  1. as a red sox fan, these are my 2 favorite uniforms in franchise history: when they first unveiled them, the blue socks on them made me absolutely hate them... but once they switched back to the red undershirts and red sox, they are absolutely flawless uniforms. gorgeous and stunning.
  2. the bills need to wear a red helmet, and i have no issues with the nickle color being used. that said, those uniforms were awful for a million reasons, none of them having to do with colors.
  3. it's probably just because i'm a stars fan, but mike smith looks very weird in any uniform other than a dallas stars uniform to me. i think of him in the green star-shaped uniforms from his rookie year.
  4. i honestly think my chinese dallas stars jersey is of much higher quality than the replicas they sell in the proshop... the only gripes i have about my chinese ribeiro jersey is that the nameplate font seems too thin and poor spaced, and the NHL logo on the collar isn't perfectly centered. i'll take those flaws over the screenprinted-and-glittered shoulder logos, and flimsy glued on DALLAS wordmark (with perfect triangles cut out for the holes in the A's?! ugly). sadly, i've gotten to the point where i just don't plan to buy jerseys anymore. not sure if it's an age thing with me (never thought i'd play that card) or what, but i'd just as soon wear a hoodie or player tshirt to a game than an officially licensed replica that falls apart in the wash, and isn't even all that accurate off the shelf. http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss108/theother6seconds/032410112140.jpg http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss108/theother6seconds/032410112253.jpg http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss108/theother6seconds/032410112220.jpg http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss108/theother6seconds/032410112159.jpg i don't own a replica of this particular sweater, but if anyone out there does, please take a picture of the A's... i've looked at the pro-shop many times, and they're just horrific and sloppy. basically, take a standard nhl.com nameplate/number, and construct the DALLAS wordmark out of it. most teams aren't as screwed over as dallas, because they actually get real logos on their sweaters. reebok has totally turned me off to buying jerseys... and i don't plan to buy any more chinese ones, either... but i will say playing devil's advocate, that i'd much rather be seen in a chinese knockoff dallas stars jersey than anything you can buy off the rack at the arena or official team store.
  5. hawks st. patty's jerseys just look like north dakota sioux throwbacks... the only teams that i think can pull off irish jerseys are boston, and even then it's sort of annoying. if only someone had made a dallas stars irish pride jersey, i'd buy it and unstitch the shamrock, and look fantastic in the process.
  6. it was probably me, but i don't have it anymore. i've like 4 computers removed from that era, sadly.

  7. anyone who isn't used to seeing jagr in a czech jersey doesn't watch enough hockey. that's like saying michael jordan in a dream team jersey isn't the right jersey... yeah, it's not the bulls, but it's still obviously the right jersey. doesn't fit with the spirit of the thread at all, to me. jagr on the czech national team is absolutely nothing like brett favre as a falcon or stamkos as a tampa bay ray.
  8. i loved guy charbonneau as a player. Very underrated player on that Dallas Stars team. Was there any reason the Blues didn't want him? Seems like the type of player you would want on your team. carbonneau was considered washed up by the habs and blues, and the stars took him on as a sort of project. he absolutely flourished here and became one of our most beloved players of all time in the process. we had a similar effect on kirk muller's career a few years later, but with much less adoration. still hard to believe all it took was paul broten to get guy carbonneau on the stars. that was one of the most shocking trades of my childhood.
  9. this conversation is going absolutely nowhere, and you all look ridiculous. people who don't have a moral objection to counterfeits will buy counterfeits. people who do, won't. people who think all counterfeits are of substandard quality are simply incorrect, and people who think that the mistakes on most counterfeits aren't noticeable are equally incorrect. no one is going to change anyone's mind, and it's baffling to me that so many of you are still trying.
  10. whats the opinion on wearing counterfeits that are more accurate than the legit replicas? i'm baffled every time i see anyone in a replica dallas stars home jersey. that word mark is absolutely butchered by reebok that said, i'm just as baffled by those who wear the bad counterfeits with athletic gold stripes and HUGE captain's letters to games too.
  11. my 2 cents, to this running debate: i work in law enforcement, yet somehow am disinterested in the moral debate about if either side of this issue is in the right or wrong. all i know is that a replica dallas stars jersey is both more expensive and poorer quality than a counterfeit authentic from china. most of the counterfeits look terrible and have bright bright yellow instead of gold... that said, the one i've found looks pretty accurate except for one or two discrepancies. it's give and take. the DALLAS wordmark is laughable on replicas. unevenly cut twill that is glued, without even an attempt at making it look like it's stitched anywhere. literally perfect triangles for the holes in the A's outline that don't match up with the font at all. the replicas are the worst peices of i've ever seen, and apparently most teams don't have it as bad as dallas in that regard. i'll take an off-center NHL logo on the collar, and a close-but-not-quite font on the name-plate as my flaws any day of the week, over the inaccuracies that the officially licensed replicas have. it's not about morals, because to be honest, i couldn't care less. maybe that makes me a horrible sinner. it's about quality and price. neither one is going to be as accurate as i'd like, but i'd love to see someone compare my ribeiro jersey from china to the premier jerseys in the pro-shop and tell me that mine is a lower quality product, and a less accurate depiction of what is worn on the ice by the actual #63. the same goes for my keith bulluck and vince young tennessee titans jerseys, when compared to the screen-printed replicas. yeah, most counterfeits are horrible and laughable, and i enjoy making fun of them too. but i've got no moral objection to paying half the price of a replica to pick up a well-made unlicensed higher-quality version of the same thing.
