. - I couldn't decide whether to go with pinstripes or without, so I compromised and went with subtle pins, a la the new Twins' road set. C&C appreciated!
  15. I too prefer your original Rhode Island set (but the rope on the cap in the update is top notch). I’m not convinced the new logo reads as an “RI;” I see the “R” but not the ”I.”
  16. Thanks! Ok, here's what I'd do: Notes: - It should be pretty obvious by now that I'm a big fan of monochrome uniforms, so I wanted to maintain that look for Cincinnati. - It's not the most unique idea in the world, but my redesign adapts the Flag of Cincinnati into a uniform, similar to how the Cubs' Wrigleyville set uses a Chicago flag motif. The cap "C" with leaf crown comes from the flag, as do the three wavy stripes representing the Ohio River on the sleeves and pantlegs. - Inspired by the Reds' primary logo from 1890, I remade the "Cincy" wordmark in Old English lettering, with numbers to match. And here's a black version for comparison's sake: Again, not the most original idea ever, but I think this design would've probably been better received than the one we got. Let me know what you think!
  17. A while back, I was inspired to create a series of MLB x Negro League mashup designs. Unlike @Carolingian Steamroller's fantastic Negro League Teams in the Present Day project, which sought to imagine what NLB teams would like today had they been absorbed into MLB, this series seeks to combine Negro League identities with the aesthetics of the Major League teams with whom they shared (or would eventually share) a city. Without further ado, here are the Miami Giants: MIAMI GIANTS HOME: MIAMI GIANTS ROAD: MIAMI GIANTS HOME ALT: MIAMI GIANTS ROAD ALT: Notes: - My Giants design is heavily influenced by the 1996-99 Florida Marlins, with ocean blue replacing teal and pink/magenta replacing silver. - While the actual Miami Giants allegedly wore black, blue and red, I took a little artistic license and went with a more Miami Vice-centric color scheme. - The scripts come from the Miami Giants fauxback jersey offered by Ebbets Field Flannels. C&C appreciated as always! Another team will be up soon.
  18. Up next are the Reds: Notes: - I don't have too much to say about Cincinnati's new City Connect set, so I'll keep this brief. I think Nike missed the mark with this one, as it does little to nothing to "connect" to the city of Cincinnati nor to the Reds themselves, which is especially sad considering this team has the richest history in MLB. I like to think the mono-black look was subconsciously inspired by these all-navy throwbacks from 1911, but that's probably just wishful thinking. - The most common complaint about the Reds' set is the black wordmark on black jersey, a design choice that's almost always a bad idea. Therefore I've gone with a red wordmark and numbers, done up in the same wavelength line style as the cap logo. I also worked up a version with red pants: C&C appreciated! The (gulp) Orioles are due up next. Might have my work cut out for me with that one.
  19. This is a definite improvement but I think you could still take it a little further. Try working some green into the home, road and home alt. The solution to the home alt is easy--just make the numbers green with silver inserts, basically a reverse of the road alt.
