Are the Royals using a custom variant of the standard MLB block? I've been trying to replicate it in Illustrator by taking the standard MLB block and making it a bit thicker with outlines, but it's not looking how I'd hope. I have both the standard block and a condensed variant, so it seems like there was a thicker variant that was made.
It's not the standard MLB block that's used by teams like the Mets, Cardinals, and Orioles; as you noted, it's a thicker variant. The Royals' font is similar (but not identical) to the numbers used on the front of the Dodgers' uniforms. To my knowledge the exact typeface is not readily available on the Internet.
Here's how to make a close approximation in Illustrator:
1) Download the Mets font off of Conrad's website.
2) Type out the numbers at 26.5 pt size in Illustrator.
3) Add a .55 pt outer stroke or 1.1 pt regular stroke.
That will get you extremely close to what the Royals use.
Good to know, thanks. My issue was taking the standard MLB block font (the one provided by Conrad), and doing an offset path of about .25'' or so. It made everything look too bloated and not formed properly.
When you say Mets font... isn't that standard MLB block?
I would not recommend using the font labeled "MLB Block 1" on Conrad's website. I'm not sure why, but the number 5 is off in that typeface. I chose to use the Mets font from this link: https://fontsbyconrad.wordpress.com/2014/05/19/mlb-fonts-update-by-conrad/. You could just as easily use a bunch of other teams, the Mets just happen to be the team I chose.

I am looking for a specific vector baseball cap template, which can be seen below.
If anyone has it or knows where to find it, please send me a message or post it here. Thank you very much!

This:

.
If they were to add a red number outlined in blue to the sleeve of that uniform and make the base white, they'd have the perfect look.

100% agree. I can understand the nostalgia associated with the interlocking TC, but the M is miles ahead. Much better consistency with the home "Twins" wordmark. If they made a "Minnesota" wordmark in the same style they would have had their perfect set.

It looks really weird to me seeing Kimbrel without a Braves uniform.

Hi Ren, I've got a request. Could you please update this vintage A's logo:
...in the style of this more-modern A's logo?
If you would, I'd be extremely grateful.

MLB definitely still allows 0 and 00.

Stirrups are a bad look in baseball. They're not as horrible as the pajama pants, but the solid socks are the best by far.
-
The gold dropshadow works for the Giants.
The Twins, Royals, and Rockies should all rebrand.
The Braves should ditch the tomahawk.
Not sure how unpopular this is, but it would be good for the White Sox to get rid of silver and go to strictly black and white.
-
Isn't that the same as the patch on their blue jerseys?
I believe it is the same logo.

The graphic on the current Mets BP cap.

For baseball uniforms, I think high socks are a better look than stirrups. I just don't get the point of having a little white showing at the bottom. MLB usually have plenty of a neutral color (white, gray, cream, etc.) displayed on the jerseys and pants; there's no need to add more.

I use to think this was a popular opinion, but now that I've read some of the posts here, I'm not so sure...
The Phillies have a great logo set and very good uniforms that are a few tweaks away from being fantastic.

It is perfectly acceptable for an MLB team to use a gray script or outline on a road alternate uniform.
Acceptable? Yes.
Does it look good? Well...
LOL. Personally, I think that Mets jersey could be improved if it was an orange script w/ a gray outline, but it's the only uni in the MLB that came to mind that demonstrates my point. Really, though, I don't think it's too bad as-is, but I recognize that's an unpopular opinion.

Is there a good technique for recoloring logos while retaining antialiasing? Should I just use masks in the same way you described above?
Thank you very much!

The Astros' whole uniform set is pretty damn good. Not perfect, but overall solid.
