I may be reading too much into the similarities of the classic Star Wars font and that used in MLS4THELOU's recent branding reveal tease, but the NPSL / NASL St. Louis Stars did play their final season in 1977... the same year that Star Wars debuted in cinemas.

Would the new St. Louis MLS franchise follow in the branding footsteps of their brethren in San Jose, Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver by resurrecting a North American Soccer League moniker?

The only name I’ve liked so far is Olympique but that’s almost impossible due to the IOC. As for the colors, the best way they can use the city colors would be like the original red trim Blues. Blue and yellow with a touch of red is a bit similar to that Rapids Colorado flag away kit but they’ve pushed the city flag so hard I can’t see them abandoning it.

I agree with this. Red, blue, and yellow also ties them in color-wise with the. Cardinals and Blues. I really like the green/navy blue/white color scheme of STLFC, and I think it’s different enough from the Sounders to have its own identity in MLS. Since the Rams left, St. Louis sport teams have bonded together as a way of showing how good of a sports town St. Louis is. I think the club colors will stay in the lane of the other teams in the city. I sort of wonder if this new St. Louis club will look to Barcelona for kit design ideas.

Did the LA Rams have any banner from their SB win? I know they did in STL, just have no idea if they kept it

I can tell you that they aren’t still in St. Louis

Since the Rams have been playing at the Coliseum, I could see them not having banners up with the stadium belonging to USC and not intended to be long-term home of the Rams.

  4. Attending Game 7 of the 2011 World Series. I was standing in line to enter Busch Stadium for Game 4 of the NLCS (the Brewers won) when I got the email inviting me to purchase World Series tickets. By this time, they were fairly picked over by season ticket holders and previous rounds of invitations. I wanted to take my dad to a World Series game, and the only game I could afford 2 tickets to was Game 7. I texted my dad and told him to hope for a wild ride if the Cards won the pennant not knowing what lied ahead in Game 6 and David Freese's heroics. Watching your team win a championship in-person is an incredible experience. If you ever have the chance, buy the tickets.

  5. The 2004 St. Louis Cardinals getting swept in the World Series. That team was so good. They won 105 games during the regular season. They had the MV3 of Pujols-Edmonds-Rolen and had Larry Walker, Edgar Renteria, Tony Womack, and Reggie Sanders. To their credit, especially Carlos Beltran, the Houston Astros took the Cardinals to the limit during the NLCS. Still, the Red Sox went 7 games against the Yankees, so it felt like it was going to be a competitive matchup. The Red Sox truly were a team of destiny. 2006 and 2011 helped, but this team will likely always feel like the team that should.

I think everything they've done post bird-head logo has been routinely terrific. All of these are awesome:

The gold pants should never return, and I think the purple pants would look better without the white stripe.
