  1. it was a rule dating all the way to before the 1999 playoffs. Dallas was told the only way they'd get to wear their alternates in the playoffs was if they replaced the black jersey for the entire playoffs.

    so they did.

then the Canucks doing it for game 7, it was a baller move because it was totally against the rules. but one of those rules that you know there can't be any actual punishment for breaking. they did it. what was the league gonna do? make them forfeit game 7 over the color of their sweaters?

it was a big topic of conversation at the time.

  2. Interesting takes from over analyzing the Dallas uniforms:

Wish they at least had some reference to being Dallas on the uniforms....

Dallas doesn't have a collar logo, which surprises me.

We really really look like the Titans, which is funny and awkward for me. Im the XFL's target demographic. Why they gotta make my home team look so much like my NFL team? I'm wanting something totally different than what I've already got.

  3. As a former Houston Oilers fan, current Tennessee Titans well-wisher, Dallas resident, and apathetic NFL observer, I'm pretty excited about what I'm seeing from the Dallas Renegades.....

Oilers colors, but another boring/generic "Wild West" style name? I can stomach it. Especially if they somehow play up the tattoo/biker culture in their other logos, and utilize columbia blue and red primarily over black....

So many questions! That bear is so small, what is it made of? Then by contrast, the flag should also be invisible! Also, it's using electron orbits to suspend itself from, which makes no sense! (sarcasm intended)

it's actually just a particularly hairy tardigrade.

  5. i absolutely love the Red Sox navy blue alternates. When the Sox play up the navy and use red for accents, like the cap, I think they look amazing. It isn't better than the home or road, but I absolutely love every time I see them in navy.

The red jersey? Never been much of a fan...

but I do prefer navy blue undershirts on the home/road.

  6. really boring "practice jersey" looking football uniforms are my favorite.

an Alabama jersey is just crimson jersey with white numbers, and overall, when paired with the helmet and pants, is a powerful uniform.

an Oakland jersey is just black, with silver numbers... but with the helmet and pants, it's effective.

the Cardinals looked best in just red jerseys with white numbers.

in most sports, the jersey itself has to do the heavily lifting of visual appeal, and you can't get by with just a solid color garment... but the football uniform usually has an interested helmet and pants with stripes... and i just think the best way to deal with disappearing real estate on the sleeves is just keep it obsessively simple.

i'd be fine with the titans just wearing columbia blue jerseys with white numbers, outlined in navy or red, with a unique or bold number font. no need to re-invent the wheel for most teams.