  12. i just had to take this opportunity to brag here's me wearing brett hull's 1999 stanley cup ring. and here are some pics of me and brett together, as proof watching the game. me posing like a nerdy nerdy excited fan. last season me and some friends won tickets to watch mike modano's final game with the dallas stars in a luxury box with brett hull. he wore the ring, i commented on it, and he insisted i try it on. absolutely blew my mind.
  13. I think the team just does it if they feel like it? I know the Red Wings do the same, but the Sabres do not do this (They were the "Eastern Conference Regular Season Champions" in 2007, but there is no such banner mentioning it) What about the other 28 teams...anybody got info on what they do? stars have "wester conference regular season champions" banners too... i'm not a fan, but it really really makes us look even more successful than the 3-4 mavs banners, as if we didn't already.
  14. what font are these numbers in? they look sort of 1960 houston oilers, only different. :\
  15. i still think it would be funny to see Modano in a Wings uniform just to piss off the stars fans. only if he gets to play on a line with sakic, and we can photoshop richard into a bruins/leafs jersey.
  16. the bottom one is more hurtful than the first... but i don't enjoy seeing either.
  17. aesthetically, the new pens banners are an upgrade... but i think they rid themselves of a very unique banner style, and replaced it with something boring, while cleaner and more modern...
  18. i still think the weirdest/most wrong player/jersey combo is michael jordan in the washington bullets throwbacks. that's weirder than wizards to me.
  19. In 10 years #9 and #56 will be added. I see you're still rocking the banner sig. I have two issues with the Stars' banners. 1) Western Conference Champions Regular Season isn't a recognized award/trophy. it's an accomplishment for sure but it should not be up there. In two of the three cases, they also won the Presidents so it's a given. It seems like extra fabric for no good reason. Pull those three banners and hoist the 5 North Stars banners up there. Those 2 Campbell and 3 Norris are well deserved and should be displayed. Broten, Goldy, Modano and others helped earn them - they're in your history. 2) The retired numbers kind of get the shaft. Now I realize they inherited 2 from Minnesota and were not obligated to hoist them and the the third accomplished more in Minnesota and as a Devil than as a Dallas Star. For honoring those players I am grateful. However, sticking them all on one banner seems cheesy. Now with Modano and Zubov coming up I hope they separate them out. Give each their own banner, make the banners either generic enough and uniform (perhaps match the white conference banners) or go all the way and have them represent the various eras of the players. As much as I would love the last remnants of the North Stars, those three players, to have their own banner and for two of them to have green-era banners (Broten would get black), I don't think Dallas will be acknowledging the North Stars with that kind of tribute. Truthfully, I am just very appreciated that they continued to honor #s 8 and 19 as retired. I was also appreciative that they retired Broten's number, primarily on the things he did in Minnesota. I'll be content if they just keep them hanging in the rafters. Actually, I wish Minnesota had retired Cicerelli's number, but he was still playing when the team left. I would not think Dallas would do so since he never played there. I wonder...is Dino's number retired anywhere? He's one of the leading goal scorers ever. about honoring the north stars players with individual banners... it's not a slight to the north stars players at all, since that's how the dallas stars do it. it's been discussed that even when modano and zubov retire, they both get their own banner for 1 season. then that banner is taken down, and given to that player... the number is then added to the celtics-style banner. that's how they did it for brots, too. he used to have his own #7 banner... but then it was taken down and given to him when they moved to AAC.
  20. In 10 years #9 and #56 will be added. What about 2, 22, 25 and 26? 2 maybe, but probably not. Had he stuck around a little longer rather than chasing $$$ than probably. 22 got his hanging in St Louis, but perhaps there's room for it in Dallas. Will it change to a 16 when viewed from the other side? 25 seems to have a bright future in Miami. If it were up for retirement consideration, they wouldn't have given it to Conner. 26 perhaps. That's a distinct possibility. i'm one of hatch's biggest fans, but there's no way 2 gets retired for him. hully is confusing, since he wore 22 for the big moment, but only wore 22 for 1 season. then you've got 16, which he only wore for 2 seasons here, and didn't really do anything worthy of retirement for. hull means a LOT for the stars franchise, but there is no number that symbolizes him or his accomplishments. nieuwy rules, but it won't get retired. and jere has a shot, but only if he never plays anywhere else... and then it might not be immediate like mo will be, and zubie should be.
  21. In 10 years #9 and #56 will be added. i think we're closer to 3 years than 10 years, but i agree totally.
  22. stars banners, taken at the AAC after game 3, round against the ducks... by yours truely.
  23. i've gotten a few requests in PM now for my raster soccer template, long sleeve/goal keeper edition... so here we go. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/Col...ole-temp-GK.gif once again, you'll need to resize it before you post your concepts, for everyone's sake
