  1. A lot of what is being done or proposed is part of the typical knee-jerk reactions we often get when a famous person dies. You see it all the time. I may be cynical, but I think there are many examples. I'm not convinced Roy Halladay is a first ballot Hall of Famer if he doesn't die. I'm not convinced Heath Ledger wins Best Actor if he doesn't die. Same thing here with Kobe. While his death is tragic and definitely far too soon, it doesn't mean people should be tripping over themselves to do things. What is Mark Cuban doing announcing such a ridiculous thing the day that Kobe dies? I always try to view these things through the lens of: would you do these things if the person was still alive? If Kobe had lived a long life and died of old age, would the Mavericks or any other team ever retire his number? Probably not, so why would you do it just because he died young? Would there be calls to change the logo to Kobe if this hadn't had happened? I don't recall many people pushing that idea prior to today. People need to take time to let horrible events sink in and give the families the space they need to heal, and then down the line find appropriate ways to honor the dead. Jumping to do things before a funeral is even held comes off more as an act of self-interest or self-promotion rather than real respect.
  2. Story: https://www.olympic.org/news/paris-2024-unveils-new-olympic-and-paralympic-games-emblem Thoughts? Personally I love this. Olympic logos have been generally disappointing for me lately, I like this one quite a lot.
  3. Thoughts? Old: New: Articles: http://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/rotten-tomatoes-rolls-out-a-fresh-logo-and-visual-identity-after-19-years/ https://www.designweek.co.uk/issues/5-11-march-2018/emily-oberman-gives-rotten-tomatoes-first-rebrand-17-years/
  4. The bane of our existence, Stubhub, has a new logo. Thoughts? Old: New:
  5. Just saw this article posted on FanSided a little while ago, and I thought the people of this board might find it interesting. I personally would have liked to have seen my Mets a bit higher than 11, but not too bad. Overall thoughts? http://fansided.com/2015/06/12/mlb-major-league-baseball-uniform-power-rankings/
  6. The stripes ruin it for me. I'll have to see it in person but my initial impression is that they cheapen the overall look.
  7. Agreed. If you could find a way to incorporate a small amount of orange into the home kit I think you'd have a 100% winner. Maybe the away jerseys won't be so bad =/
  8. So this doesn't really count because it didn't actually happen. But I remember watching the World Cup Final this year, and being in disbelief that if Messi had gotten his World Cup victory, he'd do it wearing this kit. Argentina is obviously famous for their white and sky blue striped shirt, and that's what the pictures of him and the rest of the team should show for such a moment. Alas it didn't matter lol
  9. Speaking of, any idea when we might see jerseys with 4 stars, but without the champions patch? I have no idea what the timeframe is for a change like that to be made, maybe you can give some insight on what Spain did in 2010. Is it the kind of thing where in a week we'll start seeing standard German jerseys with 4 stars, or do we need to wait a year or two until the next jersey redesign?
  10. PayPal recently updated their logo. Really not a fan of this one, it looks so incomplete.
  11. Not sure if this is what you were referring to at all, but I also noticed that if you turn the logo upside down, the orange portion of it makes the letter "F" instead. It has perfect symmetry. I don't know if it was intentional, but it seems too perfect not to be.
  12. Fandango recently updated their logo and workmark. I personally think it's a nice clean update that keeps the spirit of the old logo. Thoughts? Old: New:
  13. Thanks for the personal anecdote, it definitely puts my mind more at ease
