Attending Game 7 of the 2011 World Series.

    ...

Watching your team win a championship in-person is an incredible experience. If you ever have the chance, buy the tickets.

We had an older thread about this at some point, I swear.  But, no matter; since someone unearthed this, I'll add to the above.

No, I wasn't at that game, but I did watch it on TV from my house in Minneapolis.  It was fantastic to watch the Cards win the Series, of course.

The very next day, I got on a plane to Ft. Lauderdale.  That night, NSC Minnesota (now known as Minnesota United in MLS) was playing in the second leg of the NASL final against the Strikers.  The Stars took a 3-1 first-leg lead into the game and won the Soccer Bowl after a scoreless draw in the pouring rain.  After the game, the players invited those of us who'd made the trip to join them at a bar to celebrate.  Let me tell ya: beer tastes even better when drinking it from a championship trophy.

  2. Top middle or bottom left seem like the best of a bad bunch, though I could get behind the idea of the bottom middle with some tweaked execution.

It's stupid to have "In God We Trust" on the flag

    Yes.  Yes it is.

I’m personally not a huge fan of their USL look, but it served its purpose well enough and I think was distinctive enough to at least be memorable. Their MLS look, otoh, is an absolute train wreck. That’s the biggest issue. Their old look was sort of meh and left a lot of room for improvement, yet is still head and shoulders what they went with for MLS.

I thought you were talking about St. Louis at first, because yeah.

I thought Cincinnati actually improved their crest a lot... it's just that they had a long, long way to go to be good and didn't really reach it.

is there an updated version of this?

I suspect @Gothamite will get around to it.

if you know the St. Louis flag the rivers make a lot of sense

Eh.  Having grown up in the area, I'm very familiar with the flag, and it took quite a bit to see those lines as representing the rivers.

As for the colors: I don't mind the magenta and navy idea... just don't tell me it's red.

(Oh, and complete aside, but I went to a Cerezo Osaka game a few years ago and had a great time.  Also, despite Wikipedia showing it as an old crest, the team website still shows "Cerezo Osaka" on their crest.)
